View 3 RepliesI have a 3D model. I'm making drawing view, using "create view" task. Now, when i got my view in layout, I choose "edit view" and set appearance to "hidden lines". Ok. When I plot my drawing, i get all lines with the same line weight - visible and invisible lines are all the same weight. How can I make invisible (hidden) lines to be plotted thinner, while visible lines stay thick? Do Autocad 2013 have this option to make it available to change?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen exiting a drawing by clicking on the small X in the upper right corner of the drawing, my program routinely "stops working". I get the error message that it has stopped working and it closes. No chance to save work in other drawings open at the time. I often have three or four drawings open so my only workaround is to go through each and save, then close the one I want to close, let the system crash and reopen the other drawings. It does not crash every time but several times a day.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I set a layer as current, every object or line I select in the drawing appear to be on that layer in the toolbar. Although in the properties toolbox, I see that the line I selected is still on the right layer.
I can't work in paperspace either, when I freeze a layer it freezes all objects. It seems like whenever I give a different layer to an object, it attributes to all object that same layer.
When I open the same drawing in acad 2008, everything is ok, the objects have the proper layers.
Is there a command for that or it's an acad 2013 problem?
I´m using Inventor Professional 2013 64-bit build 138.No matter what I get 1 pixel wide lines on screen and on printer.
I can control line colour and line type (as in solid, dashed, dotted etc) from Manage - Styles editor - Layers.
When I make changes to the "Visible" layer:
- the line colour changes come through both to screen and printer
- the line type only comes through to the screen, but not to the printer
- the line weight is ignored both by screen and printer
Tools - Application Options - Drawing - Display line weights
seems to have no effect at all.how to get drawing line weights to come through to the printer
I have a data set including .shx .shp .prj and .dbf files each named the same for landuse, rail, road, etc for a single city. How can I open these files to export a simple line drawing for use in a thesis project as a map.
View 4 Replies View RelatedA plotting issue that has never been addressed perplexes me! When working in a paperspace layout and trying to plot or print by window or display, I get a partial print or nothing at all. Typically, I will get a partial print showing the drawing above a diagonal line. This has plagued me through many versions of Autocad.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIf I start autocad and draw a line then change its linetype from continuous to Fenceline2 it shows up like it's supposed to, a line with small squares in it. I can also change it's linetype to Fenceline1 and the linetype shows up just fine with the line and small circles in it.
But when I call up some existing autocad drawings that have lines with the Fenceline1 or Fenceline2 linetypes assigned to them, the small boxes or circles are missing from the linetypes. When you type linetype at the command prompt the linetypes are listed in the dialog box, but for some reason they are not showing up right in the existing drawing. When I type linetype, and hit the load button, and browse to my acad.lin file and select it, I get an error message of Bad Definition for linetype Fenceline1 and another for Fenceline2 and another for Batting etc.
So why are these Complex linetypes not working in the Existing drawing but work fine in the just call up autocad empty drawing, and how do I fix them to work in the existing drawing?
I have placed my assembly onto the idw and the line weight is set up correct for the majority of the drawing, but the small details, line less than 1mm together still carry the same line weight as the rest of the drawing. They are coming out far too thick as one big fat line.
Is there a way (Automatically, not RHM change layer) to select lines that are close together to move to a different layer that has a different line weight? I dont really want to go around selecting every line close together and changing the layer or weight do I?
Inserted an alignment line table. It's in model space and viewported (locked) to the layout. On the screen it looks fine but during print preview and printing it comes out too small. Can this be controlled?
View 8 Replies View RelatedEverytime I open ACAD2013 and start from the "drawing1" position, model space is unworkably small, we are talking mm here.
How do I ensure that upon opening I have a workable sized model space ?
I have drawn an assembly of parts and now wish to line up the small hole in the large shell to the projecting pipe,i thought it would be a simple task of using mates (insert aligned) but this does not let me pick on the boundary of the small hole.

