VideoStudio :: Jerky Video Output From X3?
Nov 14, 2010Using a Canon Powershot G12 camera and it records 1280x720 px .mov, H.264, 23.976 fps.
Doesn't matter how my project properties are in Videostudio Pro X3. Think I tried almost everything. As soon as I create a video through VS Pro X3 (all update patches installed) the result is a jerky video. Using the recommended (by Corel) version of Quicktime, as the most recent Quicktime version causes VS to crash. Tried this on 3 different computers with the same result.
Project settings:
TV standard: 24 fps
Frame rate 23.976 fps
Frame Type: Frame based
Frame size: 1280x720 px
Compression: Doesn't matter (same result anyway)

- Upload to YouTube (MPEG-4 HD 16:9) = Jerky video

VideoStudio :: Rendered Video Displays Jerky Frames?
Aug 24, 2011I have a number of video files captured at 1080X720 full frame resolution at 29.97 frames/second, shown on my PC as .MOV files.
When watching the original files either on my PC or TV, movement is fluid and smooth.
When watching a finished video created via VideoStudio Pro X4 using the aforementioned files, movement is jerky, and is particularly noticeable when watching a panned scene. The effect is so bad that it makes viewing on a large screen impossible as the picture movement jerks/judders about. I have looked at the project preferences, and notice under Project Option>General tab, the only available frame sizes are the standard ones which only go up to 720X576. The radio button to select a user defined frame size is greyed out and cannot be selected to input my own frame sizes. I’m therefore unable to actually input the frame size of the source video files.
Basically how do I render a finished video without jerky movement?
VideoStudio :: Choppy / Jerky And Jumpy Video In Edit X5
Jun 24, 2012I’ve been using very happily been using x2 for a number of years to make a lot of movies from my standard definition camera, I’ve loved the programme, and it has generally been able to do everything I wanted, and made for an enjoyable editing process. However, the camera has finally given up and I’m now going down the HD route, and the old x2 version just keeps crashing with any new clips. So I have recently downloaded the trial version of x5 (5 days of trial left), with the intention of trying it out and then purchasing it.
Unfortunately however I have found it to be jerky and jumpy when editing clips together, particularly when using the overlay tracks, the more overlays the worse it gets. This happens when I want to watch the edit, and while the sound runs ok the video just freezes on a frame then jumps ahead a few seconds and freezes etc etc. Impossible to watch and edit to really.
I am using the smart proxy to get the files to a manageable size, and I can see the separate proxy files in explorer. Smart proxy enabled. I have all the acceleration on that can go on (the ”Enable Hardware Encoder Acceleration” is greyed out so I can’t tick it). When I share/render the movie it comes out just fine, so it’s only with the editing process that is jumpy. I have really enjoyed x2, and could get good results really quickly, and I enjoyed the editing interface and process with Corel VS, but am now thinking I might need to change to a different video editing programme.

VideoStudio :: Editing 3D Video In X5 (SP2)?
Mar 28, 2013Can it actually be done? If I so much as drop 3D file onto the timeline and tag it as 3D (SBS L-R in my case), I get the "... lost 3D attributes..." message when I try to create a 3D file. I tried tagging a 2D file as 3D for S&Gs and got the same result. In case it matters, the files are in .avi format (and even rendering a 2D version of these makes a jumpy video, but I digress...).

Nov 27, 2010I'm new to video editing and am using video studio Pro X3, everytime I edit some video or want to use a clip. The trimmed video always flashes the first frame at the start and finish of the trimmed clip. Also when I add a subtitle or text in the time line, that first frame flashes by at the beginning and end of of the text. This is very annoying and doesn't look very good in the project. How can I remove this first frame and how do I prevent it in the first place??

Nov 3, 2011I am using Video Studio x2 and I am trying to edit video from my HD camcorder. The video that I am trying to edit is in MPEG4 format and at a rate of 30fps at 1280x720. I have tried to change the properties within Videostudio but when I try to watch it or do anything else, the programme crashes and I have to start again. In the past I have to down grade the format to DVD, and then it works, but at a cost. Does VSx2 support this format or do I have to upgrade the programme to support HD editing? I am using a Laptop with a intel core 2 prossessor and a 1024mb Nvidia Geforce graphic card, which I feel should be enough.

