Aug 4, 2011Quick one here.... how do I keep DP7 from opening up the last doc worked on? And would that include choosing the desired doc/template to open when loaded?

Xara :: Last Documents Worked On Does Not Reload?
Dec 29, 2013Usually when I have worked on a project and close the program, the next time I open my Xara program the previous documents I was working on would load, but not now. I'm having the same problem with XPX and just cannot seem to find what I may hae changed. Having that ability was sometimes a lifesaver.

I can open this pdf file outside photoshop.no problem openning other pdf files on photoshop.
Xara :: Importing Word Document
Apr 12, 2011I am trying to work out the best way to import a word document into Designer Pro 6 and am struggling.I have a 21 page word document which is formatted text only i.e. no graphics included. I have exported this from Word as a RTF file. I now want to import this into DP6 so that I can use the power of DP6 for embedding all the graphics that I want.
Ideally what I would like to be able to do is to set-up a page with a text area, import the RTF document and insert it into the textarea and for DP6 to create the following pages with flowing text areas. I don't seem to be able to do this.
I think I must be missing a trick as in Gary Bouton's excellent book on Xara Xtreme 5 he says in the section on "Pouring Text into the Layout" (Page 198), that "Xara automatically adds pages to a document to handle text that won't fit on a page.".
Xara :: Set Blank Document On Launch?
Jul 11, 20131. I am working with some large files and the startup time is tooooooo long. How do I get DPro9 to open with only a blank document?
2. What is the logic here anyway. Even if I close some documents while I am working, they still at times open upon next launch. Have yet to crack this enigma?

Feb 27, 2012I should be able to import a .cdr file but when I try the message I get is "There was some error while importing XPS document. Possible wrong format". Listed under "Other Imported Formats" is .CDR CorelDRAW (3,4 & 5). The file I have is from version 5. How to be able to import Corel files?

Oct 28, 2012When I open a document that I've worked on previously, Illustrator seems to re-set its tools - presumably to default settings. For example the pen tool fill is white, the stroke is black, the point is......etc.
It's frustrating to have to change these back to the settings that I am currently using for this document.
This also seems to apply to the windows down the right hand side that seem to open in default as opposed to how I last left them when I saved and closed Illustrator.
I'd sort of assumed that Illustrator would 'remember' my previous settings etc and open in that way. Is there a way of opening with the same, previous settings?
Illustrator :: CS6 Crashes On 10.8.2 After Opening A Document
Oct 23, 2012I have two laptops, one Mac OS 10.6 and one brand-new 10.8.2. They both of Illustrator CS6 installed via the cloud solution thing, and they both crash shortly after opening existing documents. The minute I attempt to change something — move a path, add a layer, anything — Illustrator crashes with the following error.
Scott suggested I try a Safe Boot. Indeed, whenever I reboot the computer with the shift key held down I'm able to use Illustrator until I quit. I'd rather not reboot my entire machine every time I need to use Illustrator, and I'll never remember to not accidently quit it.

Illustrator SDK :: How To Get Notification Before Opening A Document
Aug 9, 20121) As in Illustrator SDK, we have a notifier "kAIDocumentOpenedNotifier", which comes when a document is opened. My problem is, if document is having some missing fonts, then Illustrator first throws the missing font window and then sends the "kAIDocumentOpenedNotifier" notification. Is there any way to get this notification at very start of opening document(before missing font window)?
We have "kAIDocumentAboutToCloseNotifier" notifier. but this is from close doc event. I want the same for open doc event
Note : We have such notifier in Indesign SDK - "kBeforeOpenDocSignalResponderService"

Xara :: Multipage Document - Scale Per Page
Jul 26, 2011If you have a multipage document such as the plans for a house you can have a different scale factor on each page if you turn off "All pages in document the same" in the Options dialog's "Page Size" tab.
Then you can set different scales on different pages. E.g. 1:100 for house floor plans and 1:500 for site layout plans.

Basically I have created a custom size animation as 750 x 245 pixels, this has been exported to .swf flash file. So in the document where I would like to use it, applied the File/Import.
But somehow like this the imported object comes with 192 x 192 pixels dimension, in what the main issue is that this is a square, with big white are around the real animation which was a long rectangle. How I could import the .swf file without those white dimension?

Jul 6, 2011Has anything changed in the export of a document to a PDF.
I have a problem exporting a document that contains a shadow on some text. In the final PDf it shows the shadow as a block. I'm sure i used to be able to convert the text to an editable shape / ungroup them and the problem would be resolved. But it still exports the text with a block behind it.
I found that if I convert the back image under the text to a bitmap it resolves the problem only this causes a color shift in the background, no good when I'm trying to keep constant colors throughout the document.

