I have annotative mtext that keeps changing width and location. See pic. When gripped, they're in the correct location but wrong scale. I experienced this on a few drawings with C3d 2010 and now 2011.

If I select a few mtext entities that I want to make the same width then go to Properties, the Defined Width box says "varies" and is not editable. Seems like long ago I used to be able to do this, but not now. I'm running 2011 autocad.

Instead I'm creating new mtext and it has a set width that I am unable to change in the properties window.
I have no problems with changing the justification point.
Is this a setting that I can change?
Plus is it posible to change the default so that I don't have to worry about changing it every time?
I've been having this issue happen repeatedly, but not consistently. In a new file, I adjust the width of an mtext box so that the text wraps into multiple lines. When I next open the file, all mtext boxes are back at a wider width so that the text is all on one line. The start of the text is also usually in a different location. This was happening on 2011/XP and now on 2012/Windows7.

I am familiar with modifying label & table styles, but i have not yet been able to figure out how i can add a column to my table that contains fillable text. Because of that i am forced to create a table and then add text in paper space adjacent to or over the top of it.

I am having issues with it resetting my column width to 0, even after I have formatted all the Mtext to read how I want it shown. Once I close a drawing and open it again, the formatting changes that I have previously set return to "dynamic" and column width = 0. I just want to turn off the dynamic setting so it stops messing up the formatting, but I can't get it to retain the dynamic setting. Currently running C3D 2012.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been able to turn on the annotation for the Mtext, which applies the current annotative scale, but how do I add additional scales to the Mtext object.

I copied the pressure pipe catalogs to our local network and in C3D 2014 set the catalog to the network location.
When I close C3D and reopen, it reverts back to the original catalog location on my C drive.
Setting a different location for regular pipe networks works fine.
Is there something I'm missing or does this method not work for pressure networks.

After closing and re-opening my drawing, my annotative mtext is moving, and shrinking. When I click on the text, the properties say annotative is set to NO. I reset it to YES and fix it, but once I close it and re-open its screwed up again, and annotation is set back to NO.

I make the textstyle current (which I don't know if is exactly the same as changing the TextStyleId of the mtext object) and create the MText. The problem which I encounter is that the newly crated MText Object has textheight as the textstyle's paper space text height, instead of scaling the text height by the annotative scale, as when you create the Mtext using Autocad menu.

I read that copying into a new drawaing will fix this. And it did! But now, it is gone again? Not sure what command or action i took to do this but i haven't done anything out of the ordinary?
It is annotative mtext, my non-annotative mtext is still there but it is also masked.
Can it be done like you can with Text etc?
i know it can be done via lineweights, but you cant "lock" the lineweight in model space,
at the mo, to generate a thinkness in a line i use the global width for that pline.
i dont want to use line weights as i sometimes have multiple lines with different widths on the same layer, i could split the layers, but i'd rather not to.
I just loaded AutoCAD 2012 on Friday and have noticed that when I use annotative text or mtext in paper space when printing or previewing the text it rotates 90 degrees to vertical, but is horizontal in the drawing. Only does this with annotative text or mtext, non annotative text and mtext remains horizontal when previewing or printing.

View 8 Replies View RelatedIf I create one MTEXT object with the Background Mask set to Yes, then COPY it to several locations, and lastly edit the text for each one, does the width of the bounding box have to be adjusted for the width on each individual peice of MTEXt, or is there an "autofit" option?
The Background Masks are either too narrow or too wide on the copied items.
I am using AutoCAD 2011. I have been reading of similar problems with MText: I format the text in the drawing to my desired appearance and once I close and reopen the drawing, the column widths have compressed and muddled the text legibility. After reading other similar posts, I set MTEXTCOLUMN to 0 and changed all MText to "No Columns." MTEXTCOLUMN is still set to 0, but the other properties have reverted back to dynamic columns, so I am still having this problem. To check against this being a problem on my specific workstation, a coworker opened the file on his workstation and experienced the same text compression.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was curious to see if there's a way to set up Autocad (2010) to recognize when MTEXT objects are edited, and have it adjust their defined width automatically (both single- and multi-line)--versus having to click on the arrow every time to snap the text box "margin" to the actual text. I'd like to do this to keep my background masks the exact width of the text; I just hate it when the mask doesn't cover enough of the text, or when it covers more and the background is unnecessarily obscured. I'm careful about keeping things neat, but my coworkers aren't .

I use Space Generate to create spaces, tag the room with Room Tag, put the room tag where I want it, close the floor plan and when I open the plan back up some of the room tags have moved to a new location. This has happened 3 times now with the same floor plan. Out of the 39 rooms 22 room names have moved their location. Please see attached partial plan.

I have numerous MText paragraphs that I need to combine into a single piece of MText. I want the paragraphs preserved in the final piece. I've found some routines that can combine pieces of MText but I don't know if they preserve the paragraphs.I have DotSoft Toolpac but it doesn't seem up to the task. C

With using superelevation wizard in Civil 3d 2012, changing the lane width is not affecting the resulted values of transion length and run-off length, Is that correct ? ( as civil is using standerd AASHTO tables which assume that lane width typically is 3.6m )
Also, There is only 2 tables for 2-lanes and 4-lanes roadway, Is it for total road width or for one directon only, and what about different no. of lanes ?
I lost the ruler to adjust the width and length of mtext objects in the editor settings.

I want to change the size of the image in Gimp to 3957x4429 px (67x75 cm) at a 150dpi (the image we have has a 300 dpi.) When i do this in image - print size it keeps changing the width.
The system is not allowing me to get the picture a few cm larger. Is there any way I can overwrite this?
I created a associative and annotative hatch for a group of objects. It displays fine and the area measures fine. When I switch the annotative scale in the lower right for the whole drawing, portions of the hatch dissapear from the boundary objects - both visually and from the area in properties, When I switch back to original annotative scale, that area is still no longer there. In essense, parts of the hatch get deleted.

If you change a view port scale of a view port that contains a bunch of annotative blocks.
How do you change the active annotative scale of all those blocks without individually picking the blocks.
So all the blocks appear the proper size in the viewport.
Is there a way to change multiple MTexts at once to a certain font? I don't have the full version, only AutoCAD LT 2013 so unfortunately I don't have the fancy express tools or lisps.
I have at least 1000 MTexts that need to be changed. This will take a long time if I have to activate each one and change them individually.
How to change MTEXT to MLEADER? We often have texts on our drawing - mostly MTEXT and used line to the text.
Recently I started using MLEADER due to that it has added line to the text and looked more professional with consistent line setting out within the text.
The problem is that I don't seem to find a way of converting MTEXT to MLEADER. From the internet search, it seems that adding a LISP created by someone seems to do trick but I would prefer to do from the Autocad software so that all colleagues can use.
I have been a having a repeating problem with text in AutoCAD. For some reason when re-opening my file some annotative text is know magically different. Prior to closing the file my annovative text is only set to one scale and the text width is a specific size. Then when I re-open the file, the text now has 4 different scales and the width has shrunk to completely different, casing all my text to jumble and be illegible. To be more specific when I say width of text if I look in the properties window the setting "Model defined width" is different (always much smaller). This a particularly frustrating as I cannot override this setting when selecting in properties and have to stretch each text box back to size manually. I am currently using AutoCAD LT 2013.
