Lightroom :: Image Sizing Dimensions - Wrong Image Size?

Jul 24, 2013

Image Sizing Dimensions produces wrong image sizes upon export for certain images.

Example, I have export set up for iPad resolution, 2048x1536px at 264ppi. If I now export an 3264x4928px image it should be resized to 1356x2048px. What I get is 1356x2047 instead, one pixel too short on the long side. This doesn't happen for all images source resolutions and ratios though. I haven't figured out the pattern yet.

Photoshop :: CS6 / Wrong Image Size When Placing?

Oct 16, 2012

When I try to place a picture in photoshop CS6 either from drag&drop in the application window or from the place command, my image gets automatically resized based on the resolution (pixels per inch) of my document.

Example:

I create a new blank document, 1000*1000px @ 300ppi.I have another image that I want to place in the document and this image measures 500*500px @ 100ppi.I then go to File->Place  and the image that appears is way too big.  In the Info panel, it says that the image is 1500x1500 and the transform settings at the top indicate that the image hasen't been scaled because both width and height are at 100%.If I cahnge my document resolution (no resample) to 100ppi, the image has the right size when I place it.

Is this normal?  Because it has never done that with past versions of Photoshop.  If it is normal, is there a way I can change this because placing an image based on it's physical (printed) size makes absolutely no sense.  1 pixel = 1 pixel.

Lightroom :: Image Sizing For Matting And Framing

Mar 26, 2009

I need precise image sizing for matting and framing.

If I chose a width of 11.5 in Cell Size, why are my prints larger than that? Margins are 0 (which shouldn't matter anyway on 13" paper). I need .75" on each side.

My image is cropped to 2:3 ratio, same as my camera. What am I missing?

Lightroom :: 5.3 Image Sizing In Export Not Working As Expected

Jan 15, 2014

When I export an image and specify the maximum dimensions in the Image Sizing section, Lightroom only honors the maximum width or height if both original dimensions are below the requested setting.

For example, I have an image with original dimensions of 2592x1936.

If I export using 1935x1935 in the Image Sizing section with option "Width & Height" or "Dimension", I get an exported file with dimensions 1935x1445. The "width" is properly constrained to the maximum value I've entered.

However, if I export using 1937x1937, the resulting exported file has dimensions 2592x1936--the original size of the image.I've tried the same with an original image of 1936x2592 and get similar results.

Photoshop :: Changing Image Size On Images Of Different Dimensions

Jul 28, 2004

I have to process a couple of thousand photos. What I need to do is get PS to resize the canvas so that Height=Width, no matter which is the larger. In the area where it increases the canvas size, it should then have white space.

So that for a 10x5 landscape picture, it resizes to be 10x10 canvas, for a 5x10 portrait picture, it resizes to be 10x10 canvas, etc.

Illustrator :: Save Image As Very Specific Dimensions And File Size?

Lightroom :: Image 3 To CS5 And Back Looks Wrong?

Jun 4, 2012

I just installed Lr3 (was using 2.7) and CS5 (was using CS3).  From Lr I took an image to retouch in CS5 and when it came back to Lr it looked terrible - the exposure had changed at least a stop and I did not do that in PS.  I loved how I had Lr2 set up and I have lost it all.  In Lr2 the edited image would automaticaalycome back with a T (for tweaked) added to the name and look like it did when it left PS.

GIMP :: Cannot Change Image Pixel Dimensions From Print Size Dialogue

Dec 15, 2012

"Image > Print Size" really IS the command you are looking for.

The key is to pay attention to the units-of-measure shown on the Print Size dialogue box:- The "Width" and "Height" values under Print Size are displayed in real-world units (inches, mm, etc.), not image pixels.- The "Resolution" values are displayed in pixels-per-unit.- You cannot change your image's pixel dimensions (aka scale the image) from the Print Size dialogue. That's what the "Scale Image" command is for.Remember the relation between pixel and print sizes is:(print size) = (pixel size) / (print resolution)

When you change the image's print resolution, of course the real-world size (the "width" or "height" shown in the Print Size dialog) of your image will update to reflect the new print resolution -- that value is calculated from your image's actual pixel size and whatever resolution value you just entered. This is totally normal behavior -- in fact, it's expected. If you change an image's resolution from, say, 150 pixels/inch to 75 pixels/inch, this doubles the print size of your image but only the print size; the image's pixel size remains precisely the same as before. (You can confirm this by comparing "Image > Canvas Size..." before and after changing the resolution.)