Mar 22, 2011I have a working document, part of which should become a template for similar docs.
However the part that should become a template is not all that is in the document.
I guess I can turn off the eyeball of all layers or objects not meant to be part of the template but then the template will have all the extra junk in it (turned off).
Is there a better way than saving a copy of the doc, opening it and deleting all that is not meant to be template, then resave as template?
Photoshop :: CS3 Crashing When Opening New Document Or File?
Sep 24, 2012Photoshop Cs3 has started crashing all the time when opening a new document or file, pdf, eps, tiff, jpeg etc. It shows the preview starts to rasterize (pdf) and then the crash report comes up and the program crashes.
We are a printing company and I am not sure what is going on. I have removed deactivated and reloaded the program several times.

Jun 14, 2006When I try to create a new document or open an existing one in either ps 7 or CS, it closes. This happens everytime.
Previously they were both saying "cannot create new document because of program error" but I deleted the preferences, and now they do this...
I've re-installed CS twice now.
When I try photoshop in another account it does the "could not create a new document because of program error" message.
I have a 1.33 GHZ PowerPC G$, 512 Ram, OS X version 10.4.6
Photoshop used to work fine, and then one day randomly had the error message, and now closes when i create or open documents.
Illustrator :: AI Document Is Opening With A Blank Window?
Jun 14, 2012I have a customer that sent me some Illustrator files (.ai) that, when I open them, they open with just a blank window and a box with no fill or stroke around the outside of the document. I am using Illustrator CS4 and I suspect this may be an Illustrator CS6 document but I didn't get any warnings when I opened it so I'm not sure. (I also don't know what version of Illustrator the original creator is using). The document sizes are large (35MB +) so there should be SOME content in them. I've tried making sure nothing is hidden and there are no layers that are turned off. I've also tried opening the files in Acrobat CS4 with no luck.

When I open Illustrator, opening the first document causes my panels to jump to the bottom of the screen, so they're nearly off the screen. If I click the button for my workspace, they return to their proper place at the right side of the screen. If I open another document, they stay where they are.
But it happens every time I open Illustrator and open the first document. It happens with every file, and with any custom workspace. I've created new workspaces and it hasn't solved the problem. I haven't found an answer on Google or in the forums anywhere.

Jan 1, 2014I purchased Designer Pro 9 about a month ago. I have tried about 30 times, no kidding, to change the US Letter template from Arial 10 to Verdana 12. It happened again this morning and I've decided to finally come to the forum and find out what's going on.
Here's what happens: I open US Letter and make the changes, then choose Save Template. When I reopen it, it's still Arial 10. Makes no difference if I choose "Use as default template" or not. I even tried saving it as a template with a different name, Verdana 12, but it still opens as Arial 10.
As a test, I opened Designer 6, chose New, US Letter, and changed the font to Brussels 12. I then selected Save Template, saved it as Brussels 12, and closed out. Then I chose File/New/Brussels 12. It opened as a letter template with Brussels 12 point. That's the procedure I used years ago to change US Letter to Verdana 12 in Designer 6, and so the Save Template function still works in that version.
Because nothing I've tried seems to work, I am wondering whether any template I create will be saved in 9.

Other people have been able to open the file from the same location, so the files aren't corrupted.

Sep 13, 2012I haven't posted here in a while because I haven't needed to but recently I switched from X5 to X7.1 (because it was only $25), I have it downloaded and for the most part working. I'm having a problem and I'm not sure why. I simply cannot open AI, EPS, or SVG files. I know th files aren't corrupt because I opened them with X5. With every file I get the error message attached. I've tried run as admin but it didn't change anything. I've ran debug and it doesn't show those filters as loading. Could this be quirk of the downloaded version?

Jan 23, 2013I opened a document and it popped up a messages asking if I want to revert to the saved version YES or NO. This is weird because I didn't try to open the document twice. I suspect it is a macro that was causing this problem but I have many so it could take a while to locate the culprit. I also suspect a windows 7 update may have caused an interference with the macro.

Jul 26, 2013When you open a PDF you have the choice of opening it for editing. Unfortunately it produces small chunks of text instead of a nice text block. So, you really cannot manipulate it to add text the middle of a paragraph say.
I tried to be clever and selected a bunch of chunks and tried a "combine shapes"" XDP9 did not like that a that at all and went belly up.
