I need to crop arbitrary shapes (e.g. triangle, star, hexagon, etc.) out of a series of pictures. The number of pictures is relatively small (less than twenty), and I will have to manually select the area to be cropped. But, I don't see how I can crop to, say, a hexagon repeatedly. What I would like is a cookie cutter so I can simply size the shape and then stamp it out.
View 1 RepliesI've got a question about canvas rotation. Everytime I I try to totate the canvas arbitrarily the qualtiy goes way down, but if I rotate it 90 or 180 degrees it doesn't change. Most of my images need to be rotated 45 degrees. Is there any way to keep the image quality from going down or a way to fix it?

View 39 Replies View Relatedi am looking for a command that will let me take a scan of something and say "make vertical" and have PS prompt me for two pickpoints with the second pickpoint being directly above (i.e. vertical) the other. alternatively i would like to have a way to "make horizontal" and pick two points that i want oriented in a horizontal line to each other.
right now the way i do this is to rotate clockwise or counterclockwise by 90 degrees, then rotate by some arbitrary amount like 3 degrees, and then to do a series of 0.25 degree rotations - as i check by running a rectangular border top to bottom (or right to left) against something in the image until it is almost correctly oriented.
When I scan my photos they are not always straight. I use Image-RotateCanvas-arbitrary command to change the percentage of rotation to straighten image.
I automated the process in "actions" menu to rotate canvas 0.5%CW and 0.5%CCW.
I decided to play a little bit with newly made "action" hotkeys to get used to them.
Now the problem
When I rotated the image 5 times CCW and 5 time CW I noticed that it became significantly distorted, blurred. I tried manually do the same (without automation) same result. With every additional step of rotating, image becomes more distorted, so it is not faulty automation...
Question:
Is it normal?
P.S. I scan images at 24 bit color, 150 resolution.
Basically, I want to be able to create a glass effect on a square icon tile. I want the glass to be translucent so that the image behind the square icon tile is blurry (hence the translucency). I know how to create effect if I want it over some user-defined background layer, but what I am trying to do is a bit different. I need to import a PNG file into a theme program, and it uses this glass tile. I want the glass tile to have the translucent effect, but the problem is, I can only get the effect to work if I create a layer over a user-defined background layer. What I want is to have the translucent effect over whichever background is used in my theme program. I am not sure if this is possible to do with a PNG file, or even possible at all. If anyone could shed some knowledge on this I would greatly appreciate it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have accidentally loaded some patterns more than once and so they are repeated in the list (which is more annoying than anything at this point).
I have checked the manual and it just says to go to any Pattern pop-up menu and to then select the pattern and hold the Alt key and click (pointer turns into scissors) and the pattern will be deleted.
I don't want to delete the patterns by going to program program files > adobe > presets ... or what have ya b/c I do want one copy.
Is there a way to clear them all from the list and then I can reload/import the patterns again?
I have tried to get rid of the duplicates in the list by using the Preset Manager, the Import/Export panel and by (of course) the (above) Alt + Click on the pattern name to no avail. All in all I would just like to keep my patterns organized so as the collection grows I'll be able to manage them better and find 'em more quickly.
I'm cropping a bunch of horizontals to verticals, but how I do match the 2nd, 3rd, after the 1st one I do? I can't figure it out. I made a tool preset after cropping the 1st, but it does not work. Appearantly crop tool needs you to enter the numbers before hand --
I could crop, then screenshot the new settings (very cumbersome) and then enter that im for a new tool preset.
PE11 crops as it prints pictures. Why? I use 4x6 paper to print. When PE11 shows the thumbnail on the preview screen prior to printing the whhole picture is there. But the output shows cropping which spoils the composition of the picture I took. I tried fooling the system by saying that Iwas using 3x5 paper and the whole picture was there but of course there was lots of white space around it. What can I do to get ariound this problem using 4x6 pper?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have some 300 images, all handheld shots done in an on-location studio set. They all need varying amounts of image rotation since they're handheld. There's a beaded curtain in the background, so manually I use the ruler tool, draw a line along a strand of beads, and then image/rotate/arbitrary.
I need to create an action that will (1) do the arbitrary rotation and then (2) save and close the file.
However, when I record this, the value of the rotation of the sample file I'm working is what gets recorded (not surprising). In other words, if image A needs 0.28 degrees of rotation, that's not what I want for image B which might need -0.15 degrees instead. The action recorded 0.28.
Is there a way to create an action that will simply rotate according to the ruler once I've drawn it?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm using photoshop cs6 to create textile designs, and occassionally, (it hasnt happened with every tile) when i change the image size of my tile e.g. from 15cm sq to 10cm sq, then try to repeat the tile it forms thin lines between the tiles?
heres the tile repeated after ive changed the image size and you can see the thin lines...when i zoom in on the tile edges where the line has formed it looks like this....almost as if theres empty pixels that can then be coloured in.
i dont think its a problem when creating the tile because before i changed the image size it repeated fine with no lines, its something thats happeneing when the image size is altered.
I've been using photoshop CS5.1 for a long time with no problems. I upgraded to CS6 which i'm finding unusable due to repeated font warnings. I get interminable dialog boxes appearing over and over: "Adobe Photoshop CS6.app wants to use the font “xxxxxxx” that was downloaded from the Internet. Allow Adobe Photoshop CS6.app to use this font?"
It starts and stops doing this as i attempt to use PS CS6, and it's not just asking about fonts that are used in the document i have open - it does it for a huge list of fonts. And if i click 'Allow' AND 'don't ask me again for this font' it doesn't remember my choice and will ask again.
From my original picture, I have selected an area (which took about 1/2 hour to carefully select!) and have cut it out into a new layer. What I now want to do is save the file in this state, so that I can repeatedly change the colour of the selection to different colours, at different times, as I find new colours to use!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just went through and cropped a bunch of images as a 5x7. When I re-opened the images to put our studio logo on them (using an action) the images are a similiar ratio to the 5x7 size that I cropped the image, but they are not actually a 5x7 so my action no longer puts the logo in the correct place on the image. Is there a way to get the crop tool to not give me a ratio but actually size the image to the size that I input into the boxes? I don't want to have to re-do all of my logo actions to fit the ratios.

