we've just got 3ds Max at work, and I've started with the most basic of projects you could imagine, beveling a text/spline, which repeatedly crashes 3ds Max on adding the Bevel modifier.
I should add that the program seems to work fine with polys and meshes, and we've done some pretty complex work on it with minimum crashes already, it just seems to be something with these splines.
Where is this bevel tool?

I run into a nasty problem using Ventura 10 on Windows XP.
When I select a text part to give it another colour (e.g. blue) and also it alise and/or bold the text, then after saving these settings are repeated several to many times in front of the indicated text part.
Been messing around with using gaussian in the channels and then applying the texture to something, but this grainy texture keeps sneaking in.
Anyone know how to get rid of the "bumps" in the middle? I made a square, blurred it, messed with the levels a bit, then I contracted the selection to darken the center. Just in case that information might help .
I've tried to create this exact effect, but I'm having no luck recreating it in an acceptable manner. I'm just looking for the glassy/plastic effect, not the actual blueness or background.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create an external involute spline (ANSI B92.2M) Fillet Root Side Fit 26.9mm x 1 mm x 26 teeth x 38 mm long using the spline generator with Inventor 2012. I created a test shaft"M-182-AMA.ipt" that is Ø26.9 mm x 38 mm long with 1 mm radius on each end of shaft.
I use the following steps:
1. After creating component "M-182-AMA.ipt" I select Design tab>>Power Transmission>>Involute Spline.
2. A window appears that has the caption "Involute Splines Connection Generator".In the Dimensions section I choose "Splines Type: ANSI B92.2M - 37.5 deg, Fillet Root, Side Fit, 26 x 1.00 x 38 x 5H/5h" and change the Length to 38 mm.
3. In the Shaft Groove section I use Create new, and I push the Reference 1 button that turns blue, I then select the od feature from the model and I get an error(see attached pic "error1.jpg).
I changed the 26.9mm od to be 27mm and it still gave me the error.

What is the technique to camfer or bevel that inside surface for the collar? It is a secondary sketch which was extruded all the way through the collar. All attempts to bevel yeilded an error message saying the sketch was too complicated
View 6 Replies View RelatedI had several CorelDraw documents that crashes on me, and the auto-backup did not work.
In all these documents, if I open the text paragraph window and typed on it, the entire program will crash if I exit that window after finishing.
I discovered that if I typed directly on the text paragraph, it will not crash. That means do not open the text paragraph window to do editing. But this makes editing very slow since it seems to be more memory intensive.
Strange the auto-backup directory/folder always do not have my backup files too.
Today Illustrator CS4 decided to start crashing on me when I try to paste text into the art board. It will also not allow me to type text into the artboard. Whenever I try to type, it just does all the tool shortcuts. I have alread tried deleting the preferences and that hasn't worked at all.

View 39 Replies View RelatedI have accidentally loaded some patterns more than once and so they are repeated in the list (which is more annoying than anything at this point).
I have checked the manual and it just says to go to any Pattern pop-up menu and to then select the pattern and hold the Alt key and click (pointer turns into scissors) and the pattern will be deleted.
I don't want to delete the patterns by going to program program files > adobe > presets ... or what have ya b/c I do want one copy.
Is there a way to clear them all from the list and then I can reload/import the patterns again?
I have tried to get rid of the duplicates in the list by using the Preset Manager, the Import/Export panel and by (of course) the (above) Alt + Click on the pattern name to no avail. All in all I would just like to keep my patterns organized so as the collection grows I'll be able to manage them better and find 'em more quickly.
After reviewing some of my rendered videos, I find out that most (if not all) of them lose or add a few frames during the rendering. This seems to happen within the first 30 seconds of my 3 minutes clips. My orginal MPEG2 files are OK, but not the rendered MPEG, after editing. To make sure of that, I review them in my Pro X4, I place the original on my main track, and I put the rendered MPEG on the overlay. I can then pin point the exact frame where that problem appears. My original file is of good quality and has been captured wih a hard disk camcorder (Sony SR100).

