AutoCAD LT :: Annotative Text - Changing When File Is Closed And Then Opened
Jul 15, 2013
I have been a having a repeating problem with text in AutoCAD. For some reason when re-opening my file some annotative text is know magically different. Prior to closing the file my annovative text is only set to one scale and the text width is a specific size. Then when I re-open the file, the text now has 4 different scales and the width has shrunk to completely different, casing all my text to jumble and be illegible. To be more specific when I say width of text if I look in the properties window the setting "Model defined width" is different (always much smaller). This a particularly frustrating as I cannot override this setting when selecting in properties and have to stretch each text box back to size manually. I am currently using AutoCAD LT 2013.
recommend a command line extractor, i want to fill (manually with excel vba) datas (block attributes) in cells with the DXF i have in tons of projects, everything is ready except i dont know which lines to consider in the DXF.
Example : i have once instance of a block in a file, but i read the dxf as a txt and i see it (called "plc_a_1") at 5 places in the txt, and the real x,y coordinate fits one of them, but the attributes for it are like 500,000 lines further..
For the last few weeks I have been having problems with my photoshop. One day I opened it and all the layer styles (6 gigs worth) were just gone. No one knew how to restore them here so I did them all over again and saved 3 sets at 2gigs each. Now every single time I open Photoshop I don't have any layer styles and have to load them. I updated just now from CS5 to CS6 and the same thing.. I have opened and closed CS6 4x now and each time all my layer styles vanish upon opening.
I have spent the entire day trying to solve this and I finally found a fix but not the cause. I have tried all the typical ways to sync/read/render to see the xmp data in LR.
After all of this I found the only way for me to see the xmp data is to open the xmp as a text document then save it go into lightroom read metadata and it shows up. This obviously isnt a workable solution for thousands of files so I need to find a cause.
So a little info. I'm using LR5 on a windows. I edit clients images then send them the xmp files with those edits. I have one client thats photos when imported do not show metadata or develop adjustments. This is the only solution I have found to see the info. I believe they are using LR 4 and a MAC.
Is it possible that the problem is the original files are saved on a mac then transfered to my windows machine.
I created a associative and annotative hatch for a group of objects. It displays fine and the area measures fine. When I switch the annotative scale in the lower right for the whole drawing, portions of the hatch dissapear from the boundary objects - both visually and from the area in properties, When I switch back to original annotative scale, that area is still no longer there. In essense, parts of the hatch get deleted.
I'm perfectly happy with the TrueType font (BankGothic Md BT), but all the style settings change to the T1 equivalent every time I close, and when I open the file again the T1 text does not show up. I can go through and reset all the styles, then re-apply them, but it wastes a lot of time.
I have annotative mtext that keeps changing width and location. See pic. When gripped, they're in the correct location but wrong scale. I experienced this on a few drawings with C3d 2010 and now 2011.
I only do programming when absolutely needed so it usually only happens every couple years. I wrote this routine to count nested blocks inside of dynamic blocks to count parking spaces. The routine worked fine but was relying on the ltscale to scale a block containing an attribute for the total number of spaces. I want to update the routine to use an annotative block so the scale doesn't have to be set. I changed my block containing the attribute but now when I run my routine, the attribute height gets changed each time the routine is run. The text just gets larger and larger. Here is the portion of the routine where the attribute info is gathered and updated with the new value for that attribute. If you need the entire routine, I can post it with a slight modification so it will work outside our network.
(defun updateattrib () (setq CNT 0) ; sets count to 0 (while (< CNT (sslength ss)) ; starts loop while CNT is less than the number of objects in the group

I am running this in Civil 3D 2010 but will want it to work in 2013 so if the solution will only work in 2013, that is fine with me.
Text is allowed only on the outside of a rectangle shape. The text cursor disappears when I try to enter it into the rectangle and when I place it on the edge of the rectangle, it rurns into a slanted "A" and allows texting on the border of the rectangle. Corel Paint Shop Photo Pro X3 (build date Sept 7, 2010). This software came with my new HP Pavilion dv7.
Setting a stroke profile (variable line width) on a closed shape changes the stroke width from narrow to wide. I would like to have the "wide" width in a different place and a "narrow" width somewhere else. I guess a way to do this would be to change the node orders of the closed shape?
