I've occasionally created some tone-mapped pictures from multiple exposure brackets using the Luminance HDR program. But when I import the jpegs exported from Luminance to Xara, their Red and Blue channels appear to get swapped.
I can fix it by using a Live Effect. But why does this happen? Is there a way to losslessly avoid this before importing to Xara? Because Live Effects impose their own resolution limitations on the image.
One of my wedding clients has just told me that *some* (about 1-2%) of the small JPEGs from her wedding don't contain any photo - they're just white - although the thumbnail displayed in exporer is fine.
To produce the small jpegs, I import the large JPEGs into a LR catalog and export them at a different size. (don't ask why - I have a good reason for doing this).

I'm working on CS6, OSX, I exported a logo to jpeg form Illustrator, when I open it on the default image preview app and try to copy (cmd+V) it won't let me, the copy option under edit isn't gereyed out but when I use it or press cmd+v a sound tells me the action can't be completed and it obviously doesn't copy to th clipboard, When saving it from the "save for web" option it works properly and I can copy and paste without problems, all of this also happens if I do it in Photoshop, this has never happened to me until now.

Further suppose that I have found that I want to increase the luminance level of pixels in the range of 60 - 65 by 10 luminance levels each:
i.e. all pixels with luminance values of 60,61,62,63,64,65 would, after the operation have luminance values of 70,71,72,73,74,75. Is such a thing possible with Photoshop?
I have to get to my printer ASAP with these images and i am having issues with a memory exception error, i have tried different computers to no avail, i have attached the .xar file and i need both images exporting as 300dpi jpegs. the images in the file are at 100% size but i can also live with 50% 300dpi jpeg exports.
the black background is C35 M35 Y35 K100 (rich black) and i have converted all fonts to shapes won't need the fonts. Both images use the 'speedometer' graphic as a clip view
I use XPE regularly to edit photos and save them in JPEG format to My Picture folders. However, since yesterday the files that get saved after editing, are no longer JPEGs but some unsupported file which cannot be opened. (See screen shot of properties.) I have tried everything I can think of to fix this, but the results are always the same.
If I edit the photographs with Picasa, there is no problem with the edited output to a folder.
If I save the XPE edited files to the Desktop instead of a folder, they are also alright. I am using Windows 7 Home.
I am working on a project that requires the images I create must be at least 250 DPI, preferably 300 DPI.
When I export, I am specifying 300 DPI, but the resulting image is only 96.
Is there a setting somewhere that is causing them to revert back?
Open Xara Designer 7 for Windows - demo version.
1) Create a solid block of colour at an integer coordinate (say 0,0).
2) Make it an integer width and height (say 128 x 128)
3) Export
4) Choose '.png' (or '.jpg' - the same effect will manifest)
5) Zoom into the preview and see the weird discoloured edges produced
Alternatively, do the same thing with 'Create Bitmap Copy' and observe the same results.
I'm aware that if you have non-integer sizes/positions it anti-aliases, but this isn't supposed to happen if you rectify these.
[Edit: I think I found out what it was: on my Pro version, I have the option to minimise anti-aliasing, which might well be the issue. Oddly, I can't reproduce the problem at all on my Pro version, but only on my brother's demo version!]
This is probably a ridiculously simple thing. I have just started with Xara Photo and Graphic designer 7, and gone through the vids. I am finally acknowledging that Adobe Image Styler (my sweet baby!) is going to have to be given up. Coming from that, I am finding Xara more challenging to use.
When I save an image (jpeg), it exports with a tiny white line around it. I am trying to make a gradient image for a website, and need the edges to blend when I have it repeated (background image).
Cant find a way to import about 400 jpeg images on a DVD(not protected) into the library of VSX5.I have tried various options from the DVD or a folder on the hard drive that also contains the images. I hope to get them showing on the project as a slideshow at the end. If and when I do import them into the project they will need to be resized in the overlay track by dragging to keep the aspect ratio. There are landscape and portrait pics.Can I group them together in ie landscape order and then apply attributes to all to avoid having to do this individually, if so how
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'd like to import just the RAW-files from my sd-card (no jpegs). Unfortunately there is no simple way to exclude the jpegs from importing. I'm talking about importing some hundreds of photos so it's not possible to uncheck them manually. I think there has to be a way to filter the import by certain file extensions or at least sort by file extensions. Sorting by media type does not fix my problem.
View 3 Replies View Related I am trying to make a simple wallpaper. I check everything carefully. Make the page 1280 x 800. Make sure the alignment is ok by inserting measurements in the boxes - ie not dragging. Make sure no object is secretly sticking out a bit. I have deleted the page's shadow. But no matter what I do I find there is a white box around the wallpaper I export. Can't figure out why, and can't get rid of it. I have also noticed that sometimes, even though I have set all objects to have a 0 point - ie be butted up against the page - their measurement suddenly will show 7px or such like and it will spring back into misalignment.
I just want to make a simple 1280 x 800 wallpaper for a client, something very easy.

