Mar 12, 2013When I click Application Options it opens up, but the window doesn't show up, eveything else in the program gets disabled and I am able to hit Esc to get out of it.

Sep 27, 2013I'm looking at a way to edit the Application Options tab when a particular file is opened. For example, by loading file "template" it would set constraint options to a standard, set the background color of the application, etc. giving me a songle file to load my preferred settings.
For a first run example, need code such that when I open the file and run the rule, it would change the username from User to NWilson?
I'm very weak with the API code tools and structure, and I have zero VB experience. My train of thought is as follows:
Dim x = ThisApplication.GeneralOptions.UserName
If x = User
Then ThisApplication.GeneralOptions.UserName=NWilson

AutoCAD Inventor :: Application Options - File Path Reversion
Jan 30, 2012After setting the Application Options-File tab paths to our company standard and manually restarting IV the paths all revert to "%PUBLIC DOCUMENTS % default paths. Our IT guy is having the hardest time tracking down the root cause, Both users are on stand alone licenses.
1. Where does IV pick up these default file paths? Can I modify that .xml manually as a workaround?
2. How to identify the folders to look for that don't have adequate red-write permissions?

AutoCAD Inventor :: 2013 Crashing When Migrating Styles From 2011?
May 27, 2013I'm trying to migrate our styles library from Inventor 2011 to 2013 using the style library manager. I have the current (2013) library loaded in the first slot, and my old 2011 library loaded in the second slot. Under the 2011 library, the Migrate button is active.
I click Migrate, and after telling me it can take up to 2 minutes to migrate the library, it proceeds. After about two minutes, I get a progress box generated by Inventor (not the style library manager) that indicates it is copying some 1300 files from one location, to another. I can't tell if it is the same location or not, as the filepaths are truncated in the progress box.
As it finishes, usually with one file remaining, I get the "Autodesk Inventor 2013 Has stopped working" error. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly etc. etc.
I do not relish having to go back and manually define all my styles.
Context: Product Design Suite Ultimate 2013, Win 7 Pro, 12 GB ram. I've tried both with and without my antivirus realtime scan on.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Migrating Custom CC Library From 2013 To 2014
May 28, 2013I have upgraded to Inventor 2014 and I'm having trouble transferring my custom content center library (local machine, no server). My understanding was that I copy the .idcl and .idz files from the old folder to the 2014 folder, open the projects dialog box, configure content center libraries button, and use the update tool button.
However, in the configure libraries dialog box my custom library doesn't even show up in the list along with my ANSI, ISO, "My Library", etc. Restarting Inventor didn't work.

Feb 23, 2012These Application Options settings change not infrequently and for reasons that I cannot be certain of:
Sketch:
Enable Heads-up Display
Edit Dimension when created
Look at sketch...on...creation
Part:
No new sketch goes to x-y plane
This may happen after when I open parts from Inventor 2011 (maybe 2010) into 2012, then create a new part. I would expect the 2012 App Options to be the master, so I don't know why a legacy part would be allowed to change those settings.

Sep 6, 2012I'm trying to install the latest Inventor View on all of the computers at work and keep getting this error. The program installs fine, opens fine, but I can't set it as a default program to open .IDW, .IPT, and .IAM files. When I do I end up with the error "not a valid win32 application".
The computers are running the 32-bit version of XP, and Inventor View 2012 works fine on all of them (after doing the DtDv install trick).
Also, while we are talking about Inventor View, is there ANY reason at all why it isn't combined with TrueView??? Seems like such a hassle to have two programs doing basically the same thing, with TrueView being MUCH more functional.
AutoCAD 2013 :: Migrating Settings From One Computer To Another With Differing Versions?
May 8, 2012One of our drafters recently got a new computer. We installed AutoCAD 2013 on the new machine. He was using AutoCAD 2012 on the old machine.
After exporting the settings from 2012, I attempted to import them into 2013. The migrate tool throws an error that insinuates you must have the old version installed on the same computer in order to migrate the settings. The import tool states that it can only import settings from the same version of AutoCAD.
How does one go about importing settings from one computer running AutoCAD 2012 onto another computer running AutoCAD 2013?
(In particular, the user is looking to migrate over his custom tool palette.)

We have just installed 2014 software on our machines and I'm told that I need to migrate the styles library from 2013 to 2014. Here's the thing though, we have our Inventor templates and design data on a network drive for all to access.
I see where there is a style manager included in the Tools of Inventor but I open it up and I can't make heads or tails of it.

