Revit :: Why Does Sweep Appear In Blue

Oct 9, 2013

I have a frame created as a sweep in a door family - but for some reason it always shows in blue linework, even when not selected. If this is to highlight an error or other issue with the model ?

It seems to have appeared after I deleted the cut opening outline and replaced it with a couple of Void Extrusions (to allow me to control the wrap of the plaster finish and not have it impact on the structural opening size).

The frame does sit within an extrusion void, but it is not selected to cut it.

In the new phase I inserted a larger door that cuts the existing walland the entire infiil from the demolished door, but the base still remains.  How do I get the new door to cut the base that was created as a result of the infill?

Revit :: Creating A Wall Style With Sweep

Feb 13, 2006

I have tried 2 methods of generating a parapet cap:

1 - Creating a wall style with the sweep.

2 - Added a host sweep.

The problem is that using either method or a combination of both methods doesn't always work. I still end up with some caps that don't miter correctly even after editing. Sometimes, different intersections will miter and others won't.

Loaded into the family and used in creating the sweep is a profile family with different RHS size types. Is it possible to change the sweeps profile type using a parameter from within RHS family types?

I assume its not possible (unlike driving a nested component using a family type parameter from within the project.)

Revit :: Three Wall Intersection With Odd Join?

Dec 4, 2013

I have 2 corners between 3 walls, one of which is of an odd construction.  I want the outer layers of the two side walls to meet as they do when trimmed to each other but this creates a bit of angled wall inside the room on the upper left.  I want that corner to look like the left and top walls are trimmed.  The two corners are too far apart for wall join to clean the whole intersection and I can't really move any of these walls.

Here's a video of trimming the walls.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Recognize Revit Features From Sweep With 3D-path

Sep 18, 2013

When preparing an assembly for export to a Revit family, all features need to be recognized as Revit features. I have a part which consists of a sweep with a 3D path, 2 planar sketches projected to a 3D surface to be precise. To make matters worse, it's a sweep whose end meets it's own beginning (the intent of this specific model is to just satisfy a shape, not necessarily reflect the way it's going to be produced). To date I have not found a way to have this sweep feature recognized as a Revit feature, be it as a single feature or multiple. I am running Inventor Professional 2014 on Windows 8 64-bit.

Revit :: Parts Of The Roof Will Not Join To Wall

Oct 18, 2012

I am drawing up my house in Revit to get use to the software. I created my house, and now my garage.  I selected to create a roof by footprint but when I tried to join the roof to the adjacent wall, the overhang does not follow.  I then selected the overhang to join to the adjacent wall but an error pops up: "Part of the roof to be joined misses the target face."

I attached a PDF of the roof. Also, you will notice a line that separates the two walls I joined together.  I may separate them but how do I avoid this if I want to make one solid wall?

As for the wall selection, I have vinyl siding and would like to use properties that relate when selecting my exterior walls.  I do not see anything regarding that besides wood siding.  I thought that should be in my properties when I downloaded and purchased the software.

AutoCad 3D :: Unable To Sweep Object When Attempting Helical Sweep For Pipe Thread

Dec 22, 2012

I am attempting to model an internal 1/8"-27 NPT thread, both the through hole and the tapered part of the hole are modeled, but after I draw the helix and the polygon and orient the polygon to the helix correctly, (or even if I don't, I have tried it) it keeps saying unable to sweep object. I am using Sweep with Alignment with the No option. If I select the polygon first, then click sweep, it works, but rotates the polygon so that what I get ends up looking nothing like a thread profile.

I have tried reducing the polygon radius down to a ridiculously small value, thinking it might have been interference due to a possible trig miscalculation, but with no success, still have the same issue. FYI, I am using a .037" turn height for 27 TPI and a polygon radius of .0214", with a helix small end radius of .177" and large end radius of .189".
