VideoStudio :: No 1080p Saving In Pro X3?
Mar 20, 2011
My Canon HF S21 is set to record at PF25 (i.e 25 fps PROGRESSIVE), and also I choose the highest recording quality : MXP (1920 X 1080, 24 Mbps). When I choose to save the .MTS file here`s what happens :
1. Choosing H.264-MAIN in the Compression tab, the video data rate is limited to 20000 KBps.
2. To have 25 fps (that is, PAL) AND progressive playback, my only choice is to output a file at 1280 X 720. If I choose 1920 X 1080 , AND Frame-based, the Frame Rate drop-down menu becomes greyed out at 30 fps ! Of course, at the Corel VideoStudio tab, I have unticked the "Perform non-sqare pixel rendering", because the source video is made of raster (i.e square) pixels, unlike the HDV 1440 X 1080 recordings.
3. Choosing MPEG-4 HD, the Properties of the video file to be rendered appear as follows :
24bits, 1920 X 1080, 30fps
Frame Based
H.264 Main Profile video, 15000 Kbps
32000 Hz, 16bit, stereo
MPEG AAC Audio, 128Kbps
4. No luck either if I choose Blu ray > PAL H.264 (1920 X1080). The "improvement" appears to be the VBRof 22700 Kbps, but VideoStudio insists on rendering interlaced (Upper Field first) out of my progressive video. The same rendering settings appear if I choose AVCHD > PAL HD-1920. I shall try the Template Manager and see if I can convince VS NOT to alter in any way the quality of the source clip. Meanwhile, I am very interested to read about your experiences with 1080p.

I was working for a while with VideoStudio ProX5 and I'm trying the demo version of VideoStudio ProX6 and I've got some issue...
First, my video files are .MOV from my Nikon D3100. 1920X1080 24FPS H.264/MPEG-4 Advanced Video Coding.
My computer: HP Laptop DV6 Intel Core i3 350M @ 2.27GHz. 8GB of memory. ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470. On Win7 Family Premium 64bits.
So it's a car video, cars are at street speed or lower and you can clearly see the sag of the cars. I've try different output (.avi, .mp4, .mts etc... ) from custom to the one included in the program and still sag like crazy.

I want to "remaster" my old travel movies (made with Ulead then) to VSX5 Bluray movies. I still have the old VSP file ; the photos taken with an old camera then had high enough resolution but my videos were at 240 lines then. I know that VSX5 upscales automatically to Bluray at rendering phase but what is the best way to enhance my videos to 1080 ; if done prior to rendering, will it yield a better quality movie (and if so, how do I do that ?) or do I have to leave it to VSX5 rendering phase as the only/best process . My 240 videos look ok at 240 but are currently "pixelly" when I view them on my current hdmi PC monitor at native 1080 ?

I use a SLR to capture video and do this at Full HD @ 50 fps. It's crucial that I keep this quality throughout the project.
But I have not been able to find ANY export option/file format that exports at 1080p/50fps! Is it really possible that VS X5 does not support this?

I have VS Pro X5. My footage is shot at 1920 x 1080p with 25 fps and I would like to produce mpeg4 video file with same parameters. I select custom settings, mpeg-4, H.264 high, frame size 1920 x 1080, but then fps is set to 30 and it is greyed out. Is this the limitation of VS? Is there any way to produce high quality HD with 25 fps?

I currently have X5 and am wanting to burn my 1080P footage to a blu ray disc. However the settings when I select 'create disc' only allow upper or lower field, and not frame based. Does X6 have the capability to create a disc at 1080P, is it worth purchasing? Or does it even matter if I output to upper field first (quality-wise)?

I am trying out video editing for the first time and I am trying out the VideoStudio Pro X5 Ultimate.
But each time I drag a MOV file from my Phone into the program it doesn't display the video. I can hear the Audio but the picture is blank. I have Re-installed Quicktime but I still get the same problem.

When outputting as an MP4 file, the result is SO ugly, it almost completely destroys any fine detail in the image, and the sound is total garbage (it sounds like a 22k 64kbps mp3, just utter crap), so MP4 is just not an option for me.
Unfortunately, as it has been brought to my attention, Corel doesn't seem to truly support 60fps, even though most new cameras film in 60fps--so when I use the modes that are supposed to be for 60fps, it flipflops back and forth between 30fps and 60fps. I just want an output that's consistent, not this flipflopping garbage. There's ONE mode I can use, AVCHD, that gives me a consistent framerate AS LONG AS I don't put any titles up, and as long as none of the source material is of a resolution different from the main--otherwise it will look like a glitched mess.
Since they've crippled being able to adjust the project properties outside anything DVD quality, I can't really adjust anything.
Is there an output mode that will give me a consistent 30fps that supports 1080p?

I use VSX3 to edit down .mov files created with a contour HD helmet camera. I have been using a 720p version of the helmet camera and have had no issues with editing (other than the ocasional C++ runtime errors and the VSX3 program crashing randomly which just seems to be a Corel programming issue) Recently I got to use a 1080p contour HD helmet camera and have problems editing the files in VSX3. In the preview window in the edit screen the 1080p file plays fine. But when I try to trim the file down using the "multi-trim video" function the file is very jittery, takes a long time to load and the sound is in and out, almost like the program can't handle a 1080p file for editing. The "mult-trim video" works fine for the 720p videos.

I have VSP X4 Ultimate and a Panasonic TM900K. I have been recording mostly in 1080p for the best quality, but I have notice when compared to VLC or another editor, the preview window's quality is very poor. On my 1080P monitor it looks no better than a DVD. This, in of itself, is not a big issue, but it does make it hard to use VSP X4 to do fine video corrections.
The one that is is when I play down-converted videos from VSP X4 (To 7Kbps DVD) the quality is visibly worse than with my other editor. I have been testing on my playstation (just playing the mpeg 2 files via my media server) (the PS3 is set not to up-convert). When I try to do the same thing on my computer using VLC I do not see much of a difference, but VLC is doing a lot to render on the PC (de-interlacing and all).

