Photoshop :: Unwanted Luminance Blend Around The Edges In CC

Nov 11, 2013

I'm trying to get every pixel value in the black square to 000, and all the white pixels to 255,255,255.  I've started out with an 800 pixel square solid 255RGB square and then applied a solid 0RGB black square over the top in a new layer,  but as can be seen by the color pickers PSCC is doing an unwanted luminance blend around the edges.

Is there anything I can do to stop it and get a solid black square on a solid white one?

Photoshop :: How To Get CC Not To Blend In Unwanted Colors

Oct 22, 2012

I am retouching scanned images. Here is an enlarged portion of one of the images, to show the type of retouching that I need to do. The green dots are part of the image, and the white background is the color of the paper:

In this case, I want to completely remove the brown spot, and I have selected it with the Patch tool. I want to replace the selected area with the edge of one of the other green dots, and the white background.

Photoshop has the tendency to blend in the unwanted color (brown, in this case) into the replacement pixels. How do I avoid that from happening?

Photoshop :: Modify Luminance Level Based On Existing Luminance Level

Oct 29, 2012

Say I have an image where I'm attempting to extract a mask from and I've found that one of the channels will serve as a good starting point. Further suppose that I have found that I want to increase the luminance level of pixels in the range of 60 - 65 by 10 luminance levels each:

i.e. all pixels with luminance values of 60,61,62,63,64,65 would, after the operation have luminance values of 70,71,72,73,74,75. Is such a thing possible with Photoshop?

Photoshop :: How Do People Blend Edges?

I'm attaching a photo, I'd like to be able to "blend" the black backdrop paper into the floor. I've seen that done before, just not sure how people do it. Anyone know? I know it needs cropping, this is a "raw" file, just concerned with blending the paper into the wood.

Photoshop :: How Can I Make The Edges NOT Blend With The Background?

Apr 20, 2006

I've got a simple circle shape with some modifications that I need to not blend with the background color. The edges of the circle blend with the background color, but I will be using this image in a game and the background color is the alpha color. If the background color dissapears in the game, but parts of the circle have colors that blend with that background color, it will look very strange. How can I stop the image from blending it's edges (I guess what it's doing is anti-aliasing to make a smooth effect) with the background?

GIMP :: Make Edges Of Top Layer Blend In With Bottom Layer To Tell That There Is A Line

Feb 4, 2013

How do I make the edges of the top layer blend in with the bottom layer so you cannot tell that there is a line??? I want to make it look like a heart but I don't know how to smoothen the edges to make it look like it is part of the bottom layer so when I merge the layers there is no goofy lines looking like someone cropped another fire picture out...

Photoshop :: CS5 - Extracting Raw Luminance Values?

Sep 12, 2012

Is it possible to extract raw luminance values from raw image files? Actually, a de-Bayerized flat matrix would be ideal but could (? maybe) deal with a 3 layer RGB matrix -- rather like the output from dcraw, only in PS. Preferably without gamma applied.

What I'd like to do: I'd like to use image stacking for exposure accumulation using "summation" but find that highlights blow out readily. Right now the workaround is to let the highlights go and bring them back with HDR from one (or more) of the original frames, but that's seriously clunky. I'd like a "scaled summation" where a luminance-dependent scaling factor is applied in the sum. I don't yet know how to get there from here in PS (there's a megaclunky way involving dcraw, Matlab, and a stacking program ...), but it seems to me that the first step is to get the luminance info.

Illustrator :: Blend Tool Not Making Smooth Color Blend

Dec 4, 2013

I'm using Illustrator CC (on a Win7 Pro machine) at a beginner level, probably halfway to intermediate. I'm trying to learn how to blend colors together for highlights of various types (skin tones, clothing, light on objects, etc.) so that when I'm making a graphic for a project I'll have a decent idea of which tool/technique is best for the specific effect I need.

I'm trying to use the Smooth Color option in the blend tool. Late yesterday afternoon I recall creating two ellipses (one of which was a solid fill and one of which was a gradient going from black to transparent) and getting a smooth color transition between the two. It was a much harsher effect than I was looking for so I didn't keep it. This morning, while trying to replicate the same thing, I seem to be unable to use smooth color between two objects if one or more of them has a gradient applied. I only get what you see below, which is a step between the two objects.

I've done searches and found multiple references to blending gradients in this way and have followed those instructions (create the shapes, fill with the gradients, then either click on the Blend tool and click on the center of each shape, or click on Object -> Blend -> Make) but I can't seem to get a Smooth Color blend if either object has a gradient applied. Am I missing an important step somewhere? I'm 95% sure I accomplished it yesterday and nothing has been changed since then.

Illustrator :: Easiest Way To Create Different Edges For Ellipses (tire Edges)

Jun 18, 2013

I thought this was going to be a piece of cake in the new Illustrator CC but I am having a few unanticipated issues:)I need to create some vector tire images with different edges, such as the top one in the image below. So I thought this would be SO easy by simply creating a pattern brush in Illustrator and then using that for the outside. So I created the shape you see in the middle image below and created a pattern brush with this shape.I then created an ellipse and used the new brush for the outline.

All of those are open paths...it has taken the shape and applied it to the outline but has kept each shape separate, so I am not able to fill the circle in black. I could of course go in and manually join each little corner separately where the little shapes meet but this will take FOREVER with all the images I have to do.
