3ds Max :: 20 Pieces Of Geometry That When Assembled Create A Single Object

Mar 2, 2011

I have 20 pieces of geometry that when assembled create a single object. In my layers window, it shows all 20 pieces under a single layer. When i attach all object so create a single object, all the layers "sub-layers" stay intact.

I have never noticed this before, but would have assumed that the layer would have been consolidated to reflect the singular object in my viewport. Is Max acting the way it should?

Maya Modeling :: Create Geometry On Surface Of An Object

Jun 21, 2013

I have used Quad Draw to create geometry on the surface of an object, this geometry and its pivot can be seen in picture 1.I then try to mirror this geometry to the other side of the object's surface using the settings shown in picture 2

I get a mirror, but not based on the pivot, but it seems the mirrored geometry wants to be attached to the original drawn polys as shown on picture 3. Could it be a bug or is this how Quad Drawn objects are intended to behave?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Create Single 3D Object From Multiple 2D Sections?

Feb 27, 2013

Is there a way to create a 3D object such as a motor, by using 2D sections from multiple view points? For instance, I have a side view, front view, and rear view of a motor in 2D but I would like the motor in 3D. Besides cutting one of the views in half and revolving around it or push/pulling an enclosed area a certain distance for each individual feature of the motor or extruding many faces is there a QUICK and SIMPLE way to do this?

GIMP :: How To Cut Lots Of Pieces From 1 Layer And Create Many Layers

I'm trying to create a nice example of a paintscheme. In order to do this correctly I need to cut lots of pieces from a picture taken from the original truck end make them in to several layers.

Now I have done this, as you can see here, not very well. There are a lot of lines that aren't cut very nice and smooth. Most of this cuts I did with the scissors tool. The tank I cut with the path tool.

What is the best way to cut pieces from images?

ps the coloured pieces are experimental

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Object Information To Object Geometry

Mar 12, 2012

I'm making a surface out of contours. The problem is the contours have the elevation listed under object information, not geometry (the contours were brought in from a GIS file, which I do not have access to, or I would bring them in again with the elevations properly assigned, this is not an option). How can I quickly change the geometry elevation property to match the miscellaneous property?

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6 :: Object Styles - None For A Single Object Attribute?

Dec 9, 2012

Is there a way to exclude single attributes from being defined in a object style? As example: i want to define an outline that does not change width of the objects, but everything else.

There is a small tick box right of every attribute with help text "None   this object attribute is not defined by a custom style" but i can not mark it. My feeling is, that i need to switch on this tick box to get the result i need, but i can not. When i click on it, it just gives me a greyed out "Revert". When i try to make child styles, there is a way to break the connection to parent style with these tick boxes, but no luck.

Is it a bug? I tried it with X6, X6.1 and X6.2

AutoCAD Inventor :: Plates Assembled And Welded - How To Treat Box As A Part

Nov 15, 2011

I have a bunch of plates.  The plates get welded to make a box and sent for stress-relieving. The box comes back and gets machined before it gets more parts added to make another assembly.

How is the best way to handle this in Inventor?

So far, I have created individual parts for each side of my box as each side is unique.  Then I have created an assembly bringing together each part (at this point I have not made any welding on my assembly).  Then I created another assembly to bring in my box to machine.  I have noticed that the feature "thread" to create a NPT hole is not available in assembly.

After the plates are assembled and welded to make a box, I would like to treat the box as a part no longer as an assembly.  Can it be done that way?

3ds Max :: Geometry Not Rendering For Plane Object

Jan 30, 2012

I have a scene set up like the picture below but for some reason when I go to render it out, the geometry isn't there for the plane object. I've set it up like that because I have the ball emitting fire and then deflectors along the plane so the particles move across them as if they fire was contained and the particle system reacts in this way but in the final render the geometry for the plane isn't there. I've went through the object properties and renderable is checked.

AutoCAD Inventor :: A Global Transient Geometry Object?

Jul 2, 2013

I've found myself using this code often:

// Get the transient geometry object. We'll use this to create pure geometryCComPtr<TransientGeometry> pTrGeom;pTrGeom = pApp->TransientGeometry;

But I was thinking, once I have pTrGeom can I just declare a global to hold it while my Inventor instance is running?

Alternatively I suppose I could have a global function which does this:

CComPtr<TransientGeometry> GetTransientGeometryPtr(){ static CComPtr<TransientGeometry> pTrGeom = NULL ;
if (pTrGeom == NULL) pTrGeom = pApp->TransientGeometry; return (pTrGeom) ;}

So it reduces to a one-liner. But in COM is that static valid? I know the code is not complete above, but you get the idea.

What do other C++ COM programmers do here...?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Create A Plane In Assembly Linked To 3D Geometry

Sep 24, 2012

On one part, I have a bore hole drilled on a curved surface so the hole is actually an ellipse.

Now the other part I am trying to constrain together is the pipe that will be welded into the bore hole; so that is a simple circular pipe.

The issue is that the pipe has to be inserted 0.25" above the interior of the bore hole to allow for room for the weld. In order to do this I have tried to create a plane attached to the 3D ellipse and then constrain the pipe to be 0.25" above that plane. The problem is I cannot seem to create a plane attached to the 3D geometry; I cant even find a way to attach points, or pick the center point of the bore hole.

How to create a plane on 3D geometry and link it to said geometry. I'm using 2012, if that is necessary information.

3ds Max :: Remodeling Single Object For Use With Animation

Apr 5, 2012

I am new to 3DS and modeling in general. I am interested in getting into the programming end of game design and was hoping to get decent at working with animations in the process. I have downloaded tons of fantastic models/scenes, but all of them are single objects and that makes animation difficult. Primarily, I am working with biped models and need to be able to move their limbs independently and faces where I need features to be able to be moved simultaneously in different ways.

I have looked up tons of tutorials and have the concept of how to move independent objects through the time frame, but I have no clue how to take a single object, break down its components, and use them individually while still having them be linked. Again, I know how to make simple objects and join those objects at pivots, I just seem to be having trouble working backwards.

I tried working with the object as editable mesh and had trouble getting all of the wires into objects and maintaining any sort of realism in animation as things seemed to be willing to go all over the place (having done a bad job at attaching the mesh into good objects), is there a better way than clicking and dragging and hoping you go everything you needed without things you don't?. I was hoping there was a way place pivot joints within your model and then connect those pivot points with bones.

where I could get prefabbed scenes with models created specifically for animations. I could be missing something completely here, but there has to be a way to animate individual components of single objects, or else the purpose of having single object models is lost to me .

AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Create Sketch Geometry Used To Define Planes / Axis And Points

Nov 6, 2012

I am using projected and sketched geometry (2D sketches) in assembly space to create lines/ points that I intend to use to define planes and axes. The problem I have is that nearly all the geometry I create (lines and points in 2D sketches) is not "selectable" when I try to create planes or axes.  I  cannot even put a work points "on top of" my sketch points.  Why are my sketches not usable in the assembly space?   Since the components in my model are just two extruded rings I don't have any linear edges I can select to make this work/ define planes.
