View 1 RepliesI'm rigging a model of a robot and I have wires (nurbs circles extruded along a curve) attaching to two objects that are on different joints. I have it rigged so that when the first joint moves, half of the CVs of all the wires (in a control cluster) move along with the joint (and, in turn, the object they are attached to). This much works fine, the extruded nurb follows the curve and stays the same diameter from start to finish. My problem starts with the rigging of the second joint (the second joint is the parent of the first joint). I've tried many different ways of rigging it, but as I'm only just starting rigging my thought process isn't quite a straight line yet. Basically my problem is when the source curves physically move, the extruded surface goes twice the distance as displayed in the picture below.
I need to know how to get the extruded surface to always be in the same place as the curve with out breaking the connection.
Can I create A B-Spline curve and a NURBS curve in the Adobe Illustrator?
If yes, how to do it?
Also, how to create a breakpoint, that will add a new control point, on a curve, in Adobe Illustrator?
When I draw a Nurbs Curve and check Enable in Viewport it is not visible in the viewport. I can change thickness settings, etcetera and see the bounding boxe changing in size but see no visible curve in any of the viewports. Is this a bug in Max 2012? Running Windows 7, 64 bit, Quadro 4000 with latest drivers.

This command does not function correctly for me. Notice that it will ALWAYS draw the arc from the actual end of the object, not the end closest to the selection as it should?

Most of the bend and curve tutorial not really showing the result that I wanted.
I have this weird problem where some objects won't work like the usual. The original pic is like this,but when I see it in thumbnail in windows explorer, some objects are missing but they're still there when you open the file!
I marked the status bar, in those missing objects it says "Curve on Desktop" while other objects of corelDraw, no matter what kind of file, they're always written as "Curve on Layer 1".
And then when I Ctrl+G all the objects above in pic 1, all those objects with Curve on Layer 1 and Curve on Desktop, it becomes like this: I don't know what happened. When I made the shape in the 1st pic, I used old file with similar shape, I only edit the sizes & the colors, but previous File is just fine, only this one looks weird.
i am trying to add CV curves to a scene that I already created.
whenever I draw the curve in side view, it is actually nowhere near the object that I wanted it to be near. Its like super far away and im not sure how to move it to the right spot.
Is there some method to add the curve based on a position of an object?
I know in max its possible to bake out a spline using an animated objects keys. Is something similar possible in Maya?

Is there a way to have Maya generate a curve based upon the path that an object travels upon?
For instance I have a sphere that is moving along the X axis with time, and also moving up and down on the Z axis back and forth. I would like to make an editable curve object of this path of motion.
I can see in Maya 2012 we will have motion trails where we can see the actual path an object is moving along, and that we will be able to interact with this path to alter the animation, but what if we could take that path and make it an actual curve or NURBS object?
Any way to turn an object that has been used as a master (parent object) or its resulting clone back into a normal object?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a dual monitor with max 2011 and after i have created a nurbs curve i go to modify, select the curve then try to active the nurbs toolbox, doesnt matter how many times i click it hasnt appeared. i have reduced the screens to one to see if it had gone off somewhere but it still wasnt displaying. I have a quadro fx 580 and have updated to the latest drivers, I have also updated max.
if it has disappeared of the screen into the area outside my screen (done that before) is there a way of bringing it back to the screen area, top left.
I have created a NURBS rope with Surfaces>Extrude. I choose NURBS so that I could get nice UVs on the rope automatically, but they are actually all stretched out (see attached shot). Is there a setting in the Extrude process that could get more uniform UVs?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI found to model a joystick. I have created a spline mesh, and applied a Surface modifier. The next step is to convert it to an Editable Poly. Fine, no sweat there. The thing is, when i do that, Max creates a ton more vertices; so many that its blatant over kill. My Surface mesh contains only 214 verts, but after conversion, i have over 6000.
Im guessing its adding some kind of smoothing somewhere...? After conversion, the tutorial has no more verts than it did before conversion, and it looks pretty much the same.
Conversion does not add extra vertices?

i was creating a simple character(blobs withen blobs). It was going pretty good until i camme across an issue that i can't seem to fix. I first had his neck as a nurb but i realized to do what i wanted i would need to deleted a couple faces so simple create a polygon the same size and shape. So i draged the nurb over clicked create polygon and i made it. The issues was that i can not seem to get them the same size i went to the channel box and typed in the same numbers for size. It was similiar but, was off the entire object was too big. I tried extruding it to match the same rough height and i got that nurb was on a scale that was about 1.626 times larger this. I forgot to mention that i am running maya 2014 student edition.

I want to draw hyperbola curve whose equation is x^2/a^2 - y^2/b^2=1. May I use equation curve tool to make the above hyperbola.
I have also made a hyperbola curve of aforesaid equation through conventional method on mathematical ground in the past.
I have ran an analysis and SSA gave me Error 607 on the report. It says "Inlet A9 gutter capture curve is not a valid curve."
A couple things I did different from the video lectures...
I selected user define for the Tc to figure out Q. i computed those manually.
For the Inlets I have selected Maximum Capture Cutoff.
There are some inlets in this model I created that do not capture 100% of the flow so i created conveyance links to account for the bypass flow.Not sure why is not recognizing the Curve?
Why in LR4 is the Tone Curve default set to Custom with a contrast lowering curve? I would like the default to be linear, but I can't remember how I set that up in LR3.