And as others have stated, if you're using the image for Web viewing then its print resolution has absolutely zero effect on how it will appear onscreen (print resolution only affects, well, actual printing), in which case you'll want to use the "Scale Image" command to actually scale your image larger or smaller.

Lightroom :: Image Size Changes When Moving Image Between CC

Feb 11, 2014

Image size changes when moving an image between Lightroom and CC.

I opened a .dng image in LR and then opened it in the Develop module.  I clicked on Crop Overlay and then on the ‘As Shot’ drop down menu (the lock is closed) and cropped to 11 x 17 and clicked ‘Done’-.

I click Cntl-E and the image opens in CC.  There I click on Image > Image Size and the Image Size  is 13.288 inches by 20.533 inches.

Why does the image size change?

I believe there is a menu to control the size of the image and I've looked everywhere I can think of in LR and CC, I googled various descriptions and I checked two of Scott Kelby's books, but I just can't figure out how to keep the image a consistent size when moving between LR and CC.

However, when I save the image and run my mouse over the image in Bridge, it shows a size between 2 to 3 mb. I can't figure out why this discrepancy, or what math I need to do in order to figure out how to create the required image size other than by trial and error.

Photoshop :: Image Sizing

Mar 9, 2009

CS4 Is not allowing me to size the images as I would like.

I have PSD files that I need to size at- in this instance- to 11" Wide X 8.5" tall. CS4 will not let me do this.

When I try to size the image to fit the size I need one dimension gets thrown off. As I do not want to distort the image, I try to crop. (Cutting part of the image that has to be sacrifised to fit the size needed.) That will not work either. CS4 will not allow that change.

Once again what should be a simple task has become a miserable CS4 experience. Hours of reading instructions and watching videos is of no help.

Sizing an image to a given set of measurments should not be so difficult (and so far impossible).

What is the best (easiest) way to do this - they are all different sizes and formats. We'd like to end up with either gifs or pngs - if we make sprites we would need to keep the canvas size the same but knock the image size down to 150 x 47.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Sizing Outline With Image

Aug 30, 2011

Is there a  way of scaling the "outline" when scaling the image... automatically? It seem that this has to be checked in the "Outline Pen" dialogue box every time you add an "outline" to an image.......and it starts to become a tedious task if you forget to do that to an entire project.

That just happened to me with 30 different images. I had to go back and "check" the box to every single outline.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Outline Sizing With Image

When you  size the outline of an object  on your properties bar to say "4.0pt.". And check "size with image" in "Object properties" docker

And when you either expand or contract your image...shouldn't your "Object Properties" docker show the size of the outline relative to the size of the outline when you expand or contract your image.

Example: outline is 4.0pt. on object........when expanded to a size bigger the outline is let's say 8.234pt. In the "object Properties" docker the outline says 4.0pt. Shouldn't it show "8.234pt. as well?

Photoshop :: Correct Watermark Sizing For Full Image Width

Nov 21, 2013

I'm working for a client watermark his images. He has designed a watermark in PS CS6 that extends across the bottom of the image, the full width of the image. Like this:

Obviously, the images to be watermarked are all different widths and the watermark gets scaled up or down accordingly which is not the desired effect. On tall/thin images, the watermark is barely visible. Vice versa on wide or square images. I have tried many different widths of the watermark based on the widest and thinnest images. It works, but still not the desired effect for my client.

I've installed the Adobe Watermark Panel, but it seems that it wants to resize images with a width/height box on the right of the image quality and ppi boxes. (I might be reading that wrong though)

I've also tried several freeware programs. All work fine, but my client doesn't seem to think so.

So the question is, can I apply a watermark that doesn't get scaled? I know image height is a factor. I could write my own application to do it, but this seems like a re-inventing the wheel issue. I think the watermark should be scaled in height to a percentage of the image being watermarked and any excess width should be cut or truncated.

Lightroom :: Can't Reduce Image Size

Feb 3, 2014

I have an image that I took in RAW with a Canon 5D. I then masked a large portion of the image using the adjustments brush. The result was what I wanted but the image is now very large. I exported the image to a DNG to retain editability. The resulting DNG is 53,679 kb. If I export the image to a JPG at 25% quality limiting the size to 2000 pixels on the longest edge I still get a 7,795 kb image.

I have had this problem with masking before. Is there any way to get rid of the bloat that the masking caused?