I'm probably bumbling around and buggering up the export of png formatted images, but it appears something besides transparency is getting exported as backbround.
I do `Select all' then export to png.The poorly drawn green arrows were added in photoshop to show the area I'm talking about. The xara document which is apparently also getting exported in some way.At least certain other tools see a black background in that area. Not all tools have that problem with the image. For example; photoshop sees only transparency there.
But when I browse the exported *.png files with `Epson print CD', it sees black in that area as illustrated by the screen grab below.The first two images look clean as expected (I'll explain in a moment) but the third (the one that hasn't been cleaned in Photoshop) shows the black background in that area.
The first two were cleaned up in photoshop and now appear clean as expected.So to get a usable image for import into Epson's tool I must:
1) Export as PNG from Xara
2) Open with Photoshop and run thru a procedure where anything outside the outer blue ring in the image is deleted.(Even though PS only sees transparency, if I select everything from the blue ring outward and delete it, saving back to png, then Epson's tool sees transparency there)
3) Import into `Epson Print CD' and print the graphic to a printable DVD.
How can I skip the second step? That is, how can I get a clean export in step one? What is it that some tools are seeing as black background?
I am using Xara Photo & Graphic Designer (non Pro) version 6. I have a custom page size of 10"x7.5". I have turned off the page shadow in File>Page Options>Tab[Page Size]:Section[Spread]:Checkbox[Show page shadow]. The shadow is gone from the view of the document, but when exporting to PDFs, it's back!

They can be read by Picasa and Windows Explorer. They can print to my printer. Tried to import two of the missing 731 but got same message. Should I just stay with Picasa as my Organizer?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI took many jpeg's & a few video's on my camera the other day. All jpeg's all imported OK but the video didn't. It's the same format as I have imported many times before .MTS (light) 1280 x 720). I can play the video in the camera OK. I can play the video in Windows 7 OK. When I select the clips that I want to import from PSE 10 I see the thumbnails, select those I want press the button & a few minutes it just says import failed with no explication given. I have even selected the pictures from the cards video file & tries cut & paste but nothing happens.I'm running windows 7 pro 64 bit.

I have a folder of all my photo's with my Sony NEX camera - which I have set to capture RAW+JPEG, so the folder contains a RAW and JPEG copy of each photo.
I've just started using Lightroom and run an import on that folder with 'Copy as DNG', discard duplicates, with the destination directory structure set to use photo dates. The source and destination folders are both on remote directories on my NAS.
After the import I expected to find lots of folders, ordered by date, containing just DNS files. However I find there are DNG and JPEG files for each photo.
My understanding is the standard previews and smart previews are stored locally with the LR catalog. So what are the JPEG files that have been created?

I have been working with Xara for two days now, and it's great! I am using the trial version of Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 9. I created a file with a couple of transparent shapes (love the transparency tool - so easy!), and it looked great. I exported to .pdf, and the transparent gradient was all gone. The shapes are there, but have no gradient whatsoever.
I also exported it as a .jpg and the gradients are present in the .jpg. In other words, the .xar file looks great and the .jpg looks great. Just the .pdf doesn't work.
I exported a building I drew in a program to a shape file. It produced 3 files, a .dbf, a AutoCAD Shape Source file, and a AutoCAD Compiled Shape. Can I import my exported shape file into AutoCAD 2010?

I have all of their color data in a table, and I want to arrange them by hue and lightness, so I applied the Rec.709 coefficients to my data. This arranges my colors into a natural gradient--except for the reds, which have some glaring misplacement. why .709 coefficients do this, or what coefficients I should use instead?

What I'd like to do: I'd like to use image stacking for exposure accumulation using "summation" but find that highlights blow out readily. Right now the workaround is to let the highlights go and bring them back with HDR from one (or more) of the original frames, but that's seriously clunky. I'd like a "scaled summation" where a luminance-dependent scaling factor is applied in the sum. I don't yet know how to get there from here in PS (there's a megaclunky way involving dcraw, Matlab, and a stacking program ...), but it seems to me that the first step is to get the luminance info.
We're trying to make some visual stimuli for an experiment, and we want to change the hues of the images while keeping the luminance value constant. However, changing the hue always changes the luminance as well. Is there a way to lock the luminance value?

1130.6x592.8
1132.6x445
535.6x317.4
536.2x317.4
When I try to import these graphics (created with XDP X and saved as PNGs), the dimensions of the imports shrink by a lot (example: the graphic with the dimensions of 1132.6x445 shrinks to 500x196). I also have Lock Aspect Ratio turned off. Why is this happening and is there any way to fix this? I'm trying to piece these graphics together and I don't want to mess with the dimensions, if possible.
