I am going to do a clean installation of Windows 7 pro 64bit. Now I am running Win XP pro and I would like to keep my Projects that I have created with my VideoStudio pro x3. All my capturing videos are on another drive. What files should I backup so I can reinstate them on win 7?

Never mind -- I did find out where these commands were hidden... I'm working on a map, and I'm trying to get latitude and longitude lines to overprint the actual map. As I moved the layer with the lat/longitude lines "forward" they don't appear to overprint the map in the background. Is there some other secret here to get the desired effect?
I have a continuously moving looping slide show that has back and next buttons. When you press the next button it should move forward one where ever it is on the timeline every time you click it and the same for the back button.
This is the code I am using but the the problem is that it goes to else {sym.play("one");} when the button is clicked. No matter where in the timeline the next button is clicked, it goes back to number one. I don't know much about coding and I have tried everything to fix this but I am stuck.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to select part of an image with just one layer. Say I just flattened the image and have to move one part of. I select it with the rectangular select tool. It seems intuitive that I could then just move what I selected, but when I drag the selection, the selection itself moves without moving what is inside the selection.
If I then remember to click the move tool and try to move what's in the selection (seems to work sometimes, maybe when there's multiple layers?) the entire image moves.
The only way I can move part of the image over is if I make a selection and then cut it (ctrl X) then paste it.
How am I supposed to move part of the flattened image, is there a way I can set it to default to "When I select something, I can immediately drag that selected area around."
crashes in VSX2 (and all previous versions for that matter). At Corel's suggestion I installed the trial version of X5. In the meantime, I had my X2 working a lot better.
But I thought I'd take a look at X5 and see how it looked, since I'd gone to all the trouble of installing it. In order to try it out, I opened some of my projects and played with them a bit. I didn't mean to save them, but apparently I must have because now I can no longer open them in X2. Windows explorer thinks they are X2 project files, but when I try to open them in X2 nothing comes up. Then I try to open them in X5, and sure enough there they are. Project properties confirms they are now X5 project files. I tried to do a save as, but the only options are X5, X4 and X3. No choice for X2.
This is a problem because I haven't decided if I want to buy X5 or not. If I do, fine, but I don't want to be forced into it just so I can work on my old projects. Is there any way to convert them back to a format that X2 will open?
I'm trying to achieve a look where there is a map, be it a road map or London underground map with a logo that will move to show our movements from one place to another following the road / rail line.
The logo could even be a dot which moves, I just don't know the easiest way to achieve this.
I just purchased Video Studio X6. How do I get the text from X5 into X6?
View 6 Replies View RelatedMany of my videos seem to be trimming and saving to a file. With a HD video at a high data rate, all I do is trim the video and save back to a file. However, I select the "Same as first video clip" to save to a new file. What I usually do is save the file and use a third party software to reduce the video the data rate I need.
In other to reduce the re-rendering time, I wish both processes could be done in VS's 'Options' button.
I've tried everything I can think of to get the audio to playback after capturing from a VHS tape, but can't figure it out. I can hear the audio output from my sound card during capture, but playback has no audio. I noticed in the Video Properties box of the Options menu in Capture that the "audio source" says "pass through to sound card", but the "audio source" box is grayed out and can't be changed. I am using an S-Video cable for the video from the VCR, and L/R audio to a stereo plug into my Line In on the motherboard. I can hear the audio during capture, but not playback. BTW, the only means I have at this point is to use Pinnacle Studio to capture, then export as an mpg. file to import into VideoStudio. Pinnacle gives me a choice in audio inputs. Why is VSX4 not allowing that?