Oct 14, 2010I upgraded to X3 and it will happily load 1920 x 1080 @ 50p x264/AVC files from a Pan HDC-HS700 just fine (and reports the details correctly but as PAL HDMV). As I play these back in native form on my HTPC (and they look stunning) I just want to EDIT them, then smart render them out in the same format.
This is where I seem to come unstuck, as if I choose "Create Video FIle --> Same as First Video Clip", X3 wants to pump it out as PAL, MPEG 720 x 576 @25fps! I can also not find or create a template that matches the specs of the format.
So
1) Can X3 handle 1920 x 1080 @ 50p x264/AVC out of the box
2) Is there a "tweak" like old versions where you can expose additional CODEC settings to handle 1920 x 1080 @ 50p x264/AVC
3) ....if not what alternative software does work with 1920 x 1080 @ 50p x264/AVC (as Pana's bundled HD Writer is very limited)
VideoStudio :: Video Stutter During Editing
Apr 11, 2012While using X3, on a Vista 32 bit, 2.1 ghz dual core, 3gb ram, a 7600GT card -- while editing HD video, I get a lot stuttering during playback in edit mode -- often the sound stumbles too, all of which makes it hard to see how my work is progressing.
Checking the task manager, the memory is only about 50% used and processor doesn't appear taxed, so question is, why is this happening and what can I do about it.
VideoStudio :: Can't Delete Video Files After Editing
Sep 20, 2011probably isn't an X4 issue exactly, but when i'm done editing a video file in X4, i'll close the file and insert the next video file to edit. when i go into windows explorer to delete the first file i just finished editing, it won't let me delete it because it says it's currently in use. How to delete it without having to close down X4 to do so?

Dec 16, 2010I have Windows 7 and every time I put a song in the project and play it, no sound comes along. It just stays still and after a few seconds goes to the end of the sound file.
Also, whenever I edit a video that has sound, when I play the project, the sound comes all wrong in the part of the edited video. If I did nothing in other videos of the same project, the sound comes good from them. It happens with x2 and with x3.
VideoStudio :: Sync Audio / Video During Editing
Dec 29, 2010I am using VS 10 and I have successfully captured all the video needed for this project (DV format). My project is an interview where I used 2 cameras during the recording session. On one camera I used a microphone and I want to use that audio throughout the project for consistency. At the beginning of the session I recorded a timer from my laptop screen to better sync the video during editing.
I placed one camera video on the video track and the other on the overlay #1 track. I moved the overlay clip so it matched the frame of the timer on the video track. The 2 tracks synched up perfectly. How to cut back and forth from the second camera. I extracted the video track audio to the audio track thinking I could just cut the video track and the overlay track and slide the overlay track up to the video track. But, it won’t let me cut the overlay track. By the way, while not an expert,I am also not a first time user with the software as I have made a number of projects over the years.

Just bought a Panasonic Lumix DMC-Zs7 wich shoots AVCHS Lite HD video and a lesser quality .MOV files as well. I wanna know if Prox3 can deal with these before I upgrade!! I have Prox2 right now.
VideoStudio :: Poor Quality Result From Editing HD Video
Nov 8, 2012I am trying to produce a DVD for private use only from a recording of a free-to-air TV one-off program. The program was recorded by my PVR set-top box that we use to convert the digital (HD, I *think*!) signal for our old analog TVs.
After quite a lot of work - due more to my lack of expertise than anyhting else - I have a VideoStudio project that seems to play quite nicely on the PC.
However, when I burn a DVD, the result is very jerky and flickery - to me, it seems as if the frame speed is too slow.
On one attempt, I noticed that the final .VOB file was only about 2GB - 51 minutes of video - and I decided to try increasing the video bitrate (I think that's what it was). The new .VOB file was a little over 4GB, so I expected the quality to be better.
Not so! In fact (without being able to play the two DVDs at the same time) I think it might be even worse at the higher bitrate.

