3ds Max Modeling :: Make Actual Audio Shaped And Animated Surface?
Sep 6, 2011
How can I make an actual audio shaped and animated surface? So that a second or two of an audio file is visible and moves across a plane as a wave or ripple? Something quite often seen in graphics but seemingly quite difficult to make in max.
I do not want a simple audio controlled wave / ripple modified surface as this only has evenly spaced wave lengths and is not a representation of actual waveform data.
So far I have made an audio shaped spline out of an audio controller trajectory and can lathe or extrude this into an audio shaped surface.
But how can I make an animated to real sound surface?
I have imported a model from C4D using the FBX importer, and everything was fine, except that it was way to big. I scaled it down to a more "manageable" size. So the scale reads 0.01 (All axis).
My question is, is there any way I can make Scale reflect the actual object size? Maya know these numbers, because they are present when using the universal manipulator tool. I would like it if the scene scale could reflect the real size of the object. So if i create a new object, the size relates to the size of the existing objects in the scene?
Can i put the real scale on the object, and then just "downscale the scene", so that the objects don`t appear giant? Like scene scale or something?
It is not possible forme to add the fil because it is to large 1.8MB how can I poste then I like to know if it is possible to extend the button flat surface diameter ø12.5 up to the shaped surface. The result should be a total solid block whit a surface shaped hole.
File last up-date with Autodesk Inventor Professional 2013
i've created this simple building and used boolean to cut some areas. now i got a really messed up topology which makes it real hard for texturing matters. how do i fix those edges highlitened in the picture. i want to make them as one solid quad rather than having multiple triangle shaped faces.
Is there a way to surface this geometry with a single surface entity?
I had to use 2 lofts to "surface it" instead of region due to lines being non-coplanar with the arc (in other words top most corner is higher than the other adjacent 3 corners).
I am start work in civil 3d 2009, I have a project started in LDD2009 and am trying to migrate to civil 3d 2009. I have imported the points, tin, and contours but cannot figure how to create an actual EG surface. Can some on etell me how to create and actual EG surface using tthe tin and points.
I've seen animations that were taken from music videos or movies but not the typical square or rectangular shape but asymmetrical etc. I've even seen an animation shaped like a cloud.
How the heck do I do that? I know how to make animations but how do I get them to be oddly shaped.
I have an older version of GIMP. I set text on a J-shaped path. It shows as purple with no fill. I want the text to be black, as the original text was. What do I need to do to make the shaped text be black?
I have a grid of objects—say, tiny squares. I'd like to make arbitrarily-shaped selections of those objects—for instance, select a star-shaped group of the squares. Or a circle-shaped group of the squares. Or use text paths to select letter-shaped groups of the squares.
I could imagine a utility that lets me choose an arbitrary shape/path, and then turn that into a selection of objects on the canvas. Is this possible?
Right now I'm stuck using the lasso tool to hand-draw shape selections but it's not accurate enough for what I need to do.
I'm working on a UDK level for a college assignment.
I want to create a circular shaped elevator with a circular fence around it that's roughly half the size of an average sized character standing on it. I then wish it import this as a static mesh into UDK.
Here are 2 sketched up designs of the elevator, what I want to create.

I am very new to 3DS Max so I would prefer a list of steps to follow to create this elevator with a a fence,

I’m new to this forum and to 3D animation. I am a long time user of Corel draw and Final Cut Studio.
I am preparing for a video project that will involve a lot of 3d animation and am thinking of using Maya (on a Mac).
Can I use Corel draw or Adobe illustrator to create basic models for importing into Maya?
In particular, I have created some very complex 2d contour maps, the specific geography of which is important and must not change, each contour height has been given its own drawing layer so that I can easily manipulate the maps. Can I import and then create 3d animated landscapes from this type of graphic in Maya ?
How best to make the stone facets go sideways into the main tower. As you can see though it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. How I could achieve such results?
is there a way to make it so everything that appears on the artboard is hidden/invisible, and have it so my vector shapes/images only appear inside rectangle/panels?
As of now, if I am to create a comic using the pen tool, and some parts of the vector are outside the rectangles (panels) I made, I would either have to use the knife tool to cut off the vectors outside, or hide the vectors outside the panels with white rectangles (since my artboard is white).
When I press File Open in my PSE 11 and look for Camera Raw files, they all show PSE 11 icon which makes it hard to find where is the image I am looking for? How do you make these CR2 ehumbnails to show the actual image?
If you look in the attached PDF, I have an elliptical wall that also has changes in elevation. call it a compound radius if you will. What I have to do is to make a wall cap to go on top of the wall. I know, sounds fun.....I have the surface on the right of the PDF and i need to figure out how i can take that shape and have it lay flat so that i can cut this shape out on my CNC. i know I can use the FLATSHOT command, but this will not give me the true shape of the board.
So I have multiple objects in the scene, its a weapon comprised of several parts. All the parts are touching. Is it possible to select all the objects and create a single object of just the outside surface area? I know I can go through and connect them peice by peice using boolean but the polys are off so it starts to distort my objects when the peices connect. I dont want to just group the objects I only want the shell so I can use pepakura to flatten the single object out.
I basically want to remove all of the black background from the image so that the animated tesseract is all that remains. I know how to open the gif to expose the layers using ImaegeReady, then edit them in PhotoShop.
But when I made the black areas of each layer transparent (by selecting the RGB channel, inverting the selection, and hitting delete), saved a copy, and tried viewing it, it seems to just display all of the transparent layers constantly instead of cycling through them. Code:
As you can see this is T.I i have taken this from some ones site, i would be most greatfull if some one could help me do the exact same thing this person done. a step by step tutorial to how to gain this outcome would be excellent,
is there a easier way to make flashing animated gif? like the photoshop way? one that I don't have to add the white lines one by one, next to each other?
I am trying to do a simple retopo modelling. In many other soft you only need to turn on snapping to get your retopo model vertexes/edges following a surface of a hi-res reference object.
Seems I can't do so in Max because it tend to snap to faces of the same object I am working on.
Is it possible somehow to snap to faces of other objects only so the currently edited object faces would be completely ignored/excluded/invisible for snapping?
I'm trying to create a surface between 2 splines. See attached image. I normally do this in AutoCAD very easily but I I'm playing around with the Max modeling tools.
I have tried drawing a spline between them and using loft. But the loft surface does not go between the two splines.
I have tried drawing a spline between them, converted them to nurbs and tried a number of the nurb surface options such as 2 rail and ruled. But they both create a surface but the surface does not go the full length of the splines.
