View 7 Repliesi got Inventor recently, and i've been working on a model of a longboard just to teach myself how to use the tools in Inventor. right now i'm trying to color areas for the griptape pattern so i drew the 2D pattern and projected it onto the 3D model of the longboard. but when i tried to split the faces of the model along the projected pattern only a few of the projected lines split the faces. for other faces i kept getting these errors:
Create parting line failed Crane.ipt: Errors occurred during update Split11: Could not build this Split The attempted operation did not produce a meaningful result. Try with different inputs.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a blog on which I need to add type to each and every photos for copyright purposes. trouble is that the post photos are maxed out @ 144 dpi, and thus I use only sizes 6-8 for my fonts.
The reason for the small font size is proportion. I don't want to have giant fonts for small-sized photos. I've attached a sample before rasterization and after illustraintg the use of this fiunction is next-to-useless. I've tried different permutations and combinations font, font style, crisp, smooth, shar, etc, and the results are always the same - bad.

I upgraded to Maverick last fall which caused my PSE11 to slow way down so I recently purchased PSE 12 thinking it would be compatible to Maverick. At this point it is not. Everything works even slower than it did with PSE 11. Is there a patch or an upgrade or a procedure that will improve the work flow speed?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a few images that are essentially line drawings (B&W) that I want to make larger for presentation (i.e., click for larger size) on our new Website. The current size is not large enough.
If I increase pixel sizes, the quality is terrible. For example, see:
[URL]....on our 'test Website'. [Please note Website is work-in-progress.]
Settings *jpg: Width - 270; Height - 138; Scale styles - Y; Constrain proportions - Y; Resample image - Bicubic
If I increase *jpg to Width - 450; Height - 230, I get UGLY.
When I Save for Web as *gif, I change Width - 450; Height - 230, it still appears fuzzy, although not as much.

I have 2 problems that I'm trying to solve.
1) on the attached, how do I produce the effect of the shaky light on the brick floor that can be seen on the 2 lights in background behind the swimming pool (tried shadow effects option)
2) the fire on the left hand side (in front) still looks too superimposed, even though I've tried some of the things I was advised to do on a similar post (adjust vibrant mid tones, use burn tool etc).
I have a scan of a couple-hundred year old document. The background is light brown due to age. How can I best make the browned areas white and preserve/improve the black type? Getting a white background by playing with levels, brightness / contrast seems to result in worse black type.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have tried this feature with mixed results. Scaning 2,3 or 4 pictures of different sizes, changing angles using an HP8600 Multifunction device. I have tried both scannig using HP software and directly with Elements at 200, 300 and 600 dpi. Elemets will sometime split off one of the pics but is not reliably sepatating them all. What ca I do to improve my results? I have a lot of pics to scan and really don't want to do them one at a time.

View 6 Replies View Relatedhow to improve the box resizing tools ('S' & 'M'):
1) the shift key currently only constrains proportions when dragging the corners. make it also constrain proportions when dragging edges (keep the opposite edge-center box in place).
2) can you add an 'Alt'-key modifier that fixes the center of the selection, instead of the opposite corner/edge?
Here are some of our samples. We are just starting out. We would like to know if these would be considered professional enough? we aren't using global illumination because our computer can't handle that setting.
Also, see the wood texture? How to improve the wood texture? i think it looks great, we just need to make the grain more subtle.

I've recently come up againast a wall in Illustrator. I'm producing a large, detailed pie chart, and the fine slices aren't being shown accurately.
For example, if you prodoce a simple 3-slice pie chart using: 99.5, 0.1, 0.4 .... the smallest slice will be lost. It looks as though Illustrator will not show anything under a quarter of a per cent.
How can I improve the resolution of files? When clients upload files, they get a resolution warning for prints larger than 5x7. Never had this problem with Photoshop Elements. I have increased the file size to largest/100 on export.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am recently having a lot of fun after I discovered the power of blending. So here is my "protocol": I create two similar shapes, I make sure that they have a colored stroke, I use the blender, then I modify the path with the pencil, and I get this kind of results
I am quite happy with this, because of the fake 3D effect that it generates. I kind of understand that the "3D- shading" effect comes from the stroke color. However, this method has its limitations because:
- it only works with a stroke
- it gives different aspects depending of the number of steps.
Is there any way to smooth the effect created by the strokes to avoid the segmentation seen of the picture above?
Ideally, the best tool would be some kind of "extrude+blend on free path" tool, but it doesn't seem to exist in Illustrator yet...
Is there a blending technique I can employ to smooth the transisitions between the bands in this image?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've just started using Lightroom 5, and right after importing them I noticed the images are of very poor quality. If I try and blow them up bigger using the slider they get even worse.I've used Bridge in Photoshop to do this before and the images look great, so I can quickly look at them and sort the good from the bad.I can't do this in Lightroom with the quality of the image thumbnails. So how do you make the thumbnails better? Also does the camera MP size determine what the thumbnails look like? In other words If I used an 8MP camera, would the thumbnails look as good as they would coming from a 20MP camera?
