AutoCAD Architecture :: Unwanted Automatic Zooms
Mar 15, 2012
In AutoArchitect 2012 I am getting unwanted zooms in my viewports, for instance if I'm pasting in a portion of another drawing, disturbing the drawing scale. I don't like working with all the viewports locked, but I really don't want AutoCAD zooming for me. How do I turn off this new feature?

In Designer Pro 6 Under Options, Backups, there's a check box that says, "Backup open documents on program close and restore on program start." Sometimes I want some of my open documents to reopen on program start (I think this is great!) But my problem is even when I first close those documents (that I don't want to open on program restart) before closing XDP6, when I reopen XDP6 the ones that I closed reopen. What can be done to change this behavior if I want to keep the box checked?

I am using a Nikon D7000 and shooting in RAW format. Recently, I took some time exposures of Niagara Falls at night, to capture the colors and the lighting on the falls.
When I view the files in the media tray, everything looks alright. However, if I select a photograph to look at more closely, , some sort of automatic brightness adjustment is taking place which brightens my foreground and washes out the color on the main part of my image. This process changes the histogram of the photo. When I move to Express Lab or Full Editor and choose "Smart Photo Fix", and reset various settings to "Original", it doesn't bring the photo back to its original appearance, so clearly there are other settings that have been automatically adjusted as well.
I've looked into the Preferences menus, but can't find anything that will turn off this automatic adjustment process.

I produced some objects in Inventor 2013 and exported to DWG to be assembled in AutoCAD 2013. All is fine except when i look at the objects in a 'hidden' view these weird diagonal lines appear over the objects. I am unable to clcik these but when i zoom in they gradually disappear but. If I try to plot the object as shown these lines are printed. This also happens when saving to pdf.

I created a dll and wanted to auto netload it upon launch of AutoCAD Arch.I have used the following instructions in URL....
"DESCRIPTION"="AutoNetloadDLL"
"LOADCTRLS"=dword:00000002
"MANAGED"=dword:00000001
"LOADER"="C:MyAppinReleaseMyApp.dll"
However, when i typed in my commands for the dll, AutoCAD displayed Unknown Command "<Command Name>". Press F1 for help.I have tried suggestions by people comments in the above link (i.e. setting acdbmgd.dll and acmgd.dll to Copy Local = False, restarting computer) , but I have done so, and the error still persists.
I also have used the method as suggested by writing a STARTUP lisp function to auto netload the dll file in URL...But the same error persists. I have used Process Explorer to check if acad.exe has loaded the DLL, and it did! But the commands are not found.
When I manually netload the dll by typing the netload command and selecting the dll, there is no such issue. This only occurs to me when I tried the auto methods.The methods only works so far if I launch acad.exe through Debug mode in VS2008.Definitely need to auto netload the DLL for my application, when AutoCAD Arch startups.

I would like to add a automatic property set definition for door "swingdirection" in my door schedule and replace the “left” with LH, “right” with RH and if neither (N/A) with DBL (for double leaf doors).
I thought I remembered being able to view source code in 2004 ADA for how to change and replace but I’m lost in 2013.

I'm running 2013 C3D and have a quirk that my drawings zoom out when I first open the file. I'm not even sure what they are zooming out to as it is not 'Extents'.

In paperspace, each time I double click inside the viewport it automatically zooms to the extents of my drawing, changing the scale. Also, when I switch back to model space i am zoomed to extents in model space. How can I fix this?

The drawing “zooms to extent” AUTOMATICALLY!
I’m wonder why the attached file zooms to extent AUTOMATICALLY when applying some commands.
For example if I need to use the command “mleaderalign” then the file zooms out AUTOMATICALLY!!!
How to control this very weird behaviour?
Why the file may zoom AUTOMATICALLY?
Software: AutoCAD 2014, AutoCAD C3D, AutoCAD M3D, Revit
Windows 7 (Ultimate 64 bits),

I'm using AutoCAD 2011 and here is the situtation. I create a viewport. I zoom in to the scale I want to use. Once setup i click out into paperspace all is good. However if i do not lock the viewport, the moment i click back on it, the viewport automaticly zooms extents and screws up what i was trying to show . Is there a setting somewhere that should be set from 1 to 0 or a box not checked off that i'm missing?

I am having trouble with the geo marker and the geographic settings. the file given to us has a pre defined grographic location, (which is incorrect) which is making the file zoom out a lot further than desired. I change the geographic location and the position of the geo-marker, but when I use zoom extends, it still zooms all the way out to the undesired distance. There is no "space junk" out that far, so I do not know what else it can be.

