View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I copy or move an object in a file converted from Microstation to Autocad 2012 the system freezes or slows down to a crawl. If I redraw the drawing in Autocad it works fine. I have a lot of drawings converted from Microstation and I don't need to be redrawing them all.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSomething that's been driving me around the bend lately. I have a drawing, with a viewport which I cannot select. I have unfrozen all layers, ticked the 'Selection Cycling' box, but no lines show. It's just there, a viewport, but with no viewport polyline. No way of deleting, or clipping, or doing anything with it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'd like to add a few stone hatch pattern that I use at work and can not find the location in my laptop. I have AutoCAD LT 2012.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a 3D file (not of my creation) that gives me some problems when I try to copy it (it is a 3D building).
The problem is that, when i click on "copy" command, I can select a point but then AutoCAD crashes and it takes about 30 seconds to return working a normal way and permit me to paste it. (it happens with "move" command too)
Otherwise, if I use "copy with base point" I have no problems: after a second I can paste it where I want.
How can it be possible? Cause if sometimes I mistake and digit "copy", I always have to wait the long Autocad response.
This problem happens with both autocad 2012 and 2013 and it doesn't happen with other 3D files I have. The drawing is made mainly of meshes.
I have a Dell notebook and a NVIDIA Quadro 2000M video card, so you can understand I don't like this problems: I spent a lot of money for something I hoped could work well with AutoCAD.
About that, aren't there drivers for the graphic card? Cause when I click on "check for updates", autocad says me that there are newer version of the driver, but then it says me that it is impossible to update it (I have a connession and a student version).
I have a hatched area (A wall with a column inside wall). I deleted the column and now its place is void (no hatch). How can I extend the hatch pattern to fill the column location as well?
I read some threads about associative or non-associative hatch areas, but I don't think that could solve my problem.
What happened to the option/enter command in the move object dialog that has been around since the early days of Illustrator??? Instead of having to mouse click the "copy" button in the move object window, one could just hold down option with Return or Enter and the Copy command would happen rather than a simple move. Immensely useful for prepress work!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm in the process of moving 100+ dwg files physically, but cannot figure out how to update the drawing locations w/o recreating a Pre-Existing fully populated (names, drawing numbers, etc.) SheetSet. Here's what I want to do:
Move dwg files from one location to another & update the new physical location (Expected/Found/Relative/Full/UNC Path) in a copy of an existing dst.
I've tried moving the files, then updating the Expected Path from within the SSM, but this works on a file to file basis, and takes a long time to perform on a 100+ drawing SheetSet. I've tried using SSMPropEditor, but for some reason, the changes do not stick. The only way that I've found to accomplish this is to use the Archive function (as a folder instead of a ZIP file) from within SSM, but there has to be an easier way to do this...
BTW: I'm using ACAD 2010 on a Core i5 XP machine.
I wrote a program that trys to move all the entities in a dwg file by calculating a grid transformation for each point in each entity. For example to move a pline
Case Is = "AcDb2dPolyline"
Set o2DP = oEnt
retCoord = o2DP.Coordinates
For j% = 0 To UBound(retCoord) Step 3
yaa# = retCoord(j%)
[Code]...
My problem is moving hatch entities. I haven't succeeded in finding equivalent code to move the hatch entities. I did find another post here, but I still don't get it.
Can I pick a 3D sketch and move the whole thing closer to 0,0,0 ? It is currently sitting around 5km,10km,2km from zero.
This makes everything very chunky, and very difficult to visualize anything correctly.
This was generated from a site survey, which was work in progress, it has now all been finalised, but I don't want to loose a weeks work by starting again. (Using AutoCAD to move the points to Zero)
I have some blocks with a point connected to them, the point is free movable, moving the point does not move the block, but moving the block does also move the point. each block has 1 point connected to it.
what i want is to move the point of the blocks i select to the same location. (without moving the blocks themselves)
I am using autocad 2011 (tried to upload the block in question but doesn't seem to be working)
I'm following a tutorial which involves augmenting an existing engineering drawing. Part of the tutorial involves using the MOVE command.
I've been asked to move a facing brick to a new location, however when entering the co-ordinates the brick moves to a completely wrong position.
Here are the steps I'm going through:
Click Move command;
Highlight brick;
click enter;
Enter first co-ordinate;
Comma,
Enter second co-ordinate;
Then Enter.
However, the image them moves to the wrong area.
We have upgraded to AutoCAD Mechanical 2012, and I am having a little trouble finding where AutoDesk has relocated a few of the 2009 commands.
Where is the new location for Copy With Base Point? I used to go EDIT > Copy With Base Point.
I am enjoying a lot of the new features of AM 2012. It will just take a while to get used to where everything is at.
When I want to move an object a certain distance from the original location, I go to long winded trouble of drawing a line and attaching it to say, for example, the centre of a circle. Then MOVE the circle, selecting the base line as the centre to the end of the LINE using OSNAP.
Is this how you Pro's do it, I'm guessing not.
I am trying to copy a part that is in my assembly drawing and then place multiple instances of that part at equally spaced distance between each other. I can copy the part but i don't know how to place the copied part at the distance i want to place it in.

Using ISO.idw template I created into a sheet a Sketch which contains a hatch. Now I want to delete that hatch and I don't find anywhere how to delete it.
The second problem is this: I want to create in multiple sheets the same drawing but with small differences. How to copy a drawing from a sheet to another sheet. I press right click on the first sheet and i press Copy but there's no Paste button.
I've got some troubles to add some hatchs in a 3D solid, or a 3d face etc, in autocad windows, without .net addon.
I can add a hatch, but the hatch is on a plane at the bottom of the solid, but not around the solid.
Is there any ways to do this programmatically?
every time I try to hatch it come up with ‘Unable to hatch the boundary’ and it does this with all hatches except the SOLID hatch, why this is!

When copying a symbol (control c) then pasting (control v) I can move the symbol to another location and left click to drop it. Many times when I do this the symbol disappears and you can't see it. If I re (regen) the the entire model disappears. I can close out the drawing then open it back up the drawing has been restored and the symbol will be at the location that I had placed it at. With the same drawing, I don't have these problems with 2012.

My co-worker is having an issue with re-pathing the autosave location.
When it is re-pathed there is an error that says:
'The directory specified for automatic saves must exist and have read-write permission. The value previously saved for the automatic save files will be used.'
The file that it is linked to was just created, and the user has full administrative rights.
In turn this effectively makes the autosave not work.
I need to be able to snap som lines etc to some hatches. I have set Options - Drafting and unchecked "Ignore hatch objects" and OSNAPHACTH: 1 and it still doesnt snap.

All of the pc's are I7's 8gig Windows 7
The problem is, while making a sketch and trying to hatch it, it's locks up the system. Completely using up all of the resources to the point I have to unplug the pc/hot boot it.
This has been happening on both Inventor 2012 and 2011. (doesn't matter which version of Inventor .. Suite/Prof, Ultimate etc)
I'm thinking it has to be a Windows update that is messing it up, as it worked in the past.

When I try this though,it keeps prompting me that the object isn't one the same plane, or something along those lines.
I've attached the drawing file I am talking about, and its 2013 format.
