I can't remember the option how to change the display of linetypes to show as solid instead of as two lines. I think this may be something to do with the 'solidfill' option.

I am trying to understand how Linetype scale works, and have been researching on LTSCALE, MSLTSCLAE and PSLTSCLAE. I believe I have a fair understanding of each of these settings. Still, I can't figure out how the scaling works while I was trying to create custom line type. To illustrate, I created a new linetype called XCENTER, which is exactly the same line type as CENTER except its name, in a new LIN file.

After loading the new linetype into my drawing, I was surprised to see that CENTER and XCenter show up in different scales in the same drawing (see png).
My work file is WORK.DWG, I have purged everything except the two polylines, one with the line type of CENTER, the other xCENTER. Not that my global scale is 1:100, LTSCLAE=, MSLTSCALE=1, the object scales are both set to 1.0.
I copied the two lines to clipboard and pasted on a brand new drawing TEST.DWG, and the two lines show up in the same scale.
What in my original drawing WORK.DWG is causing this problem?
I saw some years ago a 3D drawing where hidden lines were dashed after hide command. I tried to find out, how it was made, but nothing. Today I need this solution, but I can't find information, how is it possible.

View 8 Replies View RelatedAttached is a drawing containing a big rectangular lwpolyline and two relatively small lwpolylines near the drawing origin. One of these smaller plines is on a layer that has a dashed linetype associated with it. That layer is also red. When I zoom in on that pline, however, I won't see the dashes unless or until a regen occurs. As of this writing, after trying a few things, I'm almost resigned to including a note telling the client they might have to REGEN in order to see non-continuous linetypes display properly.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe recieved some drawings from a client for updating. The Pneumatic, System Link and Heat Trace lines all show up solid in the drawings when I open them up in AutoCAD 2012. We tried opening them in AutoCAD 2004 and are experiencing the same issue. In the Linetype Manager menu, under Description, the linetypes appear correct. Under Appearance, Heat Trace and Pneumatic appear solid and System Link appears dashed (just as they do in the drawing itself).
Here's the kicker. A co-worker has AutoCAD 2004 on his laptop and everything shows up and plots out just fine.
I am having trouble getting my linetypes to show up. Many are set by layer and are not showing up. How to toggle it so they show up.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently installed AutoCAD 2014 and noticed when I try to select objects behind a solid (in wireframe) it will select the face of the solid and I am not able to select any objects behind that solid. In the past, while in wireframe, I wasn't able to select a solid unless an edge was selected. Now if I click on a face it will select that item, which is not allowing me to select anything behind it. Is there a variable to change the way a solid is selected while in wireframe?

Prior to that, the linetype as seen in the attached screen short displayed the same for both the alignment style (green) and the polyline (white). After 2.1, they display at different scales. Why? There now seems to be a problem with linetype scaling in the style definitions.
The same linetype is used in the alignment style as is assigned to the polyline. The scale is the same for both (in the alignment style definition and as assigned to the polyline).
The only thing that changed is that on Friday morning, I installed the update 2.1 and this is what things looked like in existing model files when I opened them that displayed correctly when I went home on Thursday. Open this file on my computer and it displays according to the attached screen shot. Open the exact same file on another team member's computer and they display at the same scale.
I've been using AutoCAD for a while now, started with 2011 and now I'm using 2012. However, the one issue I've never been able to resolve is how to get my linetypes to show in model space properly, and then how to get them to show the same way in paperspace.
I know it has something to do with, at least, LTSCALE and PSLTSCALE. I've never know the 'formula' to make those work - it takes a lot of trial and error before they work together. Is there a trick to just making all of this work, without changing scales and regenerating countless times?
The current drawing I'm working with; I'm drawing in 1:1, with my viewports set to 1:100. My LTSCALE is 500, and my PSLTSCALE is set to 0. That seems to make things 'work' but, I can't figure out how to always just make these values work.
I should add I've checked the forums for a 'magic' answer and, there doesn't seem to be one. Is this the way it really is? I thought AutoCAD would be a little more intuitive than just 'trial and error until it works'.
Is it possible to change the color of fields when they are set to display. Currently they display as grey but many of my users say it is to hard to see and would like to change the color.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble when I import XRef’s and the scaling of lines. When the drawings are importing the hidden lines do not show up as hidden lines. I know this might be a scaling issue but I do not know how to correct this. The XRef drawing is drawn at a scale of 1-1/2”=1’-0” and set to print on a letter size paper but the drawing which it is imported to is set to be printed on a 11x17 but the viewport is still at the 1-1/2” scale and the lines are shown as continuous.

I created a folder where I store all my shape files for linetypes, and added it as both a support file search path and a working support file search path. I tried to provide as much information as I could with the images below. I have finally created the shell of the complex surface that you see. This is only a section of the part because I cannot show the whole thing for proprietary reasons. I formed solid surfaces using the network command. The propblem is that it will not convert to a solid because the surface seams are not "water tight." When the network command created the solid surfaces, the surface seams do not exactly match the lines so there are gaps in all the seams. I have tried blending, patching, etc. and nothing works. how to convert this to a solid without losing the outlines and the shape?

