I had upgraded from LR2 to LR3 about 6 months ago. It was working great, but the other night I opened LR and it seems like it has gone back to LR2 mode. All my recent work is gone and I have work that I had done in LR2. I even have assignments that I had done last semester, 2011 work. How can I get all my photos back?
Often when I am in LR5 and I decide to use one of my publishing services to publish whatever is in its collection, I can't return to my other photo albums in that catalog without exiting the catalog and then reentering it.
Going back to look for photos in LR is very tedious due to this error. I fully expect this error to occur multiple times while locating a past photo. I have to do it in steps by closing LR often, and reopening it so I don't have to start at the beginning of the search when this error occurs. LR does not write a current position to disk until closed (it should write current), which means it forgets where I was after this error.
My photos are in directories by year/date. Expanding a year to find a photo is like fully expecting this error to occur. My preferred import arrangement is year/date (to minimize the length of any one physical file list based in the way I shoot). I don't know if it's the arrangement, but this errors a LOT. I am on V4.4, and this error has been occurring for as long as I can remember. The product testers are obviously not running into this error since it isn't getting fixed. I don't think they test the left pane very well for the various directory schemes that a user can come up with.
My catalog previews were recently rebuilt. The catalog is around 5gb and contains all my photos. I am using SSDs for the LR user files, catalog, raw cache, and previews. Only the actual photos are on spinners.
How do I export all the photos I imported back to their original folder just as they were, they haven't been modified, adjusted etc. I imported them by mistake.
I have moved and renamed a folder in the external harddrive. Syncing that moved folder in lightroom is not working in bringing back all the photos to Lightroom - Although all the photos exist in that folder as I have confirmed through windows explorer.
Another Option: If I choose "import photos to this folder option" in LR and browse to the source to that folder - the missing photos are shown as shaded back and the import button (bottom right corner) is not highlighted. Therefore I cannot select these missing photos and hence cannot import them to the folder.
When I first got Lightroom I stupidly imported ALL my photos at once from my hard drive-all 7100 of them. Now I would like to send them back to the original places on my hard drive so I can import them in small batches and work on them. How can I do this without losing any images? Can I delete all of them (not to the recycle bin) and then reimport them?
I run an action to prepare my photos for FB, 500px, Photo.net, etc., which reduces image size 960 x ?, 8-bit, sRGB, and 72 dpi. I then sharpen and add copyright info. However, when I use "Save to Web" it reduces the size of the photo and strips metadata for faster loading but reverts back to a 300 dpi resolution.
Just a few days ago I had about twelve folders of photos in my Organizer. Now I have only two folders that have content. When I click on the other ten folders I see this message in the Media Browser, "No media to be displayed."
I have both Adobe Premiere Elements 11 and Photoshop 11 which I got three weeks ago. The only thing new on my computer is the software that came with my Nikon camera - NX2 - a photo storage and photo editing program. My photos are still in my Windows Pictures program.
I used to download photos into the organizer and they would show up in a window that displayed only the current photos being downloaded. I must have done something to change that because now photos go directly to the main organizer window. I have a lot of photos and its getting harder to find them in the mix. how to get that screen back that only displays the newest photos being downloaded at that time?
I copied photo folders from my hard drive to lightroom 4 and edited them but then accidentally removed these folders from lightroom. I then imported these folders again into lightroom but all the edits I made orginally in lightroom don't show up for the individual photo's.
I backed up the Lightroom catalogue regularily. Is there any way I can reattach these edits to their respective photos'. There is lot of photo's involved.
How do I "back-up" my Lightroom license? I'm worried that my computer may crash someday and I will lose the product. How can I be sure this doesn't happen?
I add five photos to a folder in Lightroom 4.3. The photos are in the specified folder in Windows. Import shows the five photos as imported but greyed out and semi-highlighted. Library does not show these five photos. What can I do?
I have my catalog and photos on my D drive. I notice that sometimes photos that I import also appear on my C drive. All I have been able to learn is that there is an option for backing up imports but I cannot find an option to disable this.
I've been working on my macbook pro for years now exporting files from LR into PS, doing my edits, then saving and having the file automatically import back into LR.
I just upgraded to an iMac and have everything set up, but, now, when I do the EXACT same process, I recieve the error "Could not save as "IMG_1445.tif" because write access was not granted." when trying to save my file in Photoshop.