What would be the best format to retain quality when I render as a file and then copy onto a USB stick to play on my Bluray player? My player seems able to read most formats.

Mar 21, 2012I just downloaded the trial version of this software (Video Studio X5 Pro) to try it before I buy it. I am importing RAW and AVI footage capture from a program called DXtory. I am recording those videos with three audio tracks, one track covers the sound of the video game being played, one track covers my microphone input, and the last track covers the sound that comes through my teamspeak server.
When I import a video into Corel am I able to separately edit each audio track? IE change the volume of one input but not the other?

When I go into block editor, edit the block then close it out. My cursor is really jerky in model space. Especially bad when I go into a command and try to select something. The only way to get rid of the jerkiness is to close auto cad and restart it. Is there anyway to cure this?
I have 2010 and am experiencing this exact same problem. It is intermittent and will sometimes 'go away' after a few minutes. Block editing is definitely related as a cause. I use SDI = 1 predominantly and it seems to be session independent. In other words one drawing session is experiencing the problem but jumping to another concurrent session exhibits no issues.
Task manager shows off the chart 99% plus on process ACAD when it is occurring.
Palette transparency is off globally. I have installed the latest NVidia driver for my Quadro NVS 285 video card. I am running a 3GHz P4 with 4 Gigabytes of ram - Dell Precision 380 workstation. Block Editor background color is default.
Restarting AutoCAD does make it go away - for the moment - but it is soon back. Even closing all tool palettes has no effect.
This does seem to be drawing specific - 2010 seems to be sensitive to something in older drawing blocks - prototype drawings from hotel vendors for instance - most likely inherited from a third party DXF process exhibit the issue heavily - and blocks from these drawings to a lesser degree. I have to constantly purge, audit, and wblock/replace my drawings to keep them clean. My default file type is 2010 which 'seems' to work, but it still happens. Audits show constant drawing errors cropping up, and repeating an audit, shows the same errors until a wblock replace is performed.

Apr 11, 2011I am importing some .avi files and burning to a disc. Most of the .avi clips are fine on the DVD, but two that have panning sequences are very jerky. I checked the source .avi files and they pan smoothly.
I've explored changing the Speed to Quality slider and also the Frame Type (Upper/Lower field first) setting to no avail.

VideoStudio :: Clips Are Jerky Within Project
Jun 4, 2012I just created a project with many different clips. Some of them play perfectly while others are jerky in playback. The original videos were imported to Correl from video files downloaded from the internet. Some of them are MPEG and others are AVI. It seems that the MPEG files play fine while the AVI files are slow. Not sure why this is since I created another very similar project and the AVI files in that project played back fine.

Dec 13, 2012Not had this before, just put a couple of minutes clip into the timeline ready to edit and when I play through it, the video is jerky/jittery on playback. If I click on it in the library and play it without pulling it in to the timeline, it is fine, and if I click on the video without opening the programme, it also plays fine ? If you watch the timeline scrubber as the video jerks, you can see a trail of little white shadows that the scubber leaves behind as it stutters ? I have tried with other clips and it does exactly the same ! The clip is AVCHD clip, and.... I have let it create a smart proxy file before playing it.

Nov 15, 2010I am using a trial version of Videostudio Pro X3 and am experiencing some difficulty producing good quality DVD's & video files (via share->Create Video File).
My original video has been captured from an 8mm camcorder and is good quality. The file type is MPEG-2 TS Video & is 2.2GB.
If I import it into the timeline, select Share->Create Video File->Custom and set the video data rate to 8000kps
my resulting mpg file has overall good quality but there are some very jerky movements and pixelation.
These are not present in the original mpeg-2 file. I get a similarly poor result if I select Share->Create Disc which starts up DVD Factory and burn a disc
However, if I have nothing in my timeline and select Share->Create Disc which starts up DVD Factory, add media, selecting my MPEG-2 TS Video file and then burn a disc. The resulting disc is excellent quality with no jerky movements or pixelation.
However, this isn't much use to me because I want to edit my video but seems to prove that something strange is happening in VideoStudio Pro X3 or my use of it.