With adobe premiere this is really simple, i have watched about 100 clips at you tube but can't find it. I have tried using the CTRL key but than i need to select each item seperate...way to much work to select hundreds of items.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy PC crashed and has two projects that I had completed a significant amount of work on. The the video files and vsp files are stored on Edrive and music on Ddrive. I had also created some painting creator files and am not sure where they will have been saved? Rather than try to reinstall windows and reformat the C drive I have decided to upgrade to a new PC. I could then remove the 2 slave drives from the old pc and use hard drive housings and a usb connection to link them to the new pc (don't feel confident enough to install them directly into the new one). I am concerned that the drives will then have different names and the vsp file will not recognise the files resulting in days of lost work. I notice that there is a function called relink but am not sure how this works and whether I will be able to use it to recover all of the edits easily.
The new PC will be intel i7 with nvidia gtx 570 graphics card, I have also ordered PROx4 ultimate so would prefer to use this.
The options as I see them are:
1. Reinstall windows and persevere with the old PC assuming that the slave drives are intact.
2. Remove the slave drives and connect through USB then try and rename the drive to the same as before (e and d)
3. Remove the drives and connect through USB, let the new pc allocate a name to them and use the relink function?
how to have a video playing & have a object on screen playing a video inside of it & the object moving around the screen? For example if I put a video into a picture frame I can the render as a file & use that as my object, but if I then want to move this on the screen say up/down/left /right tilt etc how can I do this? View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a new notebook with intel I7 processor, 8 GB memory and 500 GB 7.200 drive. I captured successful the video from my Sony camera, cutted the video, produced a DVD and enjoyed afterwards the video. To back-up the video on a tape normally I generate a video file in my Video Studio x3 (latest version) and transfer it back to the tape on my video camera. This isn't working in the right way due to stuttering after 10-15 minutes transfering back. After restarting the transition the time until stuttering starts is then less then 10 minutes, next time less then 5 minutes.
View 12 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to attach an identify marker or title to a moving object in Video Studio X4 PRO. I video trains. As the train comes toward me in the video I would like to attach the number of the diesel and type to it and each unit behind it ,if there are any. As it comes closer the marker gets bigger and more readable then, as the diesel disappears from view it's marker goes with it and the next one does the same thing, then the next.
For example, during NASCAR races an identifying marker, showing the drivers name and car number, is applied on screen and stay "attached" to the car as it travels through traffic around the raceway until it's turned off.
I don't know if it will look good or not but I would like to try it. Is that possible or have I gone way beyond VS x4 pro's capability?
How to lock an picture (png, for example) to a moving object in Corel VideoStudio X5? maybe i might use some plugins? i know that in some video editing software this option exist and simply to use. is it real in videostudio x5?

In essence, I'm hoping that I can "bulk" cut and paste all these clips together instead of doing it one clip at a time by either dragging each individual clip or cutting and pasting.

For example, the Star Wars sequence where the Star Wars title passes from back (very big title) to infinite with downsizing, not the long scroll text, only de main title.
I am using VS5 for the first time by creating avi files in Proshow Producer and importing them into video studio to make a show with both video and still images. My question is; once clips are imported to the video track can they be moved left or right? The reason I ask is the videos made in Producer are not necessarily in the order of the finished show and I would like to move the clips around to make the flow of the show smoother. When I try to move the clips on the video track they won't move left or right but only up or down in the overlay track. When I move the clip where I want it and move it into the video track the clip snaps back into it's original position. Is moving the clips into the overlay track the only way I can put them where I want them or am I missing something?

View 7 Replies View RelatedVS9 enables users to virtually split clips by scene before adding them to the work space. It does not split the actual file but just keeps pointers to the various scenes. VS9 keeps this data in a file named scenedb.dat. However if the clip is moved to a different location then the scene information is not re-linked and is essentially lost (as far as VS is concerned) although the data is still in the scenedb.dat.
Is there any way to go around this problem and recover the scene info after a clip is moved?
That is, besides not moving the clips to a different folder than the one it was in when the scene data was first generated and/or re-generating the scen information?
I tried simple editing of the file path in the .dat file but this does not seem to work. It would be nice to understand the encoding rule for the scenedb.dat file to 1) update it 2) use it to generate some index db outside of VS (e.g. html page).
Can I move in Video Studio objects like photos/logos in a fully custom, controlled professional way ?
I mean seriously speaking even youtube tutorials from people having popular tutorial channels look quite amateur so not sure if Corel video studio is any good for making for example nice looking serious marketing clips.
In particular I want to achieve pretty basic effect with sliding transparent title bar and then title appearing (for example current speaker name) and then slide off.
It's the basic thing you see on TV all the time in talk shows or news channels.
Do I need to literally for example create white rectangular jpg first to use it as a background bar for subtitles? And then for example apply transparency, animate it and then shpw/animate text on top?I know there are attributes like Enter from right etc, but it's so simple and template like Powerpoint. I mean, I don't expect rolling in and out animation but at least more control over movement direction, position and timing.I think the newest Path feature from X6 looks like something I would be after but is there anything for that in X5? It seams very basic feature.
if I want to keep it tidy and apply the same animation for each title/text do just copy the set of clips with effects or there are ways of saving the 'template' so it is equally precise and the same every time throughout the movie.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo Im trying to make a star wars racer. Im currently making the shell of the engine and for some reason a single polygon deletes outside of a selection. Its weird because I shift click the polygons i wanna delete to delete all of them in a line so i dont have to delete 1 by 1 and for some reason that 1 polygon outside of that strip deletes too.
Im new to 3ds so how to add that polygon back? It was too far back for me to simply undo this so I need a way of attaching a new polygon onto that object.