View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm using photoshop cs6 to create textile designs, and occassionally, (it hasnt happened with every tile) when i change the image size of my tile e.g. from 15cm sq to 10cm sq, then try to repeat the tile it forms thin lines between the tiles?
heres the tile repeated after ive changed the image size and you can see the thin lines...when i zoom in on the tile edges where the line has formed it looks like this....almost as if theres empty pixels that can then be coloured in.
i dont think its a problem when creating the tile because before i changed the image size it repeated fine with no lines, its something thats happeneing when the image size is altered.
I've been using photoshop CS5.1 for a long time with no problems. I upgraded to CS6 which i'm finding unusable due to repeated font warnings. I get interminable dialog boxes appearing over and over: "Adobe Photoshop CS6.app wants to use the font “xxxxxxx” that was downloaded from the Internet. Allow Adobe Photoshop CS6.app to use this font?"
It starts and stops doing this as i attempt to use PS CS6, and it's not just asking about fonts that are used in the document i have open - it does it for a huge list of fonts. And if i click 'Allow' AND 'don't ask me again for this font' it doesn't remember my choice and will ask again.
I need to crop arbitrary shapes (e.g. triangle, star, hexagon, etc.) out of a series of pictures. The number of pictures is relatively small (less than twenty), and I will have to manually select the area to be cropped. But, I don't see how I can crop to, say, a hexagon repeatedly. What I would like is a cookie cutter so I can simply size the shape and then stamp it out.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy co-worker and I have been getting Fatal Error messages a lot recently and there doesn't seem to be any consistent task that is causing them. We've been getting the error messages with multiple different commands and multiple softwares such as ACAD 2009, ACA 2012, and ACAD 2012. We can't seem to pin down anything specific that is causing the crashes. Fortunately with my crashes I can simply restart the software and everything is ok. However, there have been a couple of times that my co-worker's system crashed and he had to have ACAD 2009 re-installed (this is a major pain because we have to go through our IT department to get anything done on our systems). We have different computers. About the only common thing between us is that we are both running the same version of Windows XP on 32-bit systems.

"Edit > Transform > Again" fails to transform any target after a Transform is applied to a Smart Object.
I use certain images on a very regular basis, mainly ellipses. To save me drawing a new ellipse each time, or importing a saved copy of it, is there a way to keep your most body images handy so in just a click possibly 2 you can put them on the new page in Corel Draw X4.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently encountered an error using Max 2010 Design where, a file that I've been working on or have worked on in the past suddenly ceases to open while using Max 64 bit. The file will continue to be openable in Max 32bit, but opening it in 64bit causes instant crashing. I've tried installing the service pack, installing new video card drivers - neither of which fixed the problem.
I really don't know where to look for answers at this point, and do not have free reign of my work machine to request a reinstall / reimaging of my hard drive. I need a solution that I can bring to the IT department that fixes the issue as simply and quickly as possible.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI am running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I have Gimp 2.8.2 installed (Version: 2.8.2-1ubuntu0ppa2~precise). When I use the Text Tool in GImp, and try to change the Font, either via the left had side in the panel, or via the pop-up Gimp crashes. It crashes in 1 window mode, or not. It crashes in my account, and also in a guest account. It also crashes if I remove the scripts via the preferences menu. Here is what I get for an error message:

I select the Text tool (Gimp 2.8) and then I double click to bring up the box that allows me to choose the Font I require. When I use the up and down arrow to find the font that I require GIMP shuts down. It also happens if I don't use the button but use the slider. If I don't save any work before I select the Text tool I lose everything.

When I try to use keyboard shortcuts to cut and paste paragraph text in a document I created with X5 on my old 32bit Win-XP machine, CorelDRAW crashes. I need to be able to work with my old X5 (and occasionally, older) files. Is there a fix for this, or do I need to go scrap X6, and put X5 on my new machine?
