I have a set of 25 images that I need to equate on luminance. That is, I need them to have the same luminance mean and distribution. Is it possible to do this using Photoshop? If so, what are the steps?

Say I have an image where I'm attempting to extract a mask from and I've found that one of the channels will serve as a good starting point. Further suppose that I have found that I want to increase the luminance level of pixels in the range of 60 - 65 by 10 luminance levels each:
i.e. all pixels with luminance values of 60,61,62,63,64,65 would, after the operation have luminance values of 70,71,72,73,74,75. Is such a thing possible with Photoshop?
I am trying to equating images in the best way in a PSPIMAGE Project. My base image (background) has a dimension of 640 x 480.
I inserted two pictures. By original configuration, picture A (200 x 266) is bigger than picture B (145 x 189).
- If I increase size of picture B (to achieve same size of picture A), this picture will loss quality. Isn't it (I'm not completely sure)?
- So, maybe could be best decrease size of picture A (to achieve same size of picture B). But it will "harm" my main "composition" of dimension 640 x 480.
It seems to be simple but I don't know what to do or by where to begin...
What can be done to reduce or alter chromatic luminance qualities in photographic subjects of people (skin tones) and liquids (beverages, water, ice, etc.)?

I have all of their color data in a table, and I want to arrange them by hue and lightness, so I applied the Rec.709 coefficients to my data. This arranges my colors into a natural gradient--except for the reds, which have some glaring misplacement. why .709 coefficients do this, or what coefficients I should use instead?
View 13 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to extract raw luminance values from raw image files? Actually, a de-Bayerized flat matrix would be ideal but could (? maybe) deal with a 3 layer RGB matrix -- rather like the output from dcraw, only in PS. Preferably without gamma applied.
What I'd like to do: I'd like to use image stacking for exposure accumulation using "summation" but find that highlights blow out readily. Right now the workaround is to let the highlights go and bring them back with HDR from one (or more) of the original frames, but that's seriously clunky. I'd like a "scaled summation" where a luminance-dependent scaling factor is applied in the sum. I don't yet know how to get there from here in PS (there's a megaclunky way involving dcraw, Matlab, and a stacking program ...), but it seems to me that the first step is to get the luminance info.
We're trying to make some visual stimuli for an experiment, and we want to change the hues of the images while keeping the luminance value constant. However, changing the hue always changes the luminance as well. Is there a way to lock the luminance value?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get every pixel value in the black square to 000, and all the white pixels to 255,255,255. I've started out with an 800 pixel square solid 255RGB square and then applied a solid 0RGB black square over the top in a new layer, but as can be seen by the color pickers PSCC is doing an unwanted luminance blend around the edges.
Is there anything I can do to stop it and get a solid black square on a solid white one?
I have a series of grayscale images that I'm trying to adjust so that they all have the same--or at least very similar--contrast, luminance, and brightness. When I try to adjust these things, it's always measured relative to the images's starting state rather than to anything objective.

I am trying to set the monitor so that I have a luminance of between 100 and 120 cd/m2. I am using a Spyder 3 Pro display calibration device to set the luminance but the device does not measure luminance. Can anyone tell me what Brightness level my monitor should be set at to achieve a luminance of 100-120 cd/m2?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've occasionally created some tone-mapped pictures from multiple exposure brackets using the Luminance HDR program. But when I import the jpegs exported from Luminance to Xara, their Red and Blue channels appear to get swapped.
I can fix it by using a Live Effect. But why does this happen? Is there a way to losslessly avoid this before importing to Xara? Because Live Effects impose their own resolution limitations on the image.
I use quite heavy Luminance noise reduction on my images as they are shot at very high speed ISO...
I adjust this in L4, picture in preview looks as smooth as a babies bottom and perfect...
I then export as a TIF file at Adobe 1998 and when I open it in Photoshop 5 the image is really noisy like I've not done the adjustments at all...
I use a 17inch Macbook Pro with the lastest operating system, this is the second performace issue over the last few week (problems with LB too)...I export my files manually using a card reader as RAW files, from a Canon 5D Mark 3...

Basically exactly how layer masks behave, except I would like to be able to have full non-destructive editing control over the masking layer (e.g. have it as a smart object). The problem with layer masks is that (AFAIK) only destructive editing is possible.
What I'm after is effectively the same as what a 'luma matte' does in After Effects. Is this at all possible in PS?

View 1 Replies View RelatedA long time ago, when I was using Photoshop Elelments I found a plug-in that made it possible to work with stacks as a unit.
If I labeled the top image in the stack that lable was applied to all the images in the stack; then I could sort the the image on top and all the images in the stack would stay together, or if I deleted an image in the stack all the images in the stack were deleted. Without it I have open each stack I lable and apply the lable, so when I sort the stacked images they stay together.
I need to convert color images of vehicles to monotone images. When done correctly they will look like the car has been primed in preparation for painting.
Conversion to gray scale does not do the trick.
I'm making a collage containing 4 images with different resolution. I want each image to have faded edges (to white) and I'm using gradient tool to accomplish this. The problem is that since the images have different resolution the gradient tool gives different result on each image even though I make the same "swipe". Is there another way of accomplishing these faded edges, equally looking and of the same size? The faded edges (to white) will, as you might have understood already, constitute the limit between the four pictures, that is, a white cross.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHi, I am starting a new business making art prints for artists. I have purchased this huge printer ... just got it. I've been studying photoshop for months using "classroom in a book" and am finding out that I've probably studied the wrong thing.
I have three questions and thanks in advance for any of your expertise.
1. I successfully printed out a two foot by two foot photo I took of my husband with my 8.2 megapixel camera. Then, tried to print out another photo.... used the same photoshop settings, but the print was 6 inches by 6 inches...... I did notice that the second print was only 16. %... I wondered if that caused the difference in size? How do I set that to 100 % if that is what is needed?
2. I want to print out multiple small prints using this big paper and printer... I want to tile these various prints (all different) along the top making rows... I want them to be all different. I called Epson support and they said I could do that in photoshop. Do I use the browser?
3. I have a wide format scanner. It does up to 11 x 17 inches. If I have something larger to scan, let's say, I scan the bottom of the image and then scan the top of the image, how do I put them together?
Just installed Lightroom 4, more than 60000 images were imported. Many of them were duplicates, triplets and so on. I want to have a clean, unincombured library. Should I delete the 60000 images and reinstall the images from my photo digital cards or use the slow process of "X" out the unwanted images? I would like to start improving my images vs removing the unwanted images.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems selecting images in the library module when multiple images are in view (not down in the timeline, but in the main window). It seems sporadic with which ones it won't let me select, it somehow manages to be the ones that I need to click....!! I just literally can't click it as if it were an image I already imported or something, but it's not grayed out like that. I've been having to select a nearby image then use my arrow keys to navigate to and click the image I need.

Lightroom will not display preview images during import of raw images. Any images in other formats display fine but with raw images I get a gray window the size of the preview image and the words "preview unavailable for this file".
Running Windows XP 64, Lightroom 3.3.
In Lightroom 4.1 when rating (flags, stars or colors) a selected group of images all images selected will have the same flag applied. For instance if I select 10 images to view in the survey mode to compare and select 1 to be flagged as rejected all 10 will be flagged rejected, not just the one. Is there a way to turn this off to select a group of images and flag each differently?

But somehow the images as not proper. There are some colour related issues and also the images are not proper.
