AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Create Linetype With Text?
Mar 12, 2013I am trying to create a linetype(actually multible linetyes) for Civil drawings. I need the line type to have the following text..........12" W. I have tried to edit and existing linetype but for some reason the string does not seem to like me using the inch (") symbol. Any proper way to generate this linetype and I should be able to edit it to get all the other line sizes I need.

May 23, 2013I am using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 and just installed HotFix 3 (so I should be all up to speed). I have created a water linetype (---W---) and telephone linetype (---T---). The problem I am having is the 'W' and 'T' seem to flip at some of the nodes based on if the Polyline is going up or down (from left to right). When it is going up it displays right side up...going down it displays upside down. They are one single polyline with nodes.
I have tried REVERSE, PEDIT then Reverse, my linetype definition is set to U=0.0, but nothing has worked. I have redrawn other polylines and they all have the same issue.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Text In Linetype In Curved Pipe Is Mirrored
May 30, 2013I'm trying to set up pipe styles that have a linetype with text in them. For example ------SFM------. They work fine for straight pipes. However on a curved pipe the text goes all funky. Not only is the text backwards it is also mirrored.
Is there likely something wrong with my linetype definitions or is that normal behavior with civil 3d pipes?

Oct 7, 2011I have recently started using AutoCAD so I'm still figuring it out. I would like to create a line like this
¯¯¯V¯¯¯¯¯¯V¯¯¯¯¯¯V¯¯¯¯¯¯V¯¯¯¯¯¯V¯¯¯ and another one like this ¯¯V¯¯ ¯¯V¯¯ ¯¯V¯¯ ¯¯V¯¯ ¯¯V¯¯ (where the Vs link up with the line).
I have tried to do this through the lin file and have failed. The lines don't meet up, the gaps aren't in the right place and the line does not run along the top but in the middle: I have fiddles around with it but it complicated and long to do. I have also investigated creating these lines using express tools but it seems that this tool is not an option in AutoCAD LT 2010.

but with filled-in circles.for example circles should be hatched or colored.An image of desired linetype is attached.

Issue: Imbeded text in Linetype is automatically orienting the top of the text toward the center of the arc. I have tried to "reverse polyline" to fix this, but the text will not change. Is there a line property that I am missing that will allow the text to orient itself as readable from arc Point of begining to the end?

May 15, 2013When I am trying to label an object, surface slope, elevation or lot line distance my text reverts back to layer 0. I have checked the Label style composser and have everything that I see set to the layer I want it on. When creating the label I am even physically on the proper layer but when I make the label it still goes to 0.

Jun 7, 2012Currently in process of a quick fix, trying to create a linetype that should place a number in between the lines.

That's as far as I've gotten and it pretty much does what I want it too, but right now it is set to 5000mm before it makes a gap with a number. I would like that gap to be dependent on the length of the line... is that possible?
For example, if the line is only 4000mm I want the gap to be after 2000 instead of 5000.

AutoCad 2D :: Upright Text In Linetype
May 10, 2012I am having an issue with the "upright" script in my ltype descriptions. Apparently it works the way it is supposed to and not the way I want it to.
The upright is set to 0 which orients the text in linetypes to be shown as "upright" to the model space. In most design cases; not an issue, but I am designing construction plans along a roadway and as such, north is not always "upright" to my viewport. Is there a script (ie ...,u=v],... or ...,u=vp],...) that will orient my text based on the line displayed in the viewport?
AutoCad 2D :: Rotating Text Within Linetype?
Jun 4, 2013I'll start by saying that I'm using Civil 3D 2012...I've made a custom line type and am having issues with it. Basically, I'm trying to get the text (Green line with 4's) to flip around from it's current orientation, see attachment. I have already tried the REVERSE and MIRROR commands, with no success.

I have a storm linetype that looks like this"---STM----------STM----------STM---". The STM text within the linetype is reading upside down since it is placed past the 90°mark (i.e. from 11 o'clock to 5 o'clock).
Tried blocking the line out and rotateing.
Tried grouping the line and rotating.
Tried reverse comand.
Tried joining a line to it to trick it into fliping.
AutoCad 2D :: Curve Text In Custom Linetype?
Jan 8, 2013I made a custom linetype to represent a pipeline. The line is abbreviated by 5 letters. My problem is when I reach and curve in the pipe (an elbow), the text string does not follow the curve. It remains straight for the remainder of the text. Is there a way (autocad 2013) to have the text follow the path of a curve?
edit: I saw one similar topic from 2008 in this thread: [URL] and the best response there is the one posted by eldon where you break the code down to each letter. Still, the picture in eldon's post makes the text a bit jagged. Have any changes been made to AutoCAD since this post that make this easier?
AutoCad 2D :: Custom Linetype With Text Display?
Feb 18, 2011I made a custom line type called EX (for existing pipes) which looks a little bit like this: - - - EX - - - EX - - - EX - - -
Line works great when I draw from left to right. However, when I draw a line from RIGHT to LEFT, the text displays upside down a little bit like this: - - - X3 - - - X3 - - - X3 - - - ("3" representing the mirror image of "E")
Same applies when drawing from bottom to top, or top to bottom. I totally understand the behavior here, and TBH I think it's OK it behaves that way.
Let's say I'm drawing existing water pipes going in all directions with a polyline. Is there a way to make the text display upward no matter what direction the pline is going?

For this I need a .shx file and I don't know how to create this as I am not allowed to select 3d objects when using the MKSHAPE command.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Linetype Will Not Publish Correctly
Feb 20, 2013we use a custom treeline for all our drawings and as of late we can not publish this line type. The tree line will plot fine if you plot the individual pages but when you try to publish and plot all the pages as a group, it plots the tree line as a dotted line. I checked the plot styles and it's set to use object linetype. Like I said though it only seems to have this problem when publishing the drawing

Jul 19, 2013I'm drawing a gas line (the one that says gas throughout the length of the line) and i can't seem to scale the text 'gas' properly, it seems that it is all squashing up and i cant make out what it says. Apr 18, 2013I've created my first line type (woohoo!) but the rotated V that I used as an "arrow" won't center and I'm having a difficult time understanding why so that I can fix it. I am aware that linetypes like the one I created exist but I wanted the arrows a specific size and distance apart which I couldn't do with the existing linetypes available to me (also I really wanted to try creating a custom one).
In the attached picture:
-the green line is the finished custom linetype
-the red lines are polylines
-the blue text is rotated 90 degrees, set to a text style titled Linetype (simplex font, not annotative, height set to 0 and width set to 1.0), and Justify set to Bottom Center

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Wrong Linetype For Point Marker?
Aug 14, 2013I have my layer set up as dashed linetype for lines. My point style marker is set up as continuous linetype. When I import the survey file it automatically draws the lines correctly, inserts the correct marker, and places them on the correct layer. But the marker is dashed as well and not continuous. Is something overriding this setting?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Reference Surface Profile Linetype
Aug 27, 2012I have a drawing with multiple profiles. We originally had an existing and finished ground surface in the drawing, but decided to use a data shortcut to the surfaces as the design kept changing. We deleted the old surfaces from the drawing, and created the data references, using the same surface names for the new referenced surfaces.
The ground lines show up in the profile, but I can't get it to show the linetype I need for the EG surface (dashed). It doesn't act like a typical profile line - it now shows a lot of PVI points, and plinegen settings have no effect.

i am having trouble with the excessive styles that shows whenever i copy and paste then the problems occur after that most often. copy paste problems, fatal errors, and my computer hangs most of the time.