At center line I want to place a small perpendicular line in specific length and put their coordinate to excel sheet(export coordinates).
I have already two programs for this, one for placing objects on curve with specific length and 2nd for pick & export coordinates to excel or other type of file. but this is very lengthy process & need too big time. but I think it cab be done in a single command written in lisp.
I have a problem with plotting my layout. When I plot, the lines from the xref are small tiny points/dots instead of a continous line. All other lines are OK. What could be the problem?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue with an xref in one of my drawings. There are AEC_WALL objects in the xref file but in my drawing they show up as small triangles with an exclamation mark inside.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an existing drawing that was created in AutoCad 2012. I now have AutoCad mechanical 2013 and when I try to insert a steel member into the drawing (metric) the member inserts very small. How do I solve this problem and get the shapes to insert at the proper scale to the drawing?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've run into a small problem while trying to export a drawing from paper space as a PDF. The drawing is of an electrical panel for a product. The panel is rather large, but the drawing includes some smaller details, such as a vendor logo on a component or a few extra lines on the border of a display screen. We have a large, multi page PDF file that uses A4 paper size that I need to insert this drawing into, so the export must be at this size. When exporting, I have CAD set to use monochrome and ignore the line weights, which solved my initial problem that the parts would show up as solid black splotches.
Now that the back story is over, here's the problem. When I export the pdf, everything looks great except these small details around the components. For some reason, the lines in the components will shift to one side or the other, causing breaks between features. Most of these breaks occur between an arc endpoint and a line endpoint. The export also excludes some smaller bits of geometry.
I found a strange behavior of AutoCAD. When I was modifying a drawing and adding dimension annotation, there suddenly come some small circles as highlighted in yellow in the screenshot.

First, there is no way I can't select them.
Second, zooming doesn’t change their size.
What these small circles are? How to get rid of them?

How can I draw the bottom line, with an angle of 132 relative to the middle line?
I have to draw a rather weird drawing with a lot of angled lines. Currently I'm using UCS to draw them but it's really tiresome.
I would draw 1 line, then type in UCS, select the X and Y axis, draw that line, escape, then hit in UCS again, rinse and repeat.
Is there a simpler way? I tried polar tracking "relative to last segment" but it still uses the x axis as the base, which is not what I want. I want the line to be the X axis.
For example, I'm making revisions to a plan and drag a block or xref of the floor plan changes where walls/doors/windows have moved. I want to be able to simply pick the underlying linework as opposed to tracing over each line of said xref/block.

I was drawing a lot of lines with the pointer that stuck at the end of the line and after that it stuck at the beginning of the other line (i hope you understand what i mean). I don't know what i pressed but now this function is not active and is very difficult to draw the lines.
View 3 Replies View Relatedremoval of small objects in a drawing. I made with ArcGIS a map of the Netherlands. Because it is a detailed map, it also becomes heavy and my computer slows down. I merged some smll elements together with the pathfinder-unite command, but it is still to heavy. So I have to delete some other elements. The problem is that I want to get rid of all the small objects, but I dont know how to select them. It is a topograpic map with for example houses, lamp post et cetera, but I actuallly need only the build areas.

I want to try just putting a small stroke that goes around the outside of the drawing, however when I do select all and apply the stroke, it obviously strokes the inner parts of the drawing (for instance the mouth, eyes, dimples, etc). I've tried merging all of the layers, but it doesn't work.
In develop mode in LR 4.4 I get a small line through the middle of the image preview box in the navigation panel.
Why and how I might get rid of it? I used to get it in 4.3 and 4.1 too.
I haven't been doing graphics for a few years and are having trouble getting Xara Extreme to export a small drawing with a transparent background. I am selecting the image in Xara, Export, Save as .png, True color + alpha, Save
The image saves okay but has a white background??
Recently upgraded to Civil 3D 2013 and drawings opened up fine. Now today any drawing that opens shows the plan view as last saved but then after loading takes the drawing and shifts it into a 3d view similar to a crossection. Is there a setting somewhere that has been changed? I noticed after a windows 7 update was preformed.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have this heavy issue, i can't send to back a line, an object or a hatch under other lines. In 2012 i used this feature a lot but in 2013 it's not working very much, maybe 1 time out of 10 and i absolutely can't say why.
HPDRAWORDER = 1 seems to work with a new hatch.. but i can't redraw everything.
Let's say i put an entire floor plan into block then draw over it. (I don't want to start a Xref discussion please) i can't send the entire bloc to the back.I used to do that with 2012, 2008, 2007.. but it's 2013 it's not working, is there a way to correct that?
I recently added 2 monitors to my set up to bring my total to 3. I am trying to figure out the best way to work on one drawing, with 2 differant veiws on each of the 2 main screens.
I would like my main screen to have the plan view and the second monitor to have an isometric veiw (or whatever I need at the time) of the same drawing. Is there a way to have the same drawing opened up in another window, in one session of Autocad 2013. One on the main screen and one on the secondary.
