Everytime that I click on the text tool to use it, the program freezes up and Microsoft Windows pops up a message saying 'Adobe Photoshop has stopped working.' I've given in to just using Illustrator for my text, but am finding that I need in now in Photoshop. Anyone have any answers?? I'm getting frustrated??
View 24 RepliesSo i hit the little "T" text tool, and i get the generic Windows 7 "This program has encountered a program and needs to close" error. I click out of the error box, and all my work disappears as well as any changed preferences and recently opened files. The same happens when i try to use Image> Adjustments>HDR Toning. Yay. And what's funny is BOTH errors display a fault module of "CoolType.dll."

I have tried EVERYTHING that everyone has posted about on every computer-related forum that i could find. NOTHING has worked at all. I deleted every single font minus the system fonts, including anything mentioning them in the system registry. Tried new copy of the dll file, nothing. Reset Photoshop preferences, nothing. System restore failed. Uninstall/reinstall of entire Adobe Master Collection failed.

Oh, and in the 32-bit version, HDR Toning works but the text tool gives me an error message that "something prevented the text engine from being initialized." And, well, i just don't want to use the 32-bit version.
I have been experiencing constant crashes to the desktop using a fresh install of CS6 while attempting to use the text tool.

My other problem is that photoshop does not seem to detect my graphics card, it says "Photoshop has detected an error in your display driver" and I cannot access any of the GPU options.

I have updated to the latest version of Photoshop. I have the latest drivers for my graphics card.

I've used the font tool on CS5 before and there was no problem, but now when I use CS6 it either crashes or it lags so much that I have to force quit.
Currently using Mac 10.8.3

It's still doing the same thing with the release version. It seems having Color Burst RIP 6.1 running at the same time causes it.
When I apply liquify tool, Photoshop CS6 crashes each time! Running Windows XP 64-bit 4 GB Ram/ Intel HD i3 graphics card.

In both Photoshop 7 and Elements 2 running under Windows XP my machine hangs after a few clicks with the clone tool. Has anyone else had the same problem? And if so, is there a solution?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using PS 12.0 for a year without incident. Recently I installed Superstition beta and started experiencing crashes both in 13beta and 12. I can consistently reproduce a crash in CS5, Win7 SP1, x64, by opening an existing PSD and then switching to the Type tool. The crash occurs before I even get to see the type tool. I've replaced the prefs a million times using the CTRL+ALT+SHIFT on launch technique.

I have not change type management (not using any font managers at this time). My nVidia drivers are up-to-date (dual 9800m GTX), my RAM is good.
I just installed CS6 last night on my laptop and I was super excited to use it..As I was about to edit a picture, I pressed the Ctrl+T... next thing you know, photoshop cs6 just crashes. My OS is Windows 8, photoshop cs6 64-bit, it's the latest version too!.

I should have the latest drivers, which eliminates what might otherwise be the most likely cause. This happened during beta as well, but I chalked it up to it being a beta version. View 7 Replies View RelatedI had several CorelDraw documents that crashes on me, and the auto-backup did not work.
In all these documents, if I open the text paragraph window and typed on it, the entire program will crash if I exit that window after finishing.
I discovered that if I typed directly on the text paragraph, it will not crash. That means do not open the text paragraph window to do editing. But this makes editing very slow since it seems to be more memory intensive.
Strange the auto-backup directory/folder always do not have my backup files too.
Today Illustrator CS4 decided to start crashing on me when I try to paste text into the art board. It will also not allow me to type text into the artboard. Whenever I try to type, it just does all the tool shortcuts. I have alread tried deleting the preferences and that hasn't worked at all.

So I deleted all fonts except for the required system fonts I believe. But it still crashes when I access the font preview menu. I can't provide a crash log now.

I am using a mac with OS 10.7.
I updated to LR 4.3, ACR 7.3, and CS6 11.0.3 yesterday even though I'm not on a Retina MBP.
Anyway, last night I was doing some edits. Opened LR catalog, edited a RAW in PS, saved the PSD which kicked back to LR. Did some final touch up using the Soften Skin adjustment tool and when I clicked on an area of the photo to make the brush stroke, LR would crash. It did it several times in a row and I finally got it to stop by clicking on the brush tool, clicking done, then reclicking the brush tool. I have LR automatically sending bug reports on crashes.
I've been working on several files for some package design. Every time I try to replace some text that happens to be sitting over a linked photo, illustrator freezes up and crashes. Every single time without fail, it fails.

I started learning Photoshop CS4 about a month ago. One of the first things I learned was to add text. Simple, fun. I am now trying to learn about layer masks. One of the exercises in one of my books is to open an image and then add text to it. (The idea is to then add a mask and 'hide' portions of the text behind portions of the image.) A really strange thing is happening when I try to add text. I highlight the image in the layers column. (Prior to adding any mask layers.) I then click the text tool. But when I click on the image (in the area where I want the text), the text tool 'becomes' a move tool. A text layer pops up and the words I'm trying to type on the image come out in the title area for the layer (in the layers column). I've tried everything I can think of to 'get' the text on the image but can't solve it.Â
View 20 Replies View Relatedi switched gimp 2.6 to 2.8 and new text tool behaves strangely, as i remember in gimp 2.6 when i try to change text content with selecting old text and pasting new text i could use same text size and same font with my old text without doing anything but now in the gim 2.8 whenever i try to change content of a text layer i need to choose again font and text size from toolbox options, but why do i have to do this, i have a text placed on my image with a certain font and certain font size and i just want to alter my text conten not the size of text or font , it changes automatically to back text size and font whatever i used last time in another work.