Residing in this library are iparts and iassemblies. Both the factory and the members.
Question is how to migrate these iparts and iassemblies,.
option 1 migrate the factory first THEN the members
option 2 migrate the members then the factory (pretty sure this will not work)
option 3 migrate both factory and members at the same time
option 4 migrate the factory and generate new members (not my favorite option)
option 5 ?????
I should add that I intend to use task scheduler to migrate the files

AutoCAD Inventor :: Migrating Will Not Recognize XML Files
Aug 16, 2012I have XML files for Materials that I have used for several years. BUT they are just that - XML files & supporting PNG images of textures.
I guess I got these back when I installed Inventor Publisher in 2008 or 2009. And I have changed computers 3 or 4 times - up to Inventor 2011, they worked everytime.
Now with Inventor 2013, they don't work. How do I get the .XML files and/or info into a custom Inventor library so they work properly? and no - there is not an .adsklib files available in that folder to migrate. That would be tooooo easy.
Migrating will not recognize just .XML files. Not to my knowledge anyway.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Styles Migrating Or File Compare
Oct 3, 2013We had customized styles in Inventor 12 Then installed 13 and had some conflicts using the 12 styles. The person who customized the styles is no longer with us so I dont know what all was changed. Our work stations point to a styles network location so we are all on the same page. I would like to know if there is a way to compare the default styles to the custom files so I know what was changed. Then I would keep a log book of style changes as they occur and update the style of the next release b4 company wide installation. Or perhaps there is a better way??

Tried:
Repair Application - same problem
Uninstall AutoCAD and delete registry and reinstall - same problem
Log in using other ID and repeat above still same problem
Uninstall, delete all AutoDesk folder in Program file and ProgramData and reinstall all AutoDesk product (AutoCAD and NavisWork)
Problem still same.,
No problem with NavisWork only AutoCAD

With AutoCAD 2012 I could dump my LISP routines that I use a lot and they would be auto-loaded in any drawing that I opened. I loved it....
With 2013, I try the same thing and it doesn't work. And from what I have been reading, I have to make a folder sturcture with the suffix ".bundle" and create an .xml file in order for these to run....
The ability of the ApplicationPlugins folder from 2012 was awesome.Is there a way to make 2013 act like 2012 for this folder?I have checked my variables and they are set the same as 2012:

Feb 20, 2013In the process of cretaing an installer for a RealDWG based web application(VS2010 web setup project). The intended target environments for now will be win server 2003 and win 7. They will be fairly clean in the sense that no other autodesk or realdwg based products are installed or is planned to be installed.
The tips and techniques chapter of the RealDWG documentation have a section of how to create an installer and it says that all merge modules from the Redistrib folder should be added to the installer.
However the Redistribution requirements chapter mentions that for Shapemager functionality either a couple of merge modules should be included (for read/write support) or a couple of other merge modules should be included(read only support).
I've tried to only include the mergemodules that are listed as required but that did not work when I tried to run the deplyed app. (acdbmgd.dll missed several dependencies to other dll's that were not listed as required). When trying to include everything I get errors when doing a validation of the msi in Orca(probably originating from the shapemanager mergemodules).

1) When I make a line-I used to be able to type in the start point, angle, length, and end point. Now I make a line I don’t have that option. Furthermore I hover the muse over line and try to make an extension of for example 3.5" from the start point after I hit enter it will put the start point at what i think is a random point of the screen. How can get the options back.
2) When i press-pull an object-When i would press-pull an object i would (with my mouse) drag it in the direction that wanted it to go hen type in the length. So if i were to pull it to the right then type in the number it would go to the right.How can change that

AutoCAD LT :: 2013 - Set DefaultFormatForSave For ALL Users Options
May 16, 2012I recently upgraded AutoCAD LT to 2013. It now appears that we need to drop the save as format back down to 2010 format.
I realise that there is a reg edit for "defaultFormatForSave" which can be changed to "48" but when a user first runs AutoCAD LT the setting is overwritten.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Block Properties Combining Options?
Sep 12, 2012I had made a block for a series of unit heaters in 2011 and everything worked great. It had a block properties table that allowed a selection like this:
Input (Electric, Hydronic, Gas) --> Make (Ouellet, Reznor, etc) --> Size (150MBH, 250MBH, etc) --> Flue (UTR, Straight through wall)
In 2013 however, it combines the the flue options so it now if I select Gas, I get:
Reznor
Lennox
Reznor
Lennox
The first two being flue up and the second two being flue straight. The other options work fine because they don't have the flue option.
Why is this happening in 2013? I even made a test block in 2013 that follows the same format and it did the same. Is there a limitation to the number of flyouts in 2013?
