I have been able to turn on the annotation for the Mtext, which applies the current annotative scale, but how do I add additional scales to the Mtext object.

When preparing surveys i often use the annotative labels and tables available in Civil 3d. I am familiar with modifying label & table styles, but i have not yet been able to figure out how i can add a column to my table that contains fillable text. Because of that i am forced to create a table and then add text in paper space adjacent to or over the top of it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThere are obvious reasons to limit the number of annotative scales while your drafting. I don't know that I'm aware of what file errors/issues can come about from using annotative scales. I've read where you should clean up the scales in your drawing but I'm not sure why?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe use a lot of annotative blocks with several different scales and often find that they have changed from thier standard names to several *u blocks that do not behave annotatively. I have to go in and explode them once or twice to get them back the right name and they show up as individual blocks in different scales. Is there a fix for this?

I am having issues with an Annotative Multileader skewing at different scales. It was inserted at 3/16" (1st Image) scale and when I add a 1/4" (2nd Image) scale it becomes skewed at that scale (3rd Image the leader is highlighted to show what it looks like).

so in one drawing, the annotative scales of the objects are listed as 1" = 30' etc, and in the drawing i have them xref'ed into are 1:30. the only way i can get the annotative txt to show up is to make them non-annotative.
im assuming it has to do with the difference of 1:30 and 1" = 30'.
Am having problems with annotative dimensions in Autocad LT 2010. When I click on a dimension it appears in at least 3 different scales, do not have this problem in Autocad LT 2012 on different computer.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI went to change the annotative scale while working on a drawing and LT 2011 crashed. When I recovered the drawing there are now over a 1000 new layers, I assume related to the annotative scales I had used.
What do I do with this mess? I am scared to start working on this drawing because I don't want all these new layers. I thought a central point of annotative scales was to simplify layer management. What happens when it blows up on you?
Update: I found that I can purge these layers out and just did that. I will give another update if things get weird again.
If you change a view port scale of a view port that contains a bunch of annotative blocks.
How do you change the active annotative scale of all those blocks without individually picking the blocks.
So all the blocks appear the proper size in the viewport.
After closing and re-opening my drawing, my annotative mtext is moving, and shrinking. When I click on the text, the properties say annotative is set to NO. I reset it to YES and fix it, but once I close it and re-open its screwed up again, and annotation is set back to NO.

I make the textstyle current (which I don't know if is exactly the same as changing the TextStyleId of the mtext object) and create the MText. The problem which I encounter is that the newly crated MText Object has textheight as the textstyle's paper space text height, instead of scaling the text height by the annotative scale, as when you create the Mtext using Autocad menu.

I read that copying into a new drawaing will fix this. And it did! But now, it is gone again? Not sure what command or action i took to do this but i haven't done anything out of the ordinary?
It is annotative mtext, my non-annotative mtext is still there but it is also masked.
I have annotative mtext that keeps changing width and location. See pic. When gripped, they're in the correct location but wrong scale. I experienced this on a few drawings with C3d 2010 and now 2011.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just loaded AutoCAD 2012 on Friday and have noticed that when I use annotative text or mtext in paper space when printing or previewing the text it rotates 90 degrees to vertical, but is horizontal in the drawing. Only does this with annotative text or mtext, non annotative text and mtext remains horizontal when previewing or printing.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to add labels everywhere on my drawing to show the properties of my objects i.e. lines. (But the thing is, I need static text). This is because I need to be able to "distort" the drawing for legibility purposes but retaining the label information. This is a common drafting task in surveying. Solution A - add the labels and then convert then into text. (I don't think Autocad allows this) Solution B - add the mtext via script, but so far I am stuck on the text editor.

I have noticed a small annoying behavior of autocad when adding certain characters to an MText object.
For example, if I have MText containing "hello" it will be at a different vertical position to MText containing "hello/". Autocad changes the vertical placement when adding characters it seems, possibly to avoid clashing.
Is there anyway to suppress the auto adjustment autocad makes to the vertical placement to accommodate these characters? I have the text elements spaced suitably from the line to avoid clashes but some wire numbers have characters and some don't, so it leaves the drawing looking somewhat messy. (see below)
Currently i have to adjust each wire number containing characters so it sits at the right vertical placement.

I just want to have the necessary scales, so don’t want to add to the template.
The command function is basically to allow me type the value of the scale and based on that, adjust the properties of the scale. (Name appearing in scale list - Paper Milimeters - Drawing Meters)
Example:
>Command line: setscale
>type the value of the scale to create: 50
set 1:50 to default
I am running Autocad arch 2011 (as Autocad 2011) and a co worker is using Autocad electrical 2012 and when he works in a drawing of mine the every annotative scale that is used in the file is attached to every annotative object. Which means I have to go through every object and delete scales that should be be there....all my annotative objects appear in every view port because every annotative object has every scale..

Making an attribute annotative and applying the scales to the attributes doesn't seem to work if the block itself isn't annotative.
Are we missing something, or is this just not possible?

The dwg was fine, then it crashed while changing from modle space to paper space...
When i recovered the dwg, EVERY MTEXT I try to edit becomes rotated vertically and stays that way when i close the edit box...
I do not recall hitting any buttons or making any keystrokes without my knowing...
Is there a way to get my text back to Horizontal and stay that way?
I tried setting the MTEXTFIXED to: 0, 1 & 2.
NONE of these options changed anything.
I NEED to have this fixed. more importantly, i need to know why this is happening sop that i can take steps to prevent this happening in the future...

I've found some routines that can combine pieces of MText but I don't know if they preserve the paragraphs.I have DotSoft Toolpac but it doesn't seem up to the task. C

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have attached the block for reference. Now that I have found the error of my way with the annotative cutline. I have a slab-on-grade block that needs to have annotative hatches; I also need the cutline to be annotative and dynamic so that as the drawing scale changes the scale of the cutline will be match and I can adjust the length of the extension lines. I have made the cutline a nested annotative and dynamic block within the slab-on-grade block. When I insert the block into my drawing the cutline is annotative and the dynamic grips show up but they do not work.