I have a .PSD file that someone made for me before I had Photoshop that I want to edit. I'd like to change the actual text of the image, but can't figure out how to do it. I can change everything about the text layers, except the text It's probably something very easy, but I'm a complete Photoshop newbie. Could it be that I don't have that font installed, or something like that?
I would like to find a lisp that changes the scale of something that has an annotative scale and deletes all other scales in the object scale list. Often i have many different scales of existing dimensions or objects. i waste a lot of time opening the annotation object scale dialogue box, selecting add, finding my scale and deleting the old scale.
I do not use annotative text very often, for the first time, I need 1/4 inch and 3/4 inch viewports in the same drawing. How do I setup the dims and text to appear correctly in both viewports?
I have a sample piece of annotative text that I dragged and dropped onto my tool palette. It works perfectly fine in the file I dragged and dropped from, but not in any other file. When I insert in into another file, the text is no longer annotative. I gave the text style a unique name in the file I dragged and dropped from.
I seem to be having an issue with some mtext with a a particular annotation scale set.
Every time i open this .dwg all my 1:5000 mtext paper defined widths are shrinking. I can honestly say i am not doing anything as it just open this way! But all my other annotative text scale are fine?
I am running Autocad arch 2011 (as Autocad 2011) and a co worker is using Autocad electrical 2012 and when he works in a drawing of mine the every annotative scale that is used in the file is attached to every annotative object. Which means I have to go through every object and delete scales that should be be there....all my annotative objects appear in every view port because every annotative object has every scale..
I have used PEDIT to join multiple polylines, which now appear as polylines. But when I use QSELECT to show all open (non-closed) section, one polyline still shows up as open.
I've attached the file I'm working on. The polyline in question is the green outline on the object on the right.
I have a co-worker who needs to create a block where the attributes scale with the anno scale, but the block container does not. He's creating a tree block and wants the canopy and trunk attributes to scale without scaling the tree symbol.
Making an attribute annotative and applying the scales to the attributes doesn't seem to work if the block itself isn't annotative.
Are we missing something, or is this just not possible?
Is there any trick that bring in an annotative block into a drawing at the annotative scale you are working in, not the scale the block was created in?
I know it is a simple thing but for the life of me I cannot make it work. I must of hit a button and messed it up.
Annotative dims and text. I have multiple view ports ranging from 1/8 to 1-1/2 inch scale in one paper space. I have noted items (in model) and need them to appear in the different scaled VP's. However, too much is showing up. All scales in all vp's are active, not just the scale of the vp.
When I want to establish a new annotative text style, and I'm in the Text Styles dialog box, in the "Size" box, why will it not let me enter a Paper Text Height of 3/32"??? Every time I try it defaults to either 1/16" or 1/8". I have checked the Annotative box.
I am really confused on an Annotative Text style issue. I have a blank drawing and i need to set up an annotative text, dimension and multileader style. So i started with the Text Style.
Now i would like the annotative text size to be 2mm, Arial standard. However whenever i try to do this, it changes my 2mm to 3mm which is not what i am after.
Is there some limitation to the font or is this AutoCAD error or am i just trying to do something odd.
I am using the copy and paste clipboard option to bring text into my drawing. The text was annotative at one scale and brought into a new dwg (model space) which had a different annotative scale. When I brought the text in, it came in too small, so I scaled it properly. It did not appear in the paperspace viewport, even thought it was there in model space. I did a properties on the text and it did not allow me to change the texts annotative scale.
I would like to change our office template to have one text style and one dimension style that shows up at 1/8" tall text in any viewport scale. This would also include setting up the multiple global settings. Is this possible?
Why can I not check the Annotative Scale box for the attribute? Please see attached. The circle scales up and down but I only see the text in the 1/8" scale and but not in the 3/16" scale. The 3/16" scale is selected in the attributes scale box.
I can set up anno text to appear for instance at 1/8" scale, but cannot get it to change for every scale, and for it to remain centered on the original position at each change in scale. I know it's something to do with how I set it up but cannot find it in "Help".
I just called up a drawing I haven't worked on in a while. All the text is annotative with 2 scales, 1/8 & 1/4 and worked just fine. Now I see both scales at once, I can't get "grips" on it, it won't edit, and when I list it, it comes up as object type block "*uxxx", not text. If I explode it, it becomes text again, but as two separate notes of different sizes, and both remain visible, even though the anno scale is set for 1/8. Drawings that reference this also show both scales at once.