I'm in paper space, in a drawing I didn't create and, when I dbl. click in a viewport to open it and attempt a zoom, the entire paper space environment zooms, as if I was still in paper space, although the task bar tells me I'm in model space. Is this because the viewport is locked? If so, how do I unlock. I see nothing on screen regarding padlocks, except the tool bar/ window positions padlock.
If it makes a difference, I'm in Acad 2006, not 2006 T.

When I use the magnifying tool (PS CS3) to zoom in on a section of a file, all the other files which are open in CS3, also zoom. When I unzoom the file I am working on, the other files stay zoomed until I manually change them back. This doesn't happen if I use control + to magnify - but using control + does not magnify the file in the specific part of the file I need. This is driving me batty. I think this started happening when a co-worker uploaded a folder from her external drive to my desktop. I did a system restore and this annoying problem stopped. She uploaded more files later and the problem came back. I also notice my folder settings getting rearranged after she uploads her files. Could this have anything to do with her running on a 64 bit Vista machine, and me on a 32-bit XP? Could this be triggering a preference change that I can just undo?

I have seen it in Dateline and 60 Minutes, they are highligting and article, e-mail or memo; the page zooms in and goes out of focus ( this is easy) but then an excerpt of the article rips out of the page and the important statement with jagged edges comes into focus. I have seen it several times so I don't know if it is just a plain graphic or an After Effex template. I have Google it and found nothing.

I upgraded from CS1 to CS4 yesterday and immediately encountered a problem with the way Photoshop (not Bridge) displays images to the monitor. At zooms of less than 200%, the image that appears is divided into squares in which the correct picture is displayed below each square's diagonal and solid vertical lines of color are displayed above the diagonal. I've checked jpeg, tiff, and psd files. At 200% or higher, everything is fine.

After adding a puppet warp mask over my layer I click to start adding pins and it automatically zooms in 100% around the first pin and changes the current layer I'm on to a 100% crop of what is around the pin. If I zoom out it just zooms out of my current cropped image. I cant pan or move around and if I apply the puppet warp it apply it to that small section that it just zoomed into. Very odd and I can't seem to find a work around. I've used puppet warp several times in CS5 and a few times in cs6 but this just started happening. 13.0.1 x64 Windows 8.

So normally when you hold the space key and drag, it just moves the canvas, but every now and then, seemingly randomly, it zooms way out and shows a little box which is the size and shape of the area of canvas I was previously looking at. If I move the box and let go of space, it zooms to that location, but all I wanted was to move normally. I don't think I've ever wanted the zoom out, move, then zoom back in behavior.

On pasting items from one dwg. to another and the ucs being the same orientation in both dwgs. the ucs in the receiving dwg. wonders around to various orientations when trying to pick the target pasting point. Objects are 3D, working in that environment. Had no trouble pasting one object into the dwg. as per normal but trying to repeat the process at a different location in the same dwg. the grief started. Ending up climbing walls!! Have been working this procedure for a couple of months and only now this problem has arisen.

I recently started an internship with a company who makes radiators for power transformers. The first task they have given me is to clean up their plant layout file. The file currently has 125 layers in it due to machine blocks dragging in unwanted layers whenever they bought new machines. (presses, rolling machines, powdercoating, welding, ect...) I have been having trouble getting rid of and simplifying their floor plan. I tried creating blocks for each group of machines and changing the layer of the block to the desired layer. This seems to change the block to the right layer, but it still references to the other layers it was previously in. I want to keep the separate colors that show different parts of the machines, but I still need to eliminate the unwanted layers. Is there any way to consolidate the layers while keeping the different colors within the blocks I tried to create?. They have me working on Autocad 2006.

I have imported a dxf file from our Trimble handheld unit. The dxf has layers built into it that come straight from the trimble software. (ei, FENCE, TANK, WELL HEAD, FIELDLINE) I have custom built layers and linetypes for my .dwt file in Cad so I dont need the layers that followed the dxf file.
For some reason I am unable to delete those layers, I get a warning box saying:
The following layers cannot be deleted:
. layers 0 and Defpoints
. The current Layer.
. Layers containing objects.
. Xref-dependant layers
I am not on the current layer, I am pretty positive there is no objects on the layers I want to delete ( i have deleted my gps points and blocks that were imported)
I am not using any xref dwg's
