3ds Max Modeling :: How To Check To Maintain Or Improve Diagonals
Mar 22, 2011
The plug-in does not retain the orientation of Diagonals on Editable Poly objects. This could have an impact on modified UV coordinates. Refer to the Online Help for more information. The following objects are affected: -Tube001
So, how to check, maintain or improve those diagonals? and what they mean "diagonals"?
I noticed that in 3ds max 2012, when i split an edge or detach a polygon the smoothing at that point changes and seam is visible. I think that in previous versions when i did the same thing the smoothing remained. Is there a way to prevent this?
I am new to Maya, and I have just started to learn modeling. I am trying to check X-Ray from "Shading" in my side view so I can model against a drawing that's on a plane. However the X-Ray option does not look active - it is gray while the rest of the Shading list is in black - and does not let me check the checkbox.
I am trying to follow the Lynda Maya 2013 Essentials video, if you are familiar with it.
I have this stubborn picture. Just wondering if anybdy can improve its quality. It is too dark on the lower side. Or what can I do to make it look as good.
i want to make this logo stand out more or be nicer but still not to be more important that the other info i have on my site do you have any suggestions??
I would like to sharpen & brighten a number of different b & w images - mostly etchings & prints - but it seems like gimp is exclusively color oriented.
Attached is a sample of the type of image I want to work on.
I have some VHS tapes from the 80-90's of my Mum. I have imported these onto my PC. I would like to improve the quality when viewed on a modern TV. Can I do this in VSX5 or is there another way?
how to improve the box resizing tools ('S' & 'M'):
1) the shift key currently only constrains proportions when dragging the corners. make it also constrain proportions when dragging edges (keep the opposite edge-center box in place).
2) can you add an 'Alt'-key modifier that fixes the center of the selection, instead of the opposite corner/edge?
Here are some of our samples. We are just starting out. We would like to know if these would be considered professional enough? we aren't using global illumination because our computer can't handle that setting.
Also, see the wood texture? How to improve the wood texture? i think it looks great, we just need to make the grain more subtle.

I've recently come up againast a wall in Illustrator. I'm producing a large, detailed pie chart, and the fine slices aren't being shown accurately.
For example, if you prodoce a simple 3-slice pie chart using: 99.5, 0.1, 0.4 .... the smallest slice will be lost. It looks as though Illustrator will not show anything under a quarter of a per cent.
How can I improve the resolution of files? When clients upload files, they get a resolution warning for prints larger than 5x7. Never had this problem with Photoshop Elements. I have increased the file size to largest/100 on export.
I have a blog on which I need to add type to each and every photos for copyright purposes. trouble is that the post photos are maxed out @ 144 dpi, and thus I use only sizes 6-8 for my fonts.
The reason for the small font size is proportion. I don't want to have giant fonts for small-sized photos. I've attached a sample before rasterization and after illustraintg the use of this fiunction is next-to-useless. I've tried different permutations and combinations font, font style, crisp, smooth, shar, etc, and the results are always the same - bad.
Are any efforts being made to improve the dithering of animated GIFs in GIMP? The dithering seems subpar compared to a program like Jasc Animation Shop. Why is that?
I am recently having a lot of fun after I discovered the power of blending. So here is my "protocol": I create two similar shapes, I make sure that they have a colored stroke, I use the blender, then I modify the path with the pencil, and I get this kind of results
I am quite happy with this, because of the fake 3D effect that it generates. I kind of understand that the "3D- shading" effect comes from the stroke color. However, this method has its limitations because:
- it only works with a stroke
- it gives different aspects depending of the number of steps.
Is there any way to smooth the effect created by the strokes to avoid the segmentation seen of the picture above?
Ideally, the best tool would be some kind of "extrude+blend on free path" tool, but it doesn't seem to exist in Illustrator yet...
I've just started using Lightroom 5, and right after importing them I noticed the images are of very poor quality. If I try and blow them up bigger using the slider they get even worse.I've used Bridge in Photoshop to do this before and the images look great, so I can quickly look at them and sort the good from the bad.I can't do this in Lightroom with the quality of the image thumbnails. So how do you make the thumbnails better? Also does the camera MP size determine what the thumbnails look like? In other words If I used an 8MP camera, would the thumbnails look as good as they would coming from a 20MP camera?
Our customers have given us some black and white Monochrome Bitmap images at 400 ppi (see attached sample) and 600 ppi of some scanned black and white engineering drawings. Some of the small text on the drawings is not very legible because open areas are filled in with black. Some of the vertical and horizontal lines are ragged (digitized) on the edges. Is there any way that I can improve the visual quality of these Monochrome Bitmap images in Corel Draw (which I use) or Corel Paint (of which I'm not very knowledgeable, or adept)?
I find myself at odds with the lack of quality in the Softimage viewport when viewing a scene that has objects placed out in the 11,000 unit range. I am building a large city for a game and it must be to scale, but working from a distance is hard because of the constant flickering and depth issues. Select triangles from objects hundreds of units behind another start appearing in front. This creates a garbled mess of triangles and black backfaces. Judging the overall shape and composition from a distance is critical for a game city, but this cannot be done. I have tried different modes, but there is no real difference aside from a huge FPS drop. After using 3DS Max and Maya, I greatly admire Softimage, and this is the first real issue I have with it.
How to improve the viewport quality at huge scales?
Is there a way to improve the error of closure of a Parcel. I have one Parcel that has an EOC of 0.0161'. That's a little higher than I like to see. I understand that some of this has to do with the precision of the analysis. But with bearings to the second and distances to the hundredth, I'd like to think we could do better than that.
I suppose that if I changed the POB the closure might improve. But I want the POB to be the closest corner to an existing monument.
I would like to know which tools to improve the border of a small image after rotation. Something like sharpening.
The picture is around 25px wide. When magnified, it shows like this :
The original image pure red and pure white.
The white line, that is a ~1 px from the border is at some points too much polluted by the red color. And the red color is locally too much polluted by the white color.
There is also some aliasing that I want to remove.
