Xara :: Prevent Resizing Of Image For End Users?

Aug 13, 2013

Any way to prevent an end user from changing the aspect ratio of an image - in this case, a company logo? I recently designed a new logo for our company, but the persons responsible for applying it to certain marketing materials have been stretching it and making it look different on pretty much every piece of media.

Xara :: Resizing A Photo For Print

Nov 12, 2013

I am completely unable to get a couple of the photos to resize to where they will print in an 8x10 (960x768) format. No matter what I do, they're either cut off or they're distorted. I know the problem is that the original jpg file from my camera is not exactly the right proportions but isn't there some way to correct that using DPX?

In the three above, the people on the ends are cut off when I order the prints, despite my edits and resize efforts.In this one, the print comes out distorted because the sides are squashed in when it is printed at the store.

Is there anyway that can be maintained for the original picture shape.

I was using an earlier version of that a graphic designer and have upgraded to version 9, I never had any problem resizing image in the previous version.

Xara :: Resizing Columns / Keyboard Key To Ignore Vertical Movements

Aug 9, 2013

I'm looking at the expanded DTP functionality in XDP9 and have question about resizing columns.

Say I wanted 2 columns that were different widths - I would open up the 'A4 1-Column' template, select the Text tool, right-click inside the column, take the 'Columns...' option, increase Number of columns to 2 then adjust each columns width as desired by dragging the red corner handles. The problem here is that it is very easy to inadvertently alter a columns height because it's very difficulty to move a mouse horizontally without wavering a little bit vertically up or down. Is there a constrainer keyboard key or some other method that ensures vertical movements are ignored?

Lightroom :: Image Sizing Dimensions - Wrong Image Size?

Jul 24, 2013

Image Sizing Dimensions produces wrong image sizes upon export for certain images.

Example, I have export set up for iPad resolution, 2048x1536px at 264ppi. If I now export an 3264x4928px image it should be resized to 1356x2048px. What I get is 1356x2047 instead, one pixel too short on the long side. This doesn't happen for all images source resolutions and ratios though. I haven't figured out the pattern yet.

Photoshop :: CS6 / Wrong Image Size When Placing?

Oct 16, 2012

When I try to place a picture in photoshop CS6 either from drag&drop in the application window or from the place command, my image gets automatically resized based on the resolution (pixels per inch) of my document.

Example:

I create a new blank document, 1000*1000px @ 300ppi.I have another image that I want to place in the document and this image measures 500*500px @ 100ppi.I then go to File->Place  and the image that appears is way too big.  In the Info panel, it says that the image is 1500x1500 and the transform settings at the top indicate that the image hasen't been scaled because both width and height are at 100%.If I cahnge my document resolution (no resample) to 100ppi, the image has the right size when I place it.

Is this normal?  Because it has never done that with past versions of Photoshop.  If it is normal, is there a way I can change this because placing an image based on it's physical (printed) size makes absolutely no sense.  1 pixel = 1 pixel.

Photoshop :: Image Resizing

Sep 3, 2008

All my images are 3008x2000, and I want to resize them down to a smaller scale for a web site. I know there must be a simple math equation to use to figure out what size would be safe where the images keep their proportion correct. In other words, at 3008x2000, if I reduce to 600x400, it looks out of proportion.

I would like it to be 6x7 inches, but the only way I can think to do that, is if I resize the 3x2 inch image, to 6x7 inches. This makes the image a little blurry, so I sharpen it up a little bit.

Photoshop :: Resizing Image

Jul 30, 2009

I have just moved on to Ps in CS4 from Ps 7.

I have just opened up an image from a file in order to resize it for placing into an InDesign document.

The image is 16cm (1986p) x 15cm (1812) at 300dpi.

I resized it to 3cm wide at 300 dpi with the following boxes checked: scale styles/constrainproportions/resample image/bicubic.

But the image is very pixellated when reduced and taken into ID, even tho reduced in size from the original. I've done this dozens of times in Ps 7 abd never had this happen.

Photoshop :: Resizing An Image

I have an image that is very large. It is 4064 x 2704 px. I want to resize it so that I can use it for the header on my blog. I need it to be about 200 x 600 px. I have tried to resize it and when I do it becomes kind of blurry and distorted looking. I am assuming this is because of how large the image is initially.

is there a way to resize it this much and it still be sharp and not stretched looking.

Photoshop :: Resizing Photo Image In CS6

Sep 24, 2012

if this is a duplicate posting.  I'm new to using this resource.  Just want to be sure my question is getting to the right place for qualified responses.

Here is my dilemma.  I'm very anal about this and was able to solve the problem in CS3.  But I've lost the instructions.  What I want to do:

When I resize (or resample) an image to 30 inches wide for printing I want the image on my screen in CS6 to be exactly 30 inches wide.  Thusly I am able to see a true representation of my final sharpening.

As it is now... if I resize it to 30 inches it actually shows up at approx. 24-1/2 inches wide on screen. Any magical trick to adjust this in CS6 as I was able to do in CS3?

Photoshop :: Resizing Image - Look Pixelated

Oct 23, 2013

Why, when you downsample a picture  (say from 300 to 72 dpi) does it look look pixellated, even though it is scaled down in Indesign and the effective DPI is well over 300.

I am using little icons that are clipped out photos they will be printed at about a quarter inch. These icons are on a bunch of calendars so they are placed in Indesign hundreds of times. Their actual size was originally about 5 inches at 300 dpi -- wayyyy larger than necessary for the final printed size.

I need to downsize them, without have to adjust each one in the ID document as they are already placed. I can do this by downsampling them in PS, from 300 to 72 dpi and not change the dimensions.But when I do this, even though they are so small in the ID document, they still look pixelated.

Photoshop :: Image Sizing / Resizing

I need to make some new images for a jcarousel we've just coded into one of our sites. I have a number of existing images and logos that I need to drop into a 150 x 94 px size - I have a lot of these to convert.

What is the best (easiest) way to do this - they are all different sizes and formats. We'd like to end up with either gifs or pngs - if we make sprites we would need to keep the canvas size the same but knock the image size down to 150 x 47.

Photoshop :: Distorting Image When Resizing

Nov 24, 2012

I've found that photoshop is distorting the image when resizing. If you have an image and you duplicate the layer, then with the bottom layer set its size (by free transform) to 99% (width and height), then set the top layers opacity to 50%, the image should be evenly blurred but it's not. It is in focus in the middle and blurred around the edges.

VideoStudio :: Insert Image Without Resizing

Sep 13, 2013

I am using version X4 and don't see option turning off image resizing. The problem appears when I want to insert image larger than a video size (i.e. 640x480). Video Studio put image to the video layer with resolution fitted to video size. I want it to put image with it's original size.

For example I want to insert image with the resolution of 1920x1080 to the video 640x480. As a result I see on the movie still image resized to the smaller resolution (640x480) - it can be fitted to the video or can maintain original aspect ratio but it has smaller resolution! Then when I wan to show a fragment of the image (let it be a 640x480 crop of the full image 1920x1080) Video Studio is re sampling 1920x1080 image to the smaller resolution 640x480 and then the only way to show cropped image is to enlarge this smaller one. When it is enlarged lets say to 120% is OK, but I need to enlarge it to 300-350%. It looks horrible.
