3ds Max :: Daylight System And A Spherical Environment Map?

Jul 15, 2011

I've currently got a daylight system in place with an "mr physical sky" shader, but I've also got a 360° sky panorama with clouds.

Is there anyway of getting them both working together? I've set the sun so it appears in the right place in my scene, but the sky is too empty. Putting the Sky panorama blocks the sun. I've tried putting the map on a Geosphere with a circular UVW map modifier and have tried adjusting the opacity but I can't work it out.

3ds Max :: Custom Map In Daylight System

Oct 25, 2011

When I try and add a custom background map to the MR Physical Sky, the map takes up the whole environment removing the ground and horizon making my model look like is floating in the sky. Before I used to do this and the custom map would just replace the sky texture with my own cloud image. I've attached an image of what I'm trying to get which is basically my own clouds image as the sky but still retain the ground plain the MR Daylight System gives you.

3ds Max :: Daylight System - Artifacts In Render

3ds Max :: Washed Out Images With Daylight System?

Nov 9, 2011

Gamma 2.2, Gamma 1.8. Linear workflow, exposure, input - output etc. how NOT to get washed out images using sun&sky. For example, you use daylight system to render a car with carpaint, the carpaint mat is washed out. No matter what settings are used. Some renders look as if each A&D material stayed nicely saturated and crisp while most don't. I know that the daylight system is supposed to mimic real lighting conditions, but there has to be a way to preserve a nice rich crisp A&D color on renders.

3ds Max :: Cameras And Daylight System Grayed Out?

Sep 7, 2011

I am not an expert user of this program and just jumped from 2008 to 2012. I model in Autocad Architecure and link my file, and apply textures in Max, where I create my renderings. I was plugging along today, and all of the sudden noticed that I cannot select my cameras, or daylight system- they are grayed out in the top view, and cannot be selected any other view. I can insert a new camera, but it is immediately grayed out and not selectable. I can however use the select camera through viewport, and can change parameters in the modify window, but cannot select them to move. My select filter is set to "all"...

3ds Max :: Black Horizon With Daylight System?

Aug 31, 2011

I am using a daylight system in 3ds max, but unfortunately there is a black horizon line that I can't get to go away. I tried taking the physical scale in the Environment tab up to 100,000 but that just made the black horizon white. It blended a little better but it still obvious. Is there a way to make that go away or disappear?

Photoshop :: Using Spherize Tool On Non Spherical Selections

May 27, 2006

Is there a way to use the spherize tool for non-spherical selections? For example, I have an outline of a human body and I want to give it some depth - make it bulge out so to speak. I tried to make a selection around it (made it tight around the edges so that the selection outline is exactly like the outline of the body) and then spherized it. But it seems like the effect comformed only to a regular sphere shape, but only on the selected region. It doesn't look good. I'm looking for a way to get the things inside the selection to "bulge out". Is there a way? Am I being unclear?

AutoCad 3D :: How To Build Spherical Solid And Earth Map

Jul 21, 2013

I am trying to build a spherical, solid, earth map.

I have built one before by extruding a flat projection of the earth map through a hollow solid sphere shell, and using subtract. (I had to do it in sections, and projecting in different angles until I completed the world map). There was an intermediate step of subtracting the extruded map from a solid block and creating a void shape of the map within the block, then subtracting the block from the hollow sphere).

The problem I had is that the edges of the map where not cut off in an angle towards the center of the globe, and I need all the edges be sliced towards the center of the globe.

I am trying now to use the LOFT command and create a solid map that tapers down towards the center of the globe. I have bought these special map projections (2D) called "gnomonic projections". They were originated by projecting from the center of an earth globe the contour of the continents over projeccion plains outside the globe. (this was done using a map cartography software and converted to .dwgs).

These projections are made of thousands (or millions) of polylines joined together, and the probelm is that AutoCAD gets stuck when trying to use LOFT. I was able to LOFT just a little island, but it gave me surfaces instead of a solid. If I use this method I will have to do hundreds (or thousands) of little sections with LOFT to achieve the entire map.

Any better way to build this solid spherical map?. Or where I can buy this spherical solid of the world continents from? I have seen these solids sometimes in the background of television news programs, I just need a little better contour definition than what the show.

Photoshop Elements :: Photomerge Failing In Automatic And Spherical Mode

Dec 18, 2012

I have A windows 64 Ultimate system, PSE 10, with the latest updates. I have a core I7 procesor and 12GB of ram.  I'm using a Nikon D800 with a 24-70 lens and a full spherical pannoramic setup, to eliminate paralax.  Prior to this setup, I was using a D7000 with a 17-55 2.8 and a standard panning tripod and dropping it into the notch for vertical pannoramic stitching.

Prior to the gear upgrades, I was not having problems stitching pannoramas together.  I just exported them through lightroom (as an 8bit PSD file) or from a folder and used auto mode.  I exported the end result as a high rest TIFF.  Now I'm getting an error message that says, could not merge images/some images.  I even reduced the number of photographs, to three, and I still couldn't get it to work.  I generally take photos 20-40% overlapped (as recommended) to assist the software in stitching.  I've had partial success with the interactive mode, but I've still have some ghosting present.  I don't understand how my success rate has gone from 100% to only partial, yet my gear and technique has improved.  I'm wondering if PSE has problems with the large file sizes of the D800.  That's the only thing I can think of that's changed in my workflow.  Am I hitting some inherent software limiations that a full vesion of photoshop does not have?  A friend of mine has a copy of the raw files and has successfully stitched them together with a full version of photoshop cs5 (all done with a less capable system).

After Effects :: How To Perform Cylindrical / Spherical Orbits For  Texts

Oct 18, 2013

effect 1. I want to make an intro for my logo and I was thinking for an effect like this one we see in harry potter (boggart). I don't want something so advanced like this in the image nor 3d. I just want to use this effect to switch from one text to a second text before ending showing my logo.

so the  it's something like this: text1 --> effect --->  text 2 (text1 disappears) --> effect ---> my logo appears  (text2 disappears)

effect 2: this is something more easy. Instead of using the first effect for my intro I want to use elliptical orbits for my texts. So the text1 will look like they start from the center of the screen coming closer and closer to the viewer (user) and then they will go back and dissapear so the next text2 will start.

general question: how do I perform cylindrical/ spherical orbits for  texts?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Cannot Mirror Daylight Subassembly

Apr 26, 2012

Why I can't mirror the Daylight Inside ROW Subassembly? For some reason I can only place it on the right side of my assembly and in the subassembly properties there is no option to flip it to the left. In the Modify Subassembly section when it's selected the mirror option is greyed out.

What I am trying to accomplish seems simple enough:

I have a utility easement in a drainage ditch that is 30' wide with a sewer line designed down the center, we need a very simple 10' access road on the uphill side of sewer line with 4:1 Cut/Fill slopes on either side when possible, however when the 4:1 won't catch within the easement I need it to daylight within.

At first glance the Daylight Inside ROW seems to be the appropriate subassembly for this instance but I can't get it on the left side of my road.Is there a way to set up this parameter with a different subassembly because I can get other subassemblies on the either side just fine, for example, the Cut Slope Layout Mode subaasembly works but when I build my corridor with it the slopes tie outside of the easement in several locations.

What I understood was that my assemblies should not have any daylight sub-assembly and that i should grade the corridor and than add a transition zone between the different gradings. Did I understand correctly?