You want to rotate it back to a 90 degree line by snapping it.
I can do this by measuring the arbitrary angle and then rotating it manually based on my measurement.
I have a line (not a polyline) that i need to extend by dragging one end to an arbitrary location but must conserve the orientation of the line. I then have to drag the other end point in the opposite location to a location that I pick (ie, not a cad feature, but by human eye)
POLAR works good in that i know the angle, but the line is allowed to be drawn wherever, and i need to focus on precisely where i extend the line too and not that the angle is changing.
Using Lasso i have created a good shape that i require in my work. so now i want to save that shape i have drawn to custom shapes so that i can use it later also in my future works.

But every time I crop one corner of the image, it automatically crops ALL OF THE OTHER DUPLICATES TOO!!!! I have tried just importing the same image four times as individual layers, but that doesn't work either! Why does one layer affect all of them?!

View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter reviewing some of my rendered videos, I find out that most (if not all) of them lose or add a few frames during the rendering. This seems to happen within the first 30 seconds of my 3 minutes clips. My orginal MPEG2 files are OK, but not the rendered MPEG, after editing. To make sure of that, I review them in my Pro X4, I place the original on my main track, and I put the rendered MPEG on the overlay. I can then pin point the exact frame where that problem appears. My original file is of good quality and has been captured wih a hard disk camcorder (Sony SR100).

In the Print module (LR4.3) under Layout, the unit intervals for margins and cell size seem to be arbitrary. For example, I can get margins of 0.93 or 1.03 inches left and right and 0.94 or 1.06 inches top and bottom, but not 1.00 inch all around. Similarly I can get a cell size of 4.02 x 6.04 inches or 3.93 x 5.95 inches, but not 4.00 x 6.00 inches. why Lightroom offers such seemingly arbtrary measurement intervals or what controls the intervals?