If it has anything to do with it...I also get an error before exporting from LR: "This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw Plug-in version 7.4 for full compatibility"
when I go to quit LR and backup the catalog I am getting a message that reads "Lightroom was unable to back up the catalog named .... Please check your folder permissions, and make sure that you have available space on your backup drive and main catalog's drive." I backed up the catalog as recently as 11/12 (it is 11/16) without incident, as I have been doing for my catalog for many years. The drive to which I back up and which has the main catalog has sufficient space to backup. Folder permissions all seem to be in order. I have tried to backup on 3 different drives and get the same message each time. I have a Mac Pro Tower running OS 10.7.5. I am using LR 4.4.
I was working on a Picture, when I realized that something is missing. Now I figured out whats wrong.I am missing the "Done" button while croping a photo and the compare button ( Y | X ). I don't know how to describe it better but I hope you can see what my problem is. I have no clue how to get the bar back to my user interface
I wanted to create a new calander for 2014, so I created a new catalog and started to import 25 images which were in my library in various folders. once I was done with the selections I could see that there are several catalogs set up from each folder of origin. if I click on library to get out of the "catalog" mode nothing happens. I can no longer see any of my library folders on the left panel, unless I try to import more images.
How do I delete or cancel this request to add a catalog and get back to my original library? also, in hind sight, I believe I wanted to add a "collection". please confirm the difference between a collection, smart collection and a catalog.
So last week I shot a wedding. I just imported pictures from my computer and have been working on them. Tonight I sit down to edit and was going to delete another catalog not thinking and deleted all of my pictures including my wedding folders. Those had thousands of files most of which I had already edited. They went to my Recycle Bin so I do still have them but now they are not edited. Is there ANY way of getting what I had edited back?
I am using LR 4.2 and I have a question about the non-destructive editor, specifically the use of adjustment brushes. After I work with an adjustment brush and then go on with my editing I can't figure out how to make tweaks to what was darn earlier on the adjustment brush area. With all the other editing functions I can change something and then later make a change. For example, I can set -10 highlights and then later I can change it to -15 highlights and then later change it to something else. With things I have done with adjustment brushes though I haven't figured out the technique to do that. If I select adjustment brush and then click on the area that I had earlier changed with an adjustment brush it doesn't seem to reselect that area so that I can tweak it. Is there a way to go back and tweak areas selected with an adjustment brush?
i converted 1,900 images to dng from raw in lightroom to make shure the 2 weeks 62 hours of work croping & adjusting to be perfect to give bride & groom would be saved but there is no adjustments to them when i open photos where are all my adjustments. find xmp sidecar.
I have signed up for CC. If I import my LR4 catalog into LR5 and 6 months down the line decide to cancel the cloud and go back to LR4, can I import the LR5 catalog back into LR4?
I am not sure when they disappeared sometime between updating from LR 3 to LR4 or sometime shortly after upgrading to LR4. I have a ton of catalog backups but not sure what to do. how to get the missing keywords back?
My daughter turned off my MAC mid-session edit and now I can't load any pictures from any session let alone that session I was working on. I even tried to close out and back up and it won't back up the catalog..way to get my images back.
Usually when I import photos into Lightroom I do not right away make a copy to an external drive. So then when I want to update my backup folder on that drive at a later date, I find myself running into the issue of not knowing which photos need to be added to the drive and which are already on it. Is there an easy way to keep the Lighroom folder in sync with an external hard drive so that there are no gaps in images and so that the folder hierarchy is the same both on my computer and backup drive without actually deleting and reinstalling the entire Lighroom folder all over again which would take forever? Basically what is your backup workflow and how do you keep track of everything?
Also is there a way to backup during import so that the images are categorized by year/month (just like in the Lightroom catalog) on the external drive, because usually it just creates a new folder and I have to drag the images into their appropriate folders after the fact.
I just installed Lr3 (was using 2.7) and CS5 (was using CS3). From Lr I took an image to retouch in CS5 and when it came back to Lr it looked terrible - the exposure had changed at least a stop and I did not do that in PS. I loved how I had Lr2 set up and I have lost it all. In Lr2 the edited image would automaticaalycome back with a T (for tweaked) added to the name and look like it did when it left PS.
