How can I get this ruler back?

How can I get this ruler back?
A fellow cagemate is having some trouble with his Text Editor and I swore I'd (Cadtutor) solve it for him.the top is of the Text Editor as it usually is with the width adjustment ruler on top, the bottom image is taken from his ACAD which as you can see does not have this ruler. This happened yesterday and we have not managed to restore it back to how it was.Has he turned it off somewhere? How can he get it back?
View 7 Replies View RelatedSeveral times, we generate a drawing, and the text widths in the columns vary greatly. Some have text that is ten characters long, and others have thirty-plus characters.
Is there a way to be able to select the table (or perform the command to all tables in the current layout) and have each of the columns expand to the appropriate width, that depends on the longest string of text in that column, for each column. The problem I see, is that some tables have two columns, some have six, and of course other with any number in between. The same is also true for the amount of rows.
I am using mtext and would like to put the ruler over the top of the text, not underneath it how do I change this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use Mtext quite a bit and I am trying to convince others in the office that it's a good thing (versus single line text in long paragraphs). One of their concerns in the shape of the Mtext. For instance, when you use Mtext, you type into a nice rectangle that you can change the size of. What they have to do on occassion is instead of having a nice rectangle of text, they have to make it like a triangle. So in this case, single line text can be adjusted so that the end of the sentences make an angle.
Is there a way to do this using mtext? Or is there an lsp that will work?
I'm searching an external RTF-Editor which is quicker then "MS Word" and better then the internal editor. Some applications use this RTF-modules.
Can one of these used by Autocad?
With using superelevation wizard in Civil 3d 2012, changing the lane width is not affecting the resulted values of transion length and run-off length, Is that correct ? ( as civil is using standerd AASHTO tables which assume that lane width typically is 3.6m )
Also, There is only 2 tables for 2-lanes and 4-lanes roadway, Is it for total road width or for one directon only, and what about different no. of lanes ?
I have long used the following lisp to convert multiple single text objects into multiple mtext objects (i.e. make each text entity into separate mtext entities).
; T2M - convert individual Texts/Dtexts to individual MTexts
; modified by Xanadu - www.xanadu.cz
;
(defun C:T2M (/ ss i elist)
[Code]....
However, the mtext entity always moves position slightly (compared to the original text entity) after converting the object. better lisp that converts multiple text entities into mtext entities (which are all separate still, i.e. not joined together) without the position of the entity changing?
Is it possible to add up/down arrow beside the text boxes (spinner) to adjust the height and width of an object by clicking with a mouse?

View 8 Replies View RelatedAny way to make Acad C3D hold the value for MTEXTCOLUMN = 0? I am having issues with it resetting my column width to 0, even after I have formatted all the Mtext to read how I want it shown. Once I close a drawing and open it again, the formatting changes that I have previously set return to "dynamic" and column width = 0. I just want to turn off the dynamic setting so it stops messing up the formatting, but I can't get it to retain the dynamic setting. Currently running C3D 2012.

View 9 Replies View RelatedHow do I globally change the defined width of a group of mtext entities in a drawing? If I select a few mtext entities that I want to make the same width then go to Properties, the Defined Width box says "varies" and is not editable. Seems like long ago I used to be able to do this, but not now. I'm running 2011 autocad.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIf I create one MTEXT object with the Background Mask set to Yes, then COPY it to several locations, and lastly edit the text for each one, does the width of the bounding box have to be adjusted for the width on each individual peice of MTEXt, or is there an "autofit" option?
The Background Masks are either too narrow or too wide on the copied items.
I am using AutoCAD 2011. I have been reading of similar problems with MText: I format the text in the drawing to my desired appearance and once I close and reopen the drawing, the column widths have compressed and muddled the text legibility. After reading other similar posts, I set MTEXTCOLUMN to 0 and changed all MText to "No Columns." MTEXTCOLUMN is still set to 0, but the other properties have reverted back to dynamic columns, so I am still having this problem. To check against this being a problem on my specific workstation, a coworker opened the file on his workstation and experienced the same text compression.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have annotative mtext that keeps changing width and location. See pic. When gripped, they're in the correct location but wrong scale. I experienced this on a few drawings with C3d 2010 and now 2011.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI was curious to see if there's a way to set up Autocad (2010) to recognize when MTEXT objects are edited, and have it adjust their defined width automatically (both single- and multi-line)--versus having to click on the arrow every time to snap the text box "margin" to the actual text. I'd like to do this to keep my background masks the exact width of the text; I just hate it when the mask doesn't cover enough of the text, or when it covers more and the background is unnecessarily obscured. I'm careful about keeping things neat, but my coworkers aren't .
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I create new mtext in my drawings I normally like to have a zero width.
Instead I'm creating new mtext and it has a set width that I am unable to change in the properties window.
I have no problems with changing the justification point.
Is this a setting that I can change?
Plus is it posible to change the default so that I don't have to worry about changing it every time?
I am trying to draw 3D models for the first time, and something is confusing me. Sometimes when I draw a rectangle and it asks for a length width and height it seems the width means something else and the width means something else. I think the width means the distance from the z-axis on the XY plane, but then sometimes it is the distance from the Y-axis on teh XZ plane. I am just wondering if there is a good way to keep that a constant, or to remember which the length, width, and height is referring to at any given time.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there a setting somewhere that keeps the Mtext Editor in the same place? I believe in previous versions if you specified "OldEditor" it would keep the editing box at the same size and same location that you specified. In ACAD 2012, if I change to "Old Editor" I get an error message - see attached.
I have tried MTEXTfixed at 0 or 1 with no luck. I do understand that you can zoom in and out to change the size of the text when editing.I run dual monitors and like to have the mtext editing on the screen without my drawing.
I've been having this issue happen repeatedly, but not consistently. In a new file, I adjust the width of an mtext box so that the text wraps into multiple lines. When I next open the file, all mtext boxes are back at a wider width so that the text is all on one line. The start of the text is also usually in a different location. This was happening on 2011/XP and now on 2012/Windows7.

I'm trying to change the size of a rectangle wall and I'm looking for "length" and "width" buttons in the properties manager box and can't figure it out. I thought I could just key in the new size after establishing an anchor point.
I've tried lengthen and extend. But the object is a closed polyline and what I'm doing is not working. Not having much luck with the key-grips either.
The wall is 47'2" and I want it to be 46' 8".
Is there a way to insert CAD blocks into the Multiline text editor, much like you are able to insert a block into a Table.
I am asking for the sole purpose of Plan Notes. When we lay out Plan Notes originally we place the note bubble next to the line of text it represents. When we have to come back at a later time and edit the mtext, sometimes add a line our users are in a rush and forget to re-align the note bubbles with the text. If there was a way to insert the block into the text editor and have it still be able to edit it.
Is this a feature in 2013?
AutoCAD MEP 2013
Window 7 pro 64 bit
E5440 (8 CPU) ~2.8ghZ
16GB RAM
NVIDIA QUADRO FX 3500 2270MB
Every so often, and I have not been able to determine common cause, when editing mtext in the default mtext editor the text in the editor will display as some other font - handletter, TXT, whatever - something other than the Romans I typically use. And both the style and the font are set to Romans. When I finish editing, the final text in the drawing is correct, so it is more an annoyance than anything.
