3ds Max :: Viewport - Create Animated Sequence File Quality
May 24, 2011
I set my viewport to render with a "graphite" style, and I click on the viewport's plus sign menu, and choose "create preview" > "create still image file", I get a fantastic anti-aliased, detailed export of the viewport. I'd like to make a movie version of that, but when I choose "create animated sequence file", I get a horrible chewy gross looking version of the still as a movie. Is there a way to improve the quality of the animation version so it looks as good as the stills version does? I've tried a bunch of settings in the animation dialog box, and nothing works.

why the create animated sequence (Make Preview) will often times freeze and get stuck on one frame even though the time is progressing? Quite often when I create my previews, it will progress to a certain point and the frame won’t progress and it will continue to create the same frame over and over even though the time slider is progressing through the animation. I’m using Max 2011 and 2012 but this has happened in 2009 and 2010. To fix it I have to keep a close eye on the sequence images and stop the preview to restart it at the point it stopped.

here are many people who feel that there are better formats available. One of the such format is the animated PNG (APNG). Despite its advantages over GIF, APNG has been rarely heard by content creators. One postulation is the lack of authoring tools and browser support, hence the lack of accessibility in creating such animations. I would like to ask if the future version of Photoshop will ever allow the creation of APNG files.
Is there a good reference that deals with command line formats in scripts?
I'm trying to create a script from an Excel file with a sequence of line commands. However, it seems I have to add a blank line in between each one to end the input. Is there something I can add at the end to avoid having to insert blank lines?
Also have the same problem with the -layer set command.
I built an animated sequence in Photoshop 5, but when I try to add a new frame to the end of it in PS6, that last frame appears in plastered over all the frames before it. Is there something that I have to click on or off to keep that image on the one frame, instead of propigating it ot every frame?
why my video plays faster than the set animated sequence i have saved in the playback preferences. I have a camera on a motion path and have slow the playback speed to 3fps yet when i play the avi video in quicktime after it's rendered it plays much faster.
I made an animated gif but the quality is not as expected. Especially the company logo (wifocarr)I made 2 layers wich have good enough quality but when I did the following thing:
- filters - animation - optimize for gif the qualtiy really got worse.
I'm using a very simple animation, with just 2 sentences been animated, the rest are static images. This is 250 x 250 banner and my requirements are, 50kb max, 30 seconds or shorter and 5fps, when saving as a gif, the quality I'm getting is really poor, is there a way to increase the quality and keeping the same requirements at the same time?
I want to generate an interactive, animated PDF, but the .swf-files i placed to my indesign-file are totally blurry and, as they contain text, unreadable.
What I did is:
- Design my interactive stuff (animated timeline) in InDesign (both CS6 and CC)
- select all the animated elements, export them as .swf.
- place the new file in another InDesign-Document and export it as an interactive PDF-file.
The animated elements DO WORK but are totally blurry and pixelated... No settings in both export-dialogues seem to work.
I'm finding inside 2012 viewport 2.0 that animated textures appear unsupported. They work fine in the regular Default Quality and High Quality modes, but 2.0 as well as rendering in Hardware 2.0 leave the images static.
I have tried iff sequences but it doesn't work for those either.
how can you adjust the "Grab Viewport" -Animation Quality for Nitrous?
Rendering any one of the styles in Animation produces horrific quality, because the viewport renderer does not spend the few extra seconds necessary to generate nice antialiased image-quality.
there is no way to adjust the rendertime. Because this would make this valuable improvement 50% useless again, if you can not use it decently for this purpose.
after working for a while with Max 2013, i have noticed that texture display in viewport is a very poor quality compared to Max 2012, and it is same with display of environment map in viewport.
I have found some ways to manually set texture quality in viewport here, but i would like to know if there is any way to make Max 2013 viewport texture display EXACTLY IDENTICAL to way it was in Max 2012.
For example, if i manually change nitrous texture resolution, then resolution improves, but if i display some environment bitmap in viewport, i get extreme lag when minimizing/maximizing viewports. About 2-10 seconds to minimize/maximize viewport lag whenever there is an environment map displayed in any of the viewports. As soon as i disable display of environment in viewport, viewport minimize/maximize task is instant again.
In Max 2012, when i display enviro map in viewport, i have absolutely no delay in minimizing or maximizing what so ever.
