I select the Text tool (Gimp 2.8) and then I double click to bring up the box that allows me to choose the Font I require. When I use the up and down arrow to find the font that I require GIMP shuts down. It also happens if I don't use the button but use the slider. If I don't save any work before I select the Text tool I lose everything.
View 8 RepliesI'm having a bit of an annoying issue regarding the text tool. I have a bunch of text layers in an invisible layer group. When I try to create new text in a layer that's outside of this layer group, it will select an existing text layer located wherever I click -- even though the selected text layer is invisible and in another layer group. I simply want to create new text on a new layer wherever I click and not worry about selecting invisible text.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I have Gimp 2.8.2 installed (Version: 2.8.2-1ubuntu0ppa2~precise). When I use the Text Tool in GImp, and try to change the Font, either via the left had side in the panel, or via the pop-up Gimp crashes. It crashes in 1 window mode, or not. It crashes in my account, and also in a guest account. It also crashes if I remove the scripts via the preferences menu. Here is what I get for an error message:

View 2 Replies View Relatedfinally deduced it was when I clicked a video for flagging. I removed the videos from the catalog but that defeats the purpose. I tried the ui.dll and did rename the ui.dll.old file. I unstalled and reinstalled LR5 and update to 5.3. Its working now but like I said I removed the video.

issue was when I put in the ui.dll then LR would not even open up so effectively I did not do the ui.dll because I couldnt,. I did it successfully for lr3 when I had the edit/flagging crashes without issue this is weird.Â
Like the title says, every time I click on "Slideshow", LR5 crashes - immediately (it does start to set up the screen for this module, but never completes). I tried LR4.4 and it works fine. I recently upgraded (about 3 weeks ago) to LR5 from 4.4, and I haven't had any significant problems otherwise.

my corel crashing every time I try to select the color palette menu in the window dropdown, try to change the palette in the solid fill color window, and also in the outline color window. I have tried changing the color preset, reinstalling, resetting to defaults, am updated to the newest version (15.2.0.686), installing the hot fixes, blah, blah blah....... everything.
Win7 sp1, 12 gigs ram, i5 64 bit.
3 out of every 4 times I select a hatch, to edit properties or delete, AutoCAD gives me the FATAL ERROR message and cannot continue. It is not just in one file, but in any file from what I can tell. Not just imported hatches either, AutoCAD standard hatches as well. I have reinstalled, downloaded whatever service pack I could find. This is so harmful to productivity.

Using it to design minecraft textures. The textures are quite small, each block being 32x32 pixels and arranged in a 512x512 pixel sheet. Basically, I'm making a lot of small icons. Now, what I want to do is select an area, and change just some colors within it - like changing all greys for green or all reds for blue. I cannot find how to do this, apart from using the Wand to select the parts by themselves and change - it is possible, but veeery time-consuming (due to low resolution, every pixel that goes wrong will be noticed).

I currently have a >200MB xcf file with nearly 100 different layers which I need to adjust before I merge then down a bit. I have found that you can find where the layer is in the list by holding the left mouse button down while hovering the cursor over it, but it always then disappears off the screen and it's a chore trying to find it. I have all the layers named, but it would be a lot more convenient if there was a way to select the layer through the image itself?

I am having a hard time trying to add a logo to a picture. I open the picture, then I open the logo as a layer and it pops into the center of the photo. Problem is, I don't want it positioned in the center, so how do I select it and move it around to where I want it? Even when the layer is highlighted I can't figure out which tool will let you grab it.

In all these documents, if I open the text paragraph window and typed on it, the entire program will crash if I exit that window after finishing.
I discovered that if I typed directly on the text paragraph, it will not crash. That means do not open the text paragraph window to do editing. But this makes editing very slow since it seems to be more memory intensive.
Strange the auto-backup directory/folder always do not have my backup files too.
Today Illustrator CS4 decided to start crashing on me when I try to paste text into the art board. It will also not allow me to type text into the artboard. Whenever I try to type, it just does all the tool shortcuts. I have alread tried deleting the preferences and that hasn't worked at all.

Now I cut and pasted it to a youth flag football team pic in the corner. But because I captured some of the sky in the background, the yellow STEELERS logo kind of blended in at that point as seen here (I cropped out the team and am just showing the corner):
Is there a way to select this logo by color and at the same time maybe widen that selection by a few pixels to capture some of the black around the STEELERS logo so that when I transfer it to the team pic, it stands out more by essentially creating a border around it?

When drawing, the pointer is offset from where I am actually pointing my mouse. This only happens while drawing or selecting/cropping on the canvas. All the menus work fine, and the mouse works perfectly in other graphic programs and windows.

You select the line, but the Selection tool actually travels a loop around the line. So, when you turn that Selection into a Path, you do not have a single line, but you instead have a loop.
So my question is this: is there any mechanism for making your Selection in GIMP just a single line so that it can then be converted into a Path?
Originally, I was trying to achieve this in Inkscape (and started a thread about it in the Inkscape forum). However, it appears that, although other Vector Art programs can achieve this, Inkscape cannot. So I was thinking that I could instead use Paths in GIMP instead, but this is not possible because of the nature of Selections, as far as I can tell.

I have some paths covering several shapes (Islands, to be precisely), and they've been merged into a path file and bounced over a few documents. View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is happening on the two computers here running x5 on windows 7 64 bit. Sometimes when clicking on text that is on an imported pdf, the program will stop responding. The only way to get rid of it is via task manager, and it takes about 3 mins before that will even respond to the kill process button (as in clicking on the corel process and clicking kill process will not do anything for a couple of mins)
The program window will disappear, but the process will still be there using a few hundred megs. You can load a new copy of corel and open a file, but you cant do anything with the file until the old process gets killed.
The computers are brand new i7's with 8gb ram and ati video cards in them fully updated with windows patches and corel is fully patched as well.
I've always used the method to just press the mouse down and scroll over that type I want selected. This can be iffy way to go, but it does look nice. what is selected is highlighted.
Someone showed me a trick of using modifier key (mac, command) and clicking on type icon. but when do this I just see marching ants, and thing get pretty confusing with marching and what can be adjusted. Is there a quick keystroke to select type and see it just highlighted (selected) the way I'm used to without the marching ants.
In several instances I can't highlight text to copy or to edit, other times it works fine. If I click the radio button for the text in layers (other layers may be locked to prevent accidental selection), the baselines appears and I should be able to highlight the text, but I can't. If I highlight some other unaffected area of text successfully (unlocked layers), sometimes it will allow me to select the problem text directly after.