I want to make the solid and then set something up that allows the user to change a few of the parameters of the solid in a very user friendly way (i.e. a box that says "cylinder radius" and has an input box so the user can enter a value).

So far, what I do is trim the existing lines and draw new ones with a new layer.
I have tried changing the linetype several different ways. I have manually changed the linetype and I have also changed the linetype for that particular layer, and nothing happens. I can change the color of the line, but when I try to change the linetype or weight it will not change.

View 3 Replies View Related I incorporated an architects drawing into mine, and brought in hundreds of linetypes and text styles. Whenever I cut and paste from that drawing, the linetypes come too. If I cut and paste within the drawing, I think the linetypes multiply. It's made the drawings almost unworkable.
I can xref the file into a new drawing, and edit the x ref to make it part of the drawing, which gets rid of the linetypes, but adds a prefix to every layer, block, text style etc.

I'm having a small problem with linetypes that are not being used nor will they purge from a drawing. I believe that all started with the binding of an xref but now the xref has been removed along with just about everything else other than simple geometry and some text. The linetypes will not purge. For instance, if I take a standard "new" dwt file that has no problems and copy anything from an "infected" drawing to the dwt, the infectious linetypes will now appear in the dwt. And when I say anything, I mean anything. i can draw a new circle/line/point on the "0" layer and copy that new item into the clean dwt and it will take along with it the unwanted linetypes.
I have seen a similar post about linetypes not purging. And have tried the wblock solution with now luck. I have tried recover along with anything else that I could think of. Again the drawing doesn't have any xrefs and even newly drawn items, when copied, will become infected by the unwanted line types.
Also, the linetypes that are being left behind do have the "$0$" within the name. But also to mention the only ones being left behind are "powerline" and "phantom",
I am working on my company template. We are trying to keep it as close to INDOT standards as we can. Indot uses microstation and provides many files for microstation users. I converted one of the files to a .DWG and impoted all the linetypes to my template. This had a lot of bad side effects.
How to extract the actual code for the Linetypes, so that i can simply re-write a code as autocad wants it and then import?
Using project navigator my drawings get xrefed from the constructs, through the views, and finally to the sheets tab.
I recently realized that I needed to fix / change my linetypes on 5 different drawings starting at the construct. When I had finally finished fixing the layer linetype / line LTscale / drawing LTscale to get it to look exactly the way that I wanted, I had to go through my views drawings, and the sheets drawings, detach the xrefs, re-attach them, and then modify the layers to the colours that I wanted.
Some people had the same problem about 10 years ago in this thread, and the poster at the bottom sums it all up nicely. This is not a VISRETAIN issue. I just want changes to my linetype changes to flow through all xrefs, just as if I had moved a line.

I would like to see a setting added to CAD that would allow linetype changes to flow through, and a colour setting that would allow colour changes to flow through. Maybe VISRETAIN is too broad of a command, and needs to be broken down into linetypes, colours, LTScales. etc etc etc.
I have a block which includes some Multiple lines attributes.
Now I don't want them to be multiple lines any more.
How can I change them to single line attribute?
In the block editor, the "Multiple lines" in the properties palette is gray out. I have create single line attribute and replace the multiple line attributes one by one.
Why don't make the Multiple lines property editable? This problem is since Multiple line attribute first time introduced.
Interesting thing is single line attributes can easily changed to multiple line attributes through the properties palette!
i am having a hatching issue, it seems no matter what hatch pattern i use and what hatch scale, alot of the hatch looks solid instead of the pattern i want, for example i am using currently ANSI37 @ Annotative with a scale of .20 and on the same paperspace page one plan with the hatch shows the cross hatching and the other one below looks solid (see attached) now i can go and say change the hatch scale and it reverts to the cross hatching, but then when i zoom out it goes back to "solid" is it a graphical issue?
View 7 Replies View Relatedim not too hip with shapefiles/linetypes. but here is my current situation. everything was working fine for the past 2 weeks since our civil2013 install. yesterday i started a new drawing with our template, and now our linetypes are just dashed lines. its not loading the x's for fences, or any of our other custom shapes. i opened an old drawing which was working fine, and it now has the same issue.
the support file path is pointed to a local folder which contains a customised .shx file made by a previous employee here.
Is there a way to get linetypes with text to read with the viewports?

Why is it, when I restore a layer state to a blank drawing, it cannot load the linetypes saved to those layers? I get an error that says Linetypes not loaded and then wind up with a full set of layers all with CONTINUOUS linetype.
If I bring in a block from a toolpalette that has a new linetype and layer, it will create them for me just by inserting the block. Am I missing something??
When plotting with plot styles the "use object linetype" setting in the plot style table is not working when i plot a pdf file. All the lines appear as continuous. I am unable to plot hidden, phantom, ect lines. Changing global scale has no effect.