So i would like to know how i can make Max 2013 display same quality of textures as Max 2012, and make it perform same way as in Max 2012 (no lag when switching viewports). From what i understand, viewports in 2013 should be optimized, therefore actually faster, not slower.
I have two viewports in a layout showing 3d objects where I would like to see rendered quality when I print my dwg. How do I get this to work right? As of now the print output is not that great of quality. Shade plot is set to 'rendered' and presentation quality for both viewports.
I find myself at odds with the lack of quality in the Softimage viewport when viewing a scene that has objects placed out in the 11,000 unit range. I am building a large city for a game and it must be to scale, but working from a distance is hard because of the constant flickering and depth issues. Select triangles from objects hundreds of units behind another start appearing in front. This creates a garbled mess of triangles and black backfaces. Judging the overall shape and composition from a distance is critical for a game city, but this cannot be done. I have tried different modes, but there is no real difference aside from a huge FPS drop. After using 3DS Max and Maya, I greatly admire Softimage, and this is the first real issue I have with it.
How to improve the viewport quality at huge scales?
I would like to modify the Quality setting shown in the "Shaded viewport options" section of the plot dialog box (see attachment). The default appears to be Normal, and the options are Draft, Preview, Normal, Presentation, Maximum, and Custom. I want to use Maximum for 11x17 PDF files but I have 1000's. I can't open each file and change the setting, and then Apply to Layout. I'd also like to know what "Custom" means, but I will settle for maximum for now.
Is this option available under PlotSettings somewhere?
I am trying to import photos from my computer to Photoshop elements 11. It has imported most but wont import some as "file quality is too high". How do I get around this? Do I have to downgrade the quality of my photos? To do editing wouldn't you want the best quality photos to start off with?
I am having problems with importing still images into a time lapse sequence in photoshop.I want to create a time lapse using a sequence of still photographs. All file names are sequentially name/numbered.
I am using the Motion workspace, and have followed all of the instructions available. Create correct sized new document (film & video).Create video timeline. Set frame rate. Choose 'create new video layer from file'.Point to first image in the folder where the images are stored. At this point, no matter what I have tried, I receive this error:
I have tried different sized new documents; tried jpegs and tiffs; tried different frame rates, tried different qualities and sizes of images; tried selecting the last image instead of the first (one recommendation).
If I use the 'Place' command from the file menu (and check the 'image sequence' box) instead of selecting 'Create new video layer' from the layers panel, it loads fine and I can still render the video.
It took me most of a day to discover this workaround, but every other reasonable 'how-to' that I can find says that I should be able to do it by opening files into a new video layer and it seems as though the new video layer option may give me more alternatives.
I have reset Photoshop, deleted the settings file, even reinstalled it. I use 64-bit on windows 7 and even installed the 32-bit to try that, but all with the same result.
i have created an Autolisp routine that creates a drawing made up of structural members, x-refs & surfaces based on a few different user inputs. I now want the program to insert the drawing as a block rather than individual elements. My Idea was simply to use the block command in the lisp routine to create a block and then have the drawing create itself in block editor, and close once it has done. however I am having difficulty thinking of a way that I can get AutoCAD to automatically name this block depending on other blocks in the drawing, i.e. in sequence. The name is irrelevent really, but it would make sence for it to be logical, so... if the last block inserted was "b7" then the next one should be "b8" and so on.
Is there a better way of doing it all together? I have read a bit into "entmake" but i'm not sure on how to use that function.
After selecting 2 (or more) files and right clicking and choosing Multi camera sequence from source, I drag the newly created sequence on to the time line but all I get is the two files on the time line stacked over one another. the sequence never gets created.
I need to generate a lightning effect and then export the frames to several PNG images.
I figured out how to do the lightning and how to export transparent PNGs, but I can't get rid of the lightning solid background (which is balck in my case).
I'm trying to create a fade in animated gif based on a youtube tutorial. The tutorial has a background then creates a new image layer. The image layer is duplicated and the opacity is increased from lower to higher values.
A copy of the background is created and placed under each newly created layer.
The video then merges the layers down into the copied backgrounds. This is where my gimp version does not work. My new images will not merge down into the copied backgrounds. Is there a setting that I am missing on my layers?
How to create an animated gif with round corners? I know to create rounded corners for normal images with the crop function, but I don't know how to make rounded corners for animated gifs.
