I have an alignment for a natural gas pipeline.
I want to use the 'Create Points at Alignment Geometry' tool in order to label only the PIs. However, when I use the tool it creates two points (one called PI and one called CPI) at each vertex of the alignment. How can I fix this issue and toggle the creation of the various other geometry points?
I have an alignment label that I normally use to show the PVI's of a profile in the plan view.
This is a little unusual, but in a specific case I wanted to design my profile at one alignment, but show it at another. I designed my swale profile in the pathway profile view and then superimposed the swale profile on the swale profile view. I then went back to the swale alignment to add these labels.
It's a no-go AFAICT. The only profile available for me to select for these labels is the original ground profile from the surface.
I want to snap to the PI of an offset alignment. Civil 3D refuses to find the snap point. I can't even use Apparent Snap from the 2 tangents.I've seen this behavior with other C3D objects and it is most aggravating. How do I snap to that point?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using projected and sketched geometry (2D sketches) in assembly space to create lines/ points that I intend to use to define planes and axes. The problem I have is that nearly all the geometry I create (lines and points in 2D sketches) is not "selectable" when I try to create planes or axes. I cannot even put a work points "on top of" my sketch points. Why are my sketches not usable in the assembly space? Since the components in my model are just two extruded rings I don't have any linear edges I can select to make this work/ define planes.

I have an alignment and would only like to label stations and specific geometry points such as EC/BC. When I add geometry points to my label set it automatically gives me curve midpoints and beg/end of alignment. How can I turn off these labels so that I only get BC/EC?

How is it possible ? C3D can detect the type of geometry poinr, so it would must to know R, Lenght,. A, etc....
In addition I 'd like to do it using the aligment label set.... sci-fi , isn't it ?
When you have to create plans, the aligments need to show a lot of information. Doing it manually is so boring..... (and in XXI century ...... )

I see that Neilw asked about exporting alignment and profile to the data collector. My problem is this. We use Trimble Links to send data to our data collector and that is fine, but the surveyor cant stake out the points or anything. We can see the info is in the data collector, but how do you set out anything. Is there a setting maybe on the TSC2 that we are overlooking? We have Civil 3D 2012.

This is the second time I’m highlighting this issue. I couldn’t acquire the points of the alignment shown in the curve below
The issue here is that the C3D does take the “starting station” as station point but it doesn’t take the “ending station” as station point and thus doesn’t proceed
What might be the problem here? How to let the C3D take the “ending station” as station point but not as coordinates point? Also it doesn’t accept clicking the end point to take it!!

Creating points at the stations of an alignment,
I wanted to get the (x,y,z) of the stations of an alignment, but sounds not to work.
In the screenshots below, I got the message “The specified station is not valid for this object” and couldn’t proceed!

i need to put points on an alignment at each station. i've figured that part out. what i want is the station label to be the point description. i don't see a way to do this without editing each point which is way too time consuming.

When I create a report from 'Staion offsets to points' to excel, the Station, (what I would call chainage) is coming up as 3+10.00 in the spreadsheet. I need this to be 310.000 so I can apply formulas in excel. How do I change this.
I've changed the alignment label style to show it as this format, and it works fine. I've also gone into 'Edit report settings' and changed alignment station display to ####, decimals to 3 places, yet it keeps giving me the same format with 2 decimals.
Also, in this report, how do I remove the metre symbol 'm' (i.e 1400m) from the offset and elevation display?

I need to place points automatically and in order sequentially along an alignment and I need to generate data from the points relative to an adjacent alignment. SO, two alignments, adjacent but not parrallel to each other. The data would then be point #, sta and offset from the adjacent alignment with the points placed in order and by window or crossing. I have a few thousand to place so one at a time would be an undesireable solution of course.

I've set all the settings I can find to round coordinates to 4 decimal places, Distance to 2 decimal places, and Direction to the nearest second (DMS). When I execute the PI Station Report, the Distance is 3 decimal places and the Direction is to the nearest 100th of a second. how to get these to the correct decimal place? I managed to change them to the correct decimal place for a Station & Curve Report, but not for the PI Station Report. Also, for the Northing/Easting coordinates, I want to remove the commas (for example, a Northing of 3,058,715.3774' should read 3058715.3774').

I have had a go with the AddAlign Labels command but could not figure out how to add an elevation value to the label. Also this method seems to require manual input for each label which is not practical as I will have have around 450 points to set out.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe street is a 'T'. The alignment is extended... Sta 0+00 starts 100' back and the intersection at centerlines starts at 1+00. The alignment is masked between 0+00 and 1+00, but that obviously doesn't make a difference for the intersection wizard.
The intersection wizard does not give me a choice, it just presumes a 4-way intersection. How do a do/choose a 3-way 'T' intersection in this case?

I'm attempting to create a profile view and then modify the label by overriding the text components. Unfortunately the profile view bands don't populate the labels until after my command is complete making it not possible to modify them in one command. Is there a way to update the band to have it show the labels?

I have a drawing and want to create an alignment in Civil 3D. I have my line, which is 987.83' long. However, when I create the alignment, the stationing runs from 0+00 to 118+53.92 instead of 0+00 to 9+87.83. This is a factor of 12. The properties tab reports a length of 11853.92 for the line as well. However, when I dimension the line, it displays the correct dimension that I want in feet.

When I try to create a feature line using an alignment/ profile, sometimes it gives me a feature line for the entire alignment, even though my profile is only a small segment. I made sure I selected the correct profile, and I even deleted all other surface profiles just in case. But it still gives me a wonky feature line for the entire alignment.
However, in the same file, other profiles have worked perfectly.
I have been using the "Create Surface Profile" to create cross sections of a road at various points using separate alignments (at the various points). I was wondering if there was a more sophisticated way to do this? When comparing my work to other plans it seems that this method is juvenile.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is with Civil 3D 2013. I am able to create a pline by offsetting an alignment using any drawing on any other workstation in our office, but on my machine I get an error: "1 object(s) were filtered out." when I try to select the alignment.
This leads me to searching for some system variable or something that is different on my machine.
I am working on creating an alignment from a single polyline. The polyline, which was originally created in Carlson 2012, is a flat polyline that is about 1200 feet in length. When I select it with create alignment from object, it accepts it and seems to work. For some reason though, the stationing is way off --- e.g. the true 50' mark is showing up as 0+04.17 which results in an end station of 0+99.31 on a 1191' polyline.
edit> I also have tried this with a brand new polyline I created in civil3d, same issue.
Having a rough time with Pipe Networks! I am working an example from the Mastering C3D book (P. 371) as in the following steps:
1.Clicked SS structure(16)
2.Selected Create Alignment from Network on ribbon
3.Selected last structure(18), hit Enter
4.Changed options as needed in Create Align from Network - Create Profile and Profile View check box: Selected
5.Changed options and clicked Create Profile View
At this point the program pauses, then a dialog box trys to partially fill the screen but is all white then fades away as fast as it appeared and I'm stuck with a paperweight that beeps at me everytime I click the mouse, no panning or zooming response at this time. The command line is prompting me for the profile origin. I can switch to other apps and bring up TM and when I attempt to end C3D then it tells me that it can't because waiting for response. I can then cancel the prompt to save the drawing and C3D exits the active command and control is returned.
