There are obvious reasons to limit the number of annotative scales while your drafting. I don't know that I'm aware of what file errors/issues can come about from using annotative scales. I've read where you should clean up the scales in your drawing but I'm not sure why?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been able to turn on the annotation for the Mtext, which applies the current annotative scale, but how do I add additional scales to the Mtext object.

We use a lot of annotative blocks with several different scales and often find that they have changed from thier standard names to several *u blocks that do not behave annotatively. I have to go in and explode them once or twice to get them back the right name and they show up as individual blocks in different scales. Is there a fix for this?

I am having issues with an Annotative Multileader skewing at different scales. It was inserted at 3/16" (1st Image) scale and when I add a 1/4" (2nd Image) scale it becomes skewed at that scale (3rd Image the leader is highlighted to show what it looks like).

so in one drawing, the annotative scales of the objects are listed as 1" = 30' etc, and in the drawing i have them xref'ed into are 1:30. the only way i can get the annotative txt to show up is to make them non-annotative.
im assuming it has to do with the difference of 1:30 and 1" = 30'.
Am having problems with annotative dimensions in Autocad LT 2010. When I click on a dimension it appears in at least 3 different scales, do not have this problem in Autocad LT 2012 on different computer.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am running Autocad arch 2011 (as Autocad 2011) and a co worker is using Autocad electrical 2012 and when he works in a drawing of mine the every annotative scale that is used in the file is attached to every annotative object. Which means I have to go through every object and delete scales that should be be there....all my annotative objects appear in every view port because every annotative object has every scale..
View 2 Replies View RelatedI went to change the annotative scale while working on a drawing and LT 2011 crashed. When I recovered the drawing there are now over a 1000 new layers, I assume related to the annotative scales I had used.
What do I do with this mess? I am scared to start working on this drawing because I don't want all these new layers. I thought a central point of annotative scales was to simplify layer management. What happens when it blows up on you?
Update: I found that I can purge these layers out and just did that. I will give another update if things get weird again.
If you change a view port scale of a view port that contains a bunch of annotative blocks.
How do you change the active annotative scale of all those blocks without individually picking the blocks.
So all the blocks appear the proper size in the viewport.
I need to show a building plan at 1/100 scale and then just its outline at say, 1/500 for a site plan, both on the same drawings and using just the one model?

Annotative dims and text. I have multiple view ports ranging from 1/8 to 1-1/2 inch scale in one paper space. I have noted items (in model) and need them to appear in the different scaled VP's. However, too much is showing up. All scales in all vp's are active, not just the scale of the vp.
When I want to establish a new annotative text style, and I'm in the Text Styles dialog box, in the "Size" box, why will it not let me enter a Paper Text Height of 3/32"??? Every time I try it defaults to either 1/16" or 1/8". I have checked the Annotative box.

Is it a setting somewhere or is it a problem with the install? I don't remember if it ever worked correctly or stopped working at some point in my learning process on ACA 2011 over the last 6 mos.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have created a block in the model tab with the annotative scale set at 1'-0" = 1'-0" with the UCS set to World. When the block is inserted in model space either on the model tab or thru viewport it displays and prints correctly. However when the same block is inserted into paperspace on a layout tab the block appears correctly but when printed either hardcopy or PDF it is rotated 90 degress around its insertion. This malfunctions the same whether it is inserted directly or nested in a legend block.
It is also not one particular block or drawing but (mal)functions across drawings and block definitions.
I really don't want to have to make two sets of blocks for the project.
I seem to be running into a wall here, I have created an annotative dimension and copied it to the tool palette. When I go to dimension something in a new dwg that does not have the new annotation style, the dimension style does not keep its annotation setting. It brings in the annotation style but not the annotation setting.

The command function is basically to allow me type the value of the scale and based on that, adjust the properties of the scale. (Name appearing in scale list - Paper Milimeters - Drawing Meters)
Example:

>type the value of the scale to create: 50
set 1:50 to default
Unfortunately, a new project we have does not allow us to use annotative objects, so we are back to switching scale by creating several dimstyles with a varying dimscale (eg. Dim96, for 1/8", Dim48 for 1/4" etc.) Now I have created a button on the tool palette that brings in text and it allows me to set the size of the arrow by matching it to the dimstyle, but the text comes in always at the same size - 9" which is 3/32" for a 1/8" plan. The arrow changes but the text does not. I know I have to change the CANNOSCALE, but I can't seem to figure out a way of making it work so that the user will only need to switch the dimstyle from the pull down up at the top right and then be able to use a tool palette button that will bring in a text with leader with it's arrow head and text height matching the dimstyle scale.

Is it possible to create the Annotative Text styles in an xref and amend these on a titlesheet when said xref has been imported?
I've checked the "Help" section of AutoCad but it all seems to relate to creating Annotative Styles within a single drawing.
I am running ACA 2011 X64.I have some leaders that I copied from one drawing into another drawing.
When copied the leaders do not display their attributes. I cannot seem to figure out how to do it. I have made sure they are both in the same annotative scale and that both have the current scales loaded.
I'm using AutoCAD 2010 and I tried creating an annotative dimension but it won't show up in my viewport unless ANNOALLVISIBLE is set to 1. Both my annotative and viewport scale are set to 1/8"=1'-0".

I make the textstyle current (which I don't know if is exactly the same as changing the TextStyleId of the mtext object) and create the MText. The problem which I encounter is that the newly crated MText Object has textheight as the textstyle's paper space text height, instead of scaling the text height by the annotative scale, as when you create the Mtext using Autocad menu.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a co-worker who needs to create a block where the attributes scale with the anno scale, but the block container does not. He's creating a tree block and wants the canopy and trunk attributes to scale without scaling the tree symbol.
Making an attribute annotative and applying the scales to the attributes doesn't seem to work if the block itself isn't annotative.
Are we missing something, or is this just not possible?
Is there any trick that bring in an annotative block into a drawing at the annotative scale you are working in, not the scale the block was created in?

Often i have many different scales of existing dimensions or objects. i waste a lot of time opening the annotation object scale dialogue box, selecting add, finding my scale and deleting the old scale.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have attached the block for reference. Now that I have found the error of my way with the annotative cutline. I have a slab-on-grade block that needs to have annotative hatches; I also need the cutline to be annotative and dynamic so that as the drawing scale changes the scale of the cutline will be match and I can adjust the length of the extension lines. I have made the cutline a nested annotative and dynamic block within the slab-on-grade block. When I insert the block into my drawing the cutline is annotative and the dynamic grips show up but they do not work.
