AutoCAD 2010 :: Multiple Grip Selection Not Working When Pan Or Zoom During Selection
Jul 12, 2011When I select a hatch or polyline or any object with grips for that matter, and hold down shift to select multiple grips on the object or objects and then press my middle mouse button to pan or scroll it to zoom, the grips that I have selected de-select, meaning I have to set up the view so that all the grips I want to move are visible before selecting them.
This is only happening on some drawings (although it is most of them) and only when I use 2012 not 2011. Which system variable it is that has gone screwy that I need to reset? or is it something else?

Nov 19, 2013The AutoCAD video tutorials on the site such as "AutoCAD 2010_ 01 Getting Ready for 3D" show a 3D UCS icon which has some nice arrows at the end of each axis, this looks similar to the icon in Solidworks.
Has there been some change in design to this icon from 2010 to 2014? The UCS 3D icon in the version 2014 that i'm running does not have these arrows and if I can find a setting to have it display in this way, it certainly doesn't show up in any of the visual styles e.g. xray, conceptual or realistic. I've not found any info anywhere documenting the change, if any.

Illustrator :: Why Won't AI Allow To Drag Selection Icon Into Live Paint Group
Jan 23, 2013I routinely add paths to existing Live Paint Groups, by dragging a path that is outside the group, into the LP group. But AI won't let me drag the "selection icon" from a nested layer, into an existing LP Group. Why?
It seems I'm requesting the same action, but AI won't allow the icon to be dragged into the group. I have to either open the layer and drag the objects directly, or drag the objects into the main layer, then into the Live Paint Group. I think this is an interface flaw.
FYI… I realize I could jump into the Live Paint Group using Isolation mode, but that takes extra steps and makes the template less useful.

Oct 13, 2012My illustrator CS6 selection tool (black mouse icon) is broken. it wont let me move some thing or tranform/scale it any more. Normally i see 4 stroke squares to resize my square but now there are filled square and i cant to nothing.

Jun 20, 2012The AutoCAD deadline-sensor is working well this week as this Project near completion.
The closer we get to the deadline, the more AutoCAD slows down.
My UCS Icon has disappeared from Modelspace.
It's were it belongs in Paperspace.
The USC Icon is set to "Noorigin" and the color is set to RED for Modelspace.
I need it to orient the many angled spaces we have in this Plan.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Dimension Reassociate Icon
Apr 4, 2013I am getting this Dim reassociate icon all over my drawing. how i can re associate all my dimensions in one step. Because every time a try to re associate. it asks me to select two points. I simply can not do this as i have hundreds of them in my drawing. I don't understand how they become dissociated. I have attached a screen shot of it.

May 11, 2013I'm teaching myself 3D from a textbook. The text gives an example of how to create a UCS that is located on a 3D example part from the CD that came with the book; this is done using the UCS command. It also shows how to use the viewport presets. I was able to move the UCS as needed around the part, I was able to use the viewport presets to look at the part from different sizes, but if I created a UCS and then used the preset views, the new UCS I created did not stay oriented, but instead appeared to default to the origin. But when I rotated the part with the mouse without using viewport presets, the UCS stayed put.

Aug 28, 2013I am drawing an icon holder for a church. However, I got this problem, where I need to change the width of a piece but keep the height. So scaling wouldn't work as scaling would change both the width and height.
I can't use trim and cut from the middle as there is a block in the middle of it. and if I do that it will cut the block in all location.
I am not sure if there such an option in AutoCAD.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Redirect Path From DC Toolbar Icon To Personal DC2012 Folder
Jan 15, 2013I'm running Acad 2012 on my personal computer...no network.
Last year I set up a new Design Center 2012 folder,that linked my DC toolbar icon, etc, containing my personal block set that I use in Design Center 2012. Everything worked great. Suddenly something has changed.
1. I previously removed the stock DC2012 folder and replaced the folder with a new folder titled Design Center 2012 folder containing my personal blocks, the new folder was placed it in the proper Autodesk file location and worked fine for a year,
When I now go to DC thru the toolbar icon it takes me to the stock DC folder blocks, which I physically can't find a trace of on my computer, but are obviously still on my hard drive somewhere.
2. There is no DC2012 folder which contains the stock blocks on my computer (I have them saved to another drive), only my personal blocks are in my new DC 2012 folder.
3. If drill down thru C drive properties to the AutoCad 2012 folder in Autodesk, my personal DC 2012 items are there and functioning fine if I click them directly.
So, how can I redirect the Acad DC toolbar icon, or whatever, to recognize my "real" (personal) DC 2012 folder w/my own blocks inside instead of the stock? It worked before.

Feb 14, 2012What command turns off the annoying "selection dialog box"? I don't know if it's new or not, but it started showing up this week. I see the purpose, but don't like it or the fact that autocad makes difficult to turn off a feature after it puts it there without warning. Attached is a screen shot of it.

Oct 2, 2013I cannot get the advanced select objects tools to work.
I type:
select <enter>
wp <enter>
Make my polygon, and then I'm stuck in a single item select mode. If I hit enter, they all unselect and I can't do anything. Typing a command (like "m") does nothing.
Typing m <enter>, and then doing the selection yields the same result. At the end of my selection process and I hit <enter>, it sits in the single object selection mode (the little box cursor). Hitting <enter> here again makes the selection dissapear and I'm back to square one.

Dec 7, 2012I am not able to select item and then click command icon. Every time a command has to be started and only then the items to be selected. Drafting speed has reduced. also properties toolbar is also not working. basic props like col, lay etc can not be changed from the drop down menu.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Selection Cycling With XREFs
Jun 14, 2010When using selection cycling (which I think is brilliant, shame we didn't have it 15 years ago) with an xref attached the application slows right down to the point where moving the mouse results in the cross hairs jumping around and making using anything almost impossible. Turning the xref off or turning selection cycling off restores performance to how it should be. If both are on I just cannot use the program at all, shame really as this new feature is neat. I use x'refs extensively so this fault restricts use of the new feature.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Selection Box Not Visible In Some Drawings
May 3, 2010I noticed today that in some drawing files I cannot see the selection box (clicking in a blank area and moving the cursor). I am still able to select things this way, both crossing and inclusive, but I just can't see where the cursor is or the selection box. In other drawings this works as it should with the blue and green boxes visible.
Under options>Display, the colors are set correctly. Under Drafting the aperture slider is at about halfway, but the preview is blank. Under Selection the pickbox size is at a fifth of the way up, but the preview is blank.
I have tried updated my graphics driver to the newest (and AutoCAD recommended) driver.

Ordinarily, when I am trying to select multiple object, I can just create multiple selection boxes and it keeps adding more and more objects to my selection. However, it recently started acting funny--it stopped selecting things after the first box was drawn. No matter how many boxes I drag, it won't add any more objects to my selection.

Dec 15, 2011how to turn off the little flyout menu that comes up when I am trying to use the LAYFRZ command and am selecting an object that is either extremely close to an object on another layer, or directly on top of an object on another layer. I am trying to quickly select a lot of layers to turn off, and when zoomed out I keep having to pick from the drop down menu which one I want to freeze.
I do not need to have this option on most of the time and would LOVE to turn it off as it is slowing me down a lot.
