Every time I purge my drawing several plot styles show to be deleted. I don't reconize them, one I see offten is called Invisible ink. I started to try to use it to see what its about. I can't seem to find the right track and use this plot style.

How do I change the text style for one layer only? I already have some text in one font on a layer but now I want to create lables in a different font but when I change the text style while that layer is active both layers change.

I have a drawing that has hundreds of text styles that do not seem to be used by anything that I cannot purge. I have even deleted everything in the entire drawing, and it still says that the text styles are in use. Is there a way to override the purge since I know that the text is not in use.

I'm trying to set the plot styles to use specific linetypes for given colors. The theory is that using adaptive linetypes, then lines that are color 50 for example will always display dashed regardless of the length. This seems to work great, except that I'm not happy with the linetype scale (dashes plot too long). Obviously changing linetypescale does not work because adaptive is turned on. So the only solution I could think of was to change the actual linetype definition, but the acad.lin file does not seem to be related to the linetypes shown in the CTB editor (or is it?). How to change the linetype definitions that are linked to the ctb style?

Using: Land Desktop Companion 2009
Issue: Imbeded text in Linetype is automatically orienting the top of the text toward the center of the arc. I have tried to "reverse polyline" to fix this, but the text will not change. Is there a line property that I am missing that will allow the text to orient itself as readable from arc Point of begining to the end?

I am currently running AutoCAD 2013 LT on a Windows 7 64 bit system. I was recently running this same software on a 32 bit system computer and everything was running properly. After the upgrade, I have noticed a linetype issue that I cannot seem to get a handle on.
We use a "insul" linetype on building sections that should come out looking like an architectural insulation pattern. After upgrading to the new computer, this linetype only reads as dots, nothing else. I have gone to other comnputers in the office that are displaying this linetype properly and have copied their acadlt.lin as well as acadltiso.lin files over to my computer and it has not solved the problem.

Below are linetypes that we created for our use. We have tried to create others but we dont know what the parameters are
Height of text, spacing of line between text, center of text...
*RS-485,RS-485 ----485----485----485----485----485----485--
A,.5,-.2,["485",STANDARD,S=.2,R=1.0,X=-0.1,Y=-.1],-.6
*RS-422,RS-422 ----422----422----422----422----422----422--
A,.5,-.2,["422",STANDARD,S=.2,R=1.0,X=-0.1,Y=-.1],-.6
*RS-232,RS-232 ----232----232----232----232----232----232--

Is there a way to start a custom line type so that is starts and ends with "O". Right now, the default "FENCELINE1" has circles in it, but it starts and ends with a line.
Here's their code for the line:
*FENCELINE1,Fenceline circle ----0-----0----0-----0----0-----0--
A,.25,-.1,[CIRC1,ltypeshp.shx,x=-.1,s=.1],-.1,1
I already tried just putting the O's at the ends, and that didn't do it.
Below is a picture of what I'm looking to get. The top one is the FENCELINE1, the bottom one is just circles and lines, but that's how I want the linetype to look when they place it... so first click would have a circle, second click would have a circle, and the circles "in" the line would spread out evenly.
Just so you know... this is for guardrail inside a where house where it has the circle pillars on each end with circular pillars in the middle (every 8', but the spacing isn't crucial).

I have a very particular client insisting I recreate a specific lineteype. The previous technician used AutoCAD Architecture 2012 to create a shape within the linetype. I have recreated the shape, with my AutoCAD 2014, but am struggling with creating the linetype 100%, and getting into other files.

I have a layer named XYZ, that contains ARC, LINE and POLYLINE. I want to get a list of all linetypes from every ARC, LINE and PLINE. If I open the properties, if I select only the ARC, under linetype I'm getting *Varies*. Instead of*varies*, I would like to have a list of all linetypes (ARC, LINE and PLINE).
Is it possible? WOuld it also be possible to do the same for linescale or weight?

I have a problem between my template in inch and the one in mm.
Its the linetype scale that is wrong in the mm one, when i draw in the inch one, everything is fine but when i draw in the mm one, i have to set the ltscale to like 25 to see them at the same scale that they are in the inch one.
My guest is its because i've create my template for the mm one base on the inch one and i just change the unit type to mm. Is there a setting i could change that will arrange this?

Currently in process of a quick fix, trying to create a linetype that should place a number in between the lines.
*One, Places 1 in between lines A,5000,-50,["1",CompatecStandard,U=0,Y=-125],-150
That's as far as I've gotten and it pretty much does what I want it too, but right now it is set to 5000mm before it makes a gap with a number. I would like that gap to be dependent on the length of the line... is that possible?
For example, if the line is only 4000mm I want the gap to be after 2000 instead of 5000.

I am having an issue with the "upright" script in my ltype descriptions. Apparently it works the way it is supposed to and not the way I want it to.
The upright is set to 0 which orients the text in linetypes to be shown as "upright" to the model space. In most design cases; not an issue, but I am designing construction plans along a roadway and as such, north is not always "upright" to my viewport. Is there a script (ie ...,u=v],... or ...,u=vp],...) that will orient my text based on the line displayed in the viewport?

Basically, I'm trying to get the text (Green line with 4's) to flip around from it's current orientation, see attachment. I have already tried the REVERSE and MIRROR commands, with no success.

I made a custom linetype to represent a pipeline. The line is abbreviated by 5 letters. My problem is when I reach and curve in the pipe (an elbow), the text string does not follow the curve. It remains straight for the remainder of the text. Is there a way (autocad 2013) to have the text follow the path of a curve?
edit: I saw one similar topic from 2008 in this thread: [URL] and the best response there is the one posted by eldon where you break the code down to each letter. Still, the picture in eldon's post makes the text a bit jagged. Have any changes been made to AutoCAD since this post that make this easier?

I am trying to create a linetype(actually multible linetyes) for Civil drawings. I need the line type to have the following text..........12" W. I have tried to edit and existing linetype but for some reason the string does not seem to like me using the inch (") symbol. Any proper way to generate this linetype and I should be able to edit it to get all the other line sizes I need.

I made a custom line type called EX (for existing pipes) which looks a little bit like this: - - - EX - - - EX - - - EX - - -
Line works great when I draw from left to right. However, when I draw a line from RIGHT to LEFT, the text displays upside down a little bit like this: - - - X3 - - - X3 - - - X3 - - - ("3" representing the mirror image of "E")
Same applies when drawing from bottom to top, or top to bottom. I totally understand the behavior here, and TBH I think it's OK it behaves that way.
Let's say I'm drawing existing water pipes going in all directions with a polyline. Is there a way to make the text display upward no matter what direction the pline is going?
