View 1 RepliesI had upgraded from LR2 to LR3 about 6 months ago. It was working great, but the other night I opened LR and it seems like it has gone back to LR2 mode. All my recent work is gone and I have work that I had done in LR2. I even have assignments that I had done last semester, 2011 work. How can I get all my photos back?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have my catalog and photos on my D drive. I notice that sometimes photos that I import also appear on my C drive. All I have been able to learn is that there is an option for backing up imports but I cannot find an option to disable this.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been working on my macbook pro for years now exporting files from LR into PS, doing my edits, then saving and having the file automatically import back into LR.
I just upgraded to an iMac and have everything set up, but, now, when I do the EXACT same process, I recieve the error "Could not save as "IMG_1445.tif" because write access was not granted." when trying to save my file in Photoshop.
If it has anything to do with it...I also get an error before exporting from LR: "This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw Plug-in version 7.4 for full compatibility"
I checked my software and it is up to date.
when I go to quit LR and backup the catalog I am getting a message that reads "Lightroom was unable to back up the catalog named .... Please check your folder permissions, and make sure that you have available space on your backup drive and main catalog's drive." I backed up the catalog as recently as 11/12 (it is 11/16) without incident, as I have been doing for my catalog for many years. The drive to which I back up and which has the main catalog has sufficient space to backup. Folder permissions all seem to be in order. I have tried to backup on 3 different drives and get the same message each time. I have a Mac Pro Tower running OS 10.7.5. I am using LR 4.4.

I don't know how to describe it better but I hope you can see what my problem is. I have no clue how to get the bar back to my user interface
View 2 Replies View RelatedI wanted to create a new calander for 2014, so I created a new catalog and started to import 25 images which were in my library in various folders. once I was done with the selections I could see that there are several catalogs set up from each folder of origin. if I click on library to get out of the "catalog" mode nothing happens. I can no longer see any of my library folders on the left panel, unless I try to import more images.
How do I delete or cancel this request to add a catalog and get back to my original library? also, in hind sight, I believe I wanted to add a "collection". please confirm the difference between a collection, smart collection and a catalog.
I tried the HOME key, but nothing happend.
How can I go to the first or last image without pressing for several minutes left or right arrow?
So last week I shot a wedding. I just imported pictures from my computer and have been working on them. Tonight I sit down to edit and was going to delete another catalog not thinking and deleted all of my pictures including my wedding folders. Those had thousands of files most of which I had already edited. They went to my Recycle Bin so I do still have them but now they are not edited. Is there ANY way of getting what I had edited back?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using LR 4.2 and I have a question about the non-destructive editor, specifically the use of adjustment brushes. After I work with an adjustment brush and then go on with my editing I can't figure out how to make tweaks to what was darn earlier on the adjustment brush area. With all the other editing functions I can change something and then later make a change. For example, I can set -10 highlights and then later I can change it to -15 highlights and then later change it to something else. With things I have done with adjustment brushes though I haven't figured out the technique to do that. If I select adjustment brush and then click on the area that I had earlier changed with an adjustment brush it doesn't seem to reselect that area so that I can tweak it. Is there a way to go back and tweak areas selected with an adjustment brush?

View 4 Replies View RelatedUsually when I import photos into Lightroom I do not right away make a copy to an external drive. So then when I want to update my backup folder on that drive at a later date, I find myself running into the issue of not knowing which photos need to be added to the drive and which are already on it. Is there an easy way to keep the Lighroom folder in sync with an external hard drive so that there are no gaps in images and so that the folder hierarchy is the same both on my computer and backup drive without actually deleting and reinstalling the entire Lighroom folder all over again which would take forever? Basically what is your backup workflow and how do you keep track of everything?
Also is there a way to backup during import so that the images are categorized by year/month (just like in the Lightroom catalog) on the external drive, because usually it just creates a new folder and I have to drag the images into their appropriate folders after the fact.
I just installed Lr3 (was using 2.7) and CS5 (was using CS3). From Lr I took an image to retouch in CS5 and when it came back to Lr it looked terrible - the exposure had changed at least a stop and I did not do that in PS. I loved how I had Lr2 set up and I have lost it all. In Lr2 the edited image would automaticaalycome back with a T (for tweaked) added to the name and look like it did when it left PS.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm a bit confused about the round trip process. If LR is non-destructive, what happens when a virtual copy photo is sent to Photoshop? I notice that Photoshop seems to be working on the original photo.
How then is photo routed back to LR for further editing? Does LR track editis made in PS?
After you edit a picture on lightroom, how do you save the edited picture back onto your computer?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I first load photos into lightroom I get a quick preview than looks like a JPEG? A second later after the image has time to load the color will change. I'm guessing that I'm seeing a JPEG preview then I'm getting what the RAW image looks like? If that is the case, is there anyway to get that preview color back without exporting as a JPEG?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to open a Lightroom catalog that I have on a back up hard drive (I have the original files on the back up too). However, when I try to open I get the message "The Lightoom catalog cannot be used because the parent folder 'name' does not allow files to be created within it."
How I can get access to the images without going back to the machine I used to create the catalog?
How do I get the my exposure option back to my + and - keys?
Normally I can quicky change my exposure with the + and - keys, but now it only changes my clarity in stead of my exposure. How can I change it back to my + / - key on the keyboard?
When I work with brush I very often have to move my image verically or horizontally. Therefore I have to find the state where i can use the hand to move my image. This I have done purely using the try & error method. How toswitch between brush and move. Zoom also is a bit problematic for me. I am too stuck to PSE.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have backed up my files on my external hard drive, and then to make space I deleted some of them from my hard drive. Although I added the external files back into Lightroom (ver. 3) none of my Lightroom settings have remained, so all collection information and all development settings have gone. It there any way to get this information back? I have religiously done Lightroom backups but am afraid that if I use one of these back ups I will lose some of my more recent settings, work that I have done since I deleted the files from my hard drive. I am hoping there is some simple way of relinking to retrieve this information. I tried to use 'find missing photos' but couldn't get that to work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently updated from LR3 to LR4. My edit in Photoshop preferences are for a psd.
When I "edit in Photoshop" using LR4, Lightroom immediately creates a "filename-edit.psd" file. With LR3, only when I saved from within PS did it create the new file edit.psd file. I like to keep the option open to use "save as" and save just a jpg if I know this is going to be my final edit and not have a psd. Now if I save as a jpg, I end up with an extra .psd file. Is this a change in LR4 or have I not set something that I had set in LR3?
In the catalog view, is it possible to switch back to a previous folder you were just viewing without having to locate it and click on it? For example, is there something like a back button to return to previous screen?
