Is there a way to surface this geometry with a single surface entity?
I had to use 2 lofts to "surface it" instead of region due to lines being non-coplanar with the arc (in other words top most corner is higher than the other adjacent 3 corners).
It is not possible forme to add the fil because it is to large 1.8MB how can I poste then I like to know if it is possible to extend the button flat surface diameter ø12.5 up to the shaped surface. The result should be a total solid block whit a surface shaped hole.

On AssemblyConstraints what is the difference between EntityOne(Two) and GeometryOne(Two). When should one be used over the other?
Likewise with AffectedOccurrenceOne(Two) and OccurrenceOne(Two).
I'm borrowing from the samples library in the Inventor:

Works fine, and is fairly simple, but the problem I'm having is if I press the escape key after starting the command, but before making my selection, I'm not able to start the command again.
I realize from my searching that using the Selection (Simple) sample allows for an interrupt, with some modification, was just wondering if there was something similar for this simpler selection option.
When we launch the Area comand the area value is hold in the system variable "area".
What is the system variable that holds the Length value of the selected entity?
A defined block "DH" has:
A circle on layer CIR having a color of red...
A defined attribute on layer ATTR having a color of white...
The insertion point is the center of the circle...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a complex 2D geometry (.dwg layout) I want to wrap onto a 3D tube. Is there and easy way to do this in AutoCAD Mechanical or Inventor (preferably AC Mech)? My machine takes a 2D flat pattern to create the part but i need to model the geometry in 3D for other purposes. I have been using Solidworks the "wrap" feature, but its inconvenient to jump between software platforms.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow can I make an actual audio shaped and animated surface? So that a second or two of an audio file is visible and moves across a plane as a wave or ripple? Something quite often seen in graphics but seemingly quite difficult to make in max.
I do not want a simple audio controlled wave / ripple modified surface as this only has evenly spaced wave lengths and is not a representation of actual waveform data.
So far I have made an audio shaped spline out of an audio controller trajectory and can lathe or extrude this into an audio shaped surface.
But how can I make an animated to real sound surface?
I have 20 pieces of geometry that when assembled create a single object. In my layers window, it shows all 20 pieces under a single layer. When i attach all object so create a single object, all the layers "sub-layers" stay intact.
I have never noticed this before, but would have assumed that the layer would have been consolidated to reflect the singular object in my viewport. Is Max acting the way it should?

I have a curved solid with a pattern subtracted from it in a model representing a sheet of mdf . is there a way to flatten the surface of the solid to get the geomerty of the cuts. I supose is same as matrial map.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is a very old project and even with more knowledge in 3D, still unable to do it. I have a stool with incline legs using the LOFT command (Extrude with Path can also do it). Now I need to add a tranverse section. I wanted to have the tranverse section same dimension as the leg.
Given the inclination of the leg, it is impossible and futile to align ucs using 3 points or face because there is no 90 deg between the two edges. Further more given there is no extrude to face as in inventor, it is sound difficult to extrude between the "/" form and the "" form of the two legs.
D problem? On geometry, is there a rule to adapt here with respect to section dimension?
I would like to add additional entities to the selection if any of the selected entities contains a an xdata value.
If I put the condition into the ImpliedSelectionChanged reactor I imagine will probably loop back on itself.
Can i flatten something like You can find on the pic. ( this one is from CATIA ) or something like this. Not everything, just surface by surface. When i draw similar thing, i had problem, because i dont know how to flattern single surface, All of them are curved.

Is it not possible to open a scene file created in Maya 2014 with earlier versions of Maya?
PROBLEM #2: Cannot create wireframe rendering of geometry with surface Shader + mib_ambient_occlusion as in earlier versions of Maya.
I have used Quad Draw to create geometry on the surface of an object, this geometry and its pivot can be seen in picture 1.I then try to mirror this geometry to the other side of the object's surface using the settings shown in picture 2
I get a mirror, but not based on the pivot, but it seems the mirrored geometry wants to be attached to the original drawn polys as shown on picture 3. Could it be a bug or is this how Quad Drawn objects are intended to behave?
I have a series of Autocad Objects (3D faces). I need to turn the contiguous group of them into a SINGLE Autocad surface. I know next to nothing about vanilla autocad and 3D stuff. Seems there must be a way to make a surface out of objects. I would then use this resulting surface to carve a solid. DWG with 3D faces in it attached.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have created a TIN (triangulated irregular network) of an existing survey in my terrain modelling software (12d Model). I am able to export (save-as) the TIN as 3D Face Triangles for opening in AutoCAD (2012) or similar.
My ultimate goal is to create a solid surface in Inventor. The surface has to be seemless (stitched) in order for me to create a new sketch and extrude to this surface. Finally giving me a part in Inventor that represents my ground. I would then want to use the same process to bring into Inventor all other Civil Design works created in 12d Model such as roads, earthworks platforms (including dams) etc.
I've tried stitching (Inventor and Microstation) without success. Inventor keeps crashing and Microstation looses data. AutoCAD (2012) won't let me create a polyface mesh from 3D Faces. I tried doing a mesh, surface union without success. Programs either crash or data is lost.
Is it possible to merge two or more adjascent / overlapping surfaces into a single surface?Is it possible to "Delete" multiple surfaces in one go?

I can easily do this with an assembly, but I'm wanting to do this with a single part. I tried to derive a new part from the assembly, but the transparent part turns solid so nothing inside is visible. Is it possible to do this?

I am using AutoCAD R14. I need to create a solid which is sort of wedge shaped. But the top surface twists (like a propeller blade). So it is not in any one plane. Also, that surface is not square (no right angles). The bottom surface is flat and in the x-y plane. It is a quadrilateral. The other three sides are a rectangular flat surface and two triangular flat surfaces.
I don't know how to create this shape as a solid. I was able to create several polylines to accurately describe the shape but then when I tried to join them together to create a solid using the UNION command I get the following error message: "At least two solids or coplanar regions must be selected." How can I create this solid?
i'm trying to create a custom shaped viewport. Instead of using just a rectangular viewport I need to make it polygon shaped. I know I've done it before but for the life of me I cannot remember how. I'm using ACAD MEP 2011.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI need to export points from 3D map as a .shp file so I can bring them into Maya and have them line up exactly where they need to be based on their coordinates. The points line up pretty close to right in map 3d, and they have a style assigned to them. When I go to the Map --> Tools --> Export, I choose .shp as the file output, and go through and select the layer I need to export. When I've got everything set up, I get an error message saying "no entity to export." I have searched on the internet for this error but not a lot comes up. I'm not sure what I'm missing in order to make the points export.