I have been having this issue for a few days now, I set up my scene, uses mr sun and sky, told 3ds to render using mental ray and set in going as avi video. I look at the final render after and 3ds says it rendered in 720p but when I look at it the video is in 480p and in very bad quality.

I have some questions related to the use of Photoshop for the preparation of images for projectors and presentations.
I've noticed lately that most presentations I seem to attend are presented with images in widescreen format (16:9). I have found some higher resolution projectors available in widescreen format but have some questions.
In case I create my slides with a size of 1920 x 1080, do I need to adjust anything in Photoshop for this ? Using basic mathematics I would imagine that no adjustments would be necessary. After all 1920 x 1080 amounts to a perfect relationship of 16:9. Is this correct ? Should I expect that images projected by a projector with this aspect ratio will contain square pixels and no adjustments are necessary in Photoshop ?
Is there any situation where a pixel is project as a rectangle instead of a square and adjustments to accomodate this need to be made in Photoshop ?

It is taking 6 - 7 hours to render 2 - 6 minute 1080p videos down to 720p. Granted there are about 10 - 15 layers and a bunch of editing... but when I look at the performance monitor during rendering the intire resources used by my computer is around 45% - 50% for memory, processor, and little to no GPU is this normal?
It just seems really wierd to me. I have read the Adobe blog and watched the Learning Videos on the website on how to adjust the performance settings and have 90% of the RAM alocated to Photoshop.

I want to edit 4K source footage inside of a 1080p timeline in order to do alot of shot stabilizing throughout my project with the plug-in "Warp Stabilizer" that is standard inside of Adobe Premiere CC. BUT as soon as I drop the plug-in on my 4K footage that is inside of my 1080 timeline there is an error message that says "Warp Stabilizer requires clip dimensions to match sequence (fix by nesting)".
So I guess the "fix" is to nest my clips first then drop the plug-in on the nested clip. My question is this ... is the plug-in using the true resolution of my 4K clip that has been nested to stabilize my shot? Or is it basically using a 1080 proxy type file of my 4K source footage since it is "nested"?

I have VS11+ and I want to save a frame of my project as a still image. The project and footage is
PAL (25 fps)
Microsoft AVI files
24 bits, 720 x 576, 16:9, 25 fps
Lower Field First
DV Video Encoder -- type 1
DV Audio -- PAL, 48.000 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo
I have clicked on Save as Still Image and the frame appears in the Image folder, although it is square looking with a black border all round. If I put it in the timeline I can make it into 16:9 like the rest of the footage. But where is the image actually saved so that I can use it in other media? How can I decide whether to save it as JPEG or whatever? And why is it in a black box and quite square if it was shot in, and the project is, 16:9? Can I save it as a 16:9 image?

Quite often I have footage from two cams to create a movie. The cams show pretty different video response characteristics. By adjusting WB, Gamma, Contrast...I can correct and match both footages. Because VS has a not so handy parameter setting UI, it would be fine if I could kind of "smart package" the attributes for a particular camcorder, so I don't have to fill in the attributes for each project with a particalar camcorder footage. Is there a way to get there?

I was saving a 20GB video that was 3 hours long. It was taking a day to finish and during the night, my computer crashed. I opened VideoStudio and it let me recover the project but I don't know how to resume saving the video. I look in the hard drive and found the video and it said it was 0 minutes long what is says when it was saving it. This means that there should be a way to resume saving it. Is there a way to that?

Is there not a way to save the progress of your timeline? So far my workflow has me editing every clip in library mode, then transferring it all down to the timeline so I can insert music, titles, transitions, etc.....and due to the size of my project, I wasn't able to finish before leaving tonight. So I saved everything (or so I thought), but when I opened my project later in VS again, there was nothing in the timeline! (it saved all of my edited files above in the library, but all of my work on titles, overlays and music was lost). Did I do something wrong, or does this program force you make all of those detailed edits and additions in one fell swoop without any chance of saving or taking a break?

My question: I prefer to shoot my videos in 720p, to optimally match my TV. I see that in VideoStudio, the only 720p option is by using HDV. Is there any other way to get 1280x720 output? I see that AVCHD and Blu-Ray only offers 1980 and 1440 options, both which resize my videos (which I do not want). I'd like to save back as 1280x720 MP4, but VS's MP4 option doesn't provide this.
(Now that I think about it, why does VideoStudio offer 1440 rather than 1280? I thought 1920x1080 and 1280x720 were the common HD formats.)

I am new to Corel VS having previously used Power Producer/Director and TMPGEncAuthoring software. Have spent the last week customising various DVD menus for use in music DVD compilations. However, I cannot for the life of me work out how to save a customised menu for use in the next and following projects. Have seen the posting "VS PRO X4 fails to save DVD Menu Changes" but it seems to stop short on re-use. Have also ordered the publication "Picture Yourself Creative Corel VideoStudio Pro X4" which arrive next week.

I just spent 20-minutes going through 17-chapter thumbnails settings for a DVD menu of this project only to find none of the changes are saving. I tried repeatedly and the chapter thumbnails always revert to the original values for ALL sub-menus. Does seem to save the main menu thumbnail.
All I do is right-click, select to set the thumbnail, find the place and it works. Just doesn't save when I click to CLOSE the DVD process and come back in, eventhough it says "Saving project"
15.1.0.34 so I think I have all outstanding patches. When I go through the internal process to "check for updates, it says I am up-to-date.