What i've done is put the same clip together twice, as strangely the first clip is smooth, then subsequent clips are all jerky. This has been going on for some time, so switched to 25fps. 25fps from my Canon 5D MKII wasn't as good as 24fps, so switched back and decided to try and sort this out.
I have been through multiple settings, deleted all older versions of Corel, removed then re-installed X5, made sure all patches and updates were installed - made no difference.
VideoStudio :: Clip Is Jerky But Project Is Smooth?
Jun 4, 2012I'm wondering if it is normal for my clips to have jerky preview. I am editing 1080p MOV clips and I've made sure that Smart Proxy is enabled and that the files do exist. Smart Proxy settings are default to activate with any clip that is larger than 720X480. After I've dragged a clip onto the timeline I get jerky preview if I select "clip" and then click play. But if I select "project" it plays smoothly. Scrubbing is also smooth. My question is why are my clips so jerky? It seems that "clip" preview is automatically using the original video file and not the proxy. I'm on a slow computer, but that's not the issue because everything except the individual clips plays smoothly. And yes, the Smart Proxy icon is on my clips and it's had plenty of time to complete the proxy creation. I've even completely removed VS with Revo Uninstaller and reinstalled it. No change.

Apr 17, 2012I've just bought a fluid head tripod and have been practising with it and getting some fairly smooth results. I've been shooting at a resolution of 1920x1080 at 30fps in MPEG4 AVC/H.264. When I watch the video in the LCD display on the video camera or plug my video camera (Sanyo Xacti FH1) into my 40 inch TV the results look smooth. But as soon as I download them onto my computer and watch them in VideoLan or QuickTime, the results are awful. The picture jerks several times a second throughout the panning shots. I have imported some of the clips into VideoStudio Pro X4, and made smart proxies of them and some but not all of them run smoothly but when I create an MP4 HD file in VS4 the results are just once again awfully jerky. My computer is only a couple of months old: AMD Athlon II X4651 Quad Core and Radion HD6700 series graphics card with 4Gb of ROM running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. What I can't understand is why the panning looks so smooth on the camera and on my TV (so it isn't due to the small size of the camera's LCD) but as soon as I download it to the computer it looks so awful. I'm aiming to put up some film clips of archaeological sites in Crete on YouTube and I am due to go round the island shooting video but I can't possibly put results like these on the Internet. What could be causing the difference between what my camera shows and what my computer shows?

Dec 9, 2013In VideoStudio 6, how does one connect the voice track to the video during the editing process?
My specific issue is that I have to go back and edit material sometimes that precedes the voice track I already have laid down, but when the time frame of the material after my new edit I have to go back and drag the voice track to the proper location. I would like to be able to permanently "attach" the voice track to the specific video clip and have it follow that clip as it is moved, time wise, during the editing process.
Is there a means to make this happen?
PS - I realize there is a work around way - just publish each clip and then rebuild the final project but that is NOT what I want to do.
VideoStudio :: Split Single Video File Into Multiple Video Files?
Feb 13, 2011I recently purchased Video Studio Pro X3 - and after going through the knowledge base and product read me, I have been unable to find an answer to the following problem I have:
PROBLEM:
I have a number of videos (HD 1080p) that I have recorded. Each video is on average 50 minutes in length - what I want to do it to be able to do is to slice this video into 10 x 5 minute videos (based on topics discussed in the video), (so essentially clip the video into these segments and edit each one) and then when producing the video file - actually create 10 separate video files (all with editing in place) instead of one single large file.
As far as I have been able to work out, I need to go through the whole file, clip relevant sections, edit them, and then save project. I then need to go trim the saved file 10 times, to extract each time the single 5 minute video I want to create. This is a fairly manual and time consuming process, hence my hope that I can create 10 files based on the clips I have made in the larger 50 minute file in one go.
as I have 30 videos to edit, so looking for ways to save time!

Feb 24, 2011I have a LIVE show recorded and I want to add Video Filters in various places within a single 4 minute video. Do I need to cut up my video to segments to add filters too or can I apply them to different spots in a single video?
