When I upgraded to Max 2013, the installer created a completely separate 2013 instance, and did not upgrade or replace my existing Max 2012.
So now that I have 2013, how do I migrate my GUI settings from 2012 without having to go through all of the screens and tool bars from scratch?
I'm finally getting around to using 2012 and would like to know the correct way to migrate my 2011 custom settings. I seem to recall some one here saying that you can't just copy them over or you risk messing up Max. I have heavily customized 2011 and wouldn't want to have to start from scratch.
View 9 Replies View RelatedOne of our drafters recently got a new computer. We installed AutoCAD 2013 on the new machine. He was using AutoCAD 2012 on the old machine.
After exporting the settings from 2012, I attempted to import them into 2013. The migrate tool throws an error that insinuates you must have the old version installed on the same computer in order to migrate the settings. The import tool states that it can only import settings from the same version of AutoCAD.
How does one go about importing settings from one computer running AutoCAD 2012 onto another computer running AutoCAD 2013?
(In particular, the user is looking to migrate over his custom tool palette.)
I finally upgraded my 2002 version to ACAD LT 2013; possible to migrate my setting, templates, plot files and preferences from 2002 to 2013 (I have to admit I haven't tried yet)?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to migrate our styles library from Inventor 2011 to 2013 using the style library manager. I have the current (2013) library loaded in the first slot, and my old 2011 library loaded in the second slot. Under the 2011 library, the Migrate button is active.
I click Migrate, and after telling me it can take up to 2 minutes to migrate the library, it proceeds. After about two minutes, I get a progress box generated by Inventor (not the style library manager) that indicates it is copying some 1300 files from one location, to another. I can't tell if it is the same location or not, as the filepaths are truncated in the progress box.
As it finishes, usually with one file remaining, I get the "Autodesk Inventor 2013 Has stopped working" error. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly etc. etc.
I do not relish having to go back and manually define all my styles.
Context: Product Design Suite Ultimate 2013, Win 7 Pro, 12 GB ram. I've tried both with and without my antivirus realtime scan on.
I have upgraded to Inventor 2014 and I'm having trouble transferring my custom content center library (local machine, no server). My understanding was that I copy the .idcl and .idz files from the old folder to the 2014 folder, open the projects dialog box, configure content center libraries button, and use the update tool button.
However, in the configure libraries dialog box my custom library doesn't even show up in the list along with my ANSI, ISO, "My Library", etc. Restarting Inventor didn't work.
I am having trouble with mass prop exporting to sheemetal parts. It did work for 2012 now its not happening iv2013. service pak 1.1

I have set layer settings to a PLINE in model space. The layer is unfrozen and turned on but i cannot see the properties associated with the line, it juist remains white. for example i want the pline to be magenta and global width to = 2. After i set those properties the line will show thickness of 2 but not magenta unless i move the line a little from its position then it turns magenta. However if i do anything else to the line then it turns back to white.

I have a P-drain Parcel setting for major drainage areas - I set the display to the C-PROP-BNDY layer which seems to be OOB for the entire 'property'. I create the parcels from poly lines on the P-DRAIN-AREA layer.
The parcels go to the C-PROP layer. My problem is that I can't seem to get the property lines to plot. I try to set C-PROP-BNDY to the correct color, yet when I plot, the lines don't show.
Just noticed 'use style library = No?' no longer exists in 2012 only 'read only' and 'read-write' are come uo when you RMB 'use style library' in the Projects dialog, is this correct or have I made an error during installation?

Just upgraded a user to Autodesk Building Design Suite Premium 2013 but AutoCad 2013 and AutoCad MEP 2013 are not saving settings.
On first use the crosshair is large and angled, not standard. If I run "Rest values to default" then the settings are standard until I either restart AutoCAD or open a drawing then have the same strange cross hair.
Have tried creating a new profile, setting it as default startup profile by altering the shortcut but no matter what settings are not saved and revert to strange cross hair once AutoCAD is re-opened or a drawing is opening.If logon to computer as a user without a roaming profile all works fine.
Happens every year. Upgrade and spend half a day or more trying to get everything back to the way I had it. All I have is a couple small toolbars for commands that are several clicks deep in the ribbons and I want them "right there" all the time.
I thought Autodesk 360 might be a good tool for this. All it did was DOWNLOAD some old settings and destroy one of the toolbars I'd created. They really need an override in there to specify upload, download, overwrite or don't.
I'm trying to migrate (I guess that's the technical term) my settings from 2013 Mechanical to 2014 Mechanical. It's probably too late already, after 360 did its deal, but I really want to get this down so we don't go through it every year anymore.
I maintain that PTC had this part of it down Pro/ENGINEER. You had a config file that was editable plain text.

A line is drawn parellel to the X-axis. What I have been doing all of my career to lengthen this line, by say 3 inches, is select the line, pick the grip I want to lengthen, drag that grip in the general X direction, type the value 3 at the command promt, and hit enter. Voila, done.
Now what AutoCAD is doing, is bringing the grip (yup, ortho is stll on) to exactly where my curser is, totally disregarding the ortho setting AND the value in typing at the comand prompt.
I want to print out several layouts as a batch. when i do this to a printer to obtain paper copies it works out ok, however when i do it to a PDF format it chops the top of the drawing off which is most annoying as i often end up having to do each drawing individually to a pdf.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAt home I have 3ds Max 2013 and at my class I am currently taking, they have 3ds Max 2012. When I tried to upload my 3ds Max 2013 file using 2012 I got; "File Load Failure (*file path*).
I now understand that I can save the file as a 2012 (from the 2013 version) but is there anyway to convert the file while at the class? I will not have access to my 2013 file for a while, and this file is homework..
Is there anyway to go back to 2012 once you've opened a file in 2013?
I would like to recover work done in 2013, at least the styles...
I've found out that I can export pipe networks to landxml and then import the file in 2012, but I have no styles if I do that...

I have recently been informed that my Revit 2013 is not compatible with the classes that I am taking. I have installed Revit 2012, but my projects cannot be opened in 2012. Is there a better or a way at all to transfer these projects?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using 2014 with 360 syncing on.Several times now, I've setup all my toolbars, snaps, etc the way I want them. I then save out an .arg and they also supposodly sync with 360. Then everything works fine for awhile and then in seemingly random change, they all go hinky, like they've been reset.
Also, my delete key has stopped working, and I can't redefine it in the CUI, and reloading my saved arg doesn't restore it.Also, I can't initiat a command of any kind with items selected. ie. select line then offset command. Reloading arg doesn't fix it.
If you can reset the default No of Rows and Columns that are generated.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI jumped from 2010 to 2013 when switching jobs.I have to load my profile every time I start AutoCAD, it will not save as default. Also within my profile I created, some setting I have to reclick as they are not saving within the profile. I change the setting, hit apply, the save profile as currrent.I do also have an issure with the settings changing within different drawings. I will go to options and have to re check some boxes, and I havent closed AutoCAD yet.
