View 7 RepliesRevit 2012 .I have a topo file linked to the main building file.I am trying to render a 3d exterior view of the building (new construction ).I see the linked topography in black lines in my elevations.but not in the 3d view.
The question/ problem unsolved is how to get the site/ ground to be visible as per the linked topography in the 3d view of the main file . All I see is the building in the air , with a very light greyed site in a block form. I would like to see the site in earth: soil material for me to render the exterior view.
We would like to make the transparency of glass-materials visible in views and section-views by using the "realistic style". During a 3d-view our glass-material looks like transparent. Isn't it possible for REVIT to display the transparency of materials in views ?
The workaround to hide "glass" by using "overriding visibility" is not possible for us because some of our families and project families are using glass-materials inside (Showcases f.e.).

I am using the default Revit break lines in a few of my plans, and they work great. But when I insert them into an RCP, the masking region does not mask anything. Tried send to front/back, copying, inserting new. My other masking regions will still work as they are supposed to, but this break line does not.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have created my model, and have placed the floor assembly in. It is concrete and I see the concrete pattern on the floor. How do I hide or turn that off? I cannot find anything in Visibility Graphics or in the actual floor family...
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have some Plumbing "Fixtures" that aren't showing up when the plan is printed. In the view they are visible, but in the print they disappear as if to be covered up by the wall. Unless the "Fixture" is slightly outside of the wall then it will show up. What could be causing this? The fixtures that we're using are simply model lines that form a circle since they're only there to hold a place in a schedule for its info.
So as you can see the dots are visible but when I go to print they disappear...
I am used to searching for Elements by using their IDs, however in editing a door family I have been stumped by a dialogue, herewith:
The unusual thing with this is that this dialogue is always followed by another stating that 'No good view could be found', whatever view I try to look for them in! Having opened every view in the family and done a search I am wondering what next to do?
I am exporting gbXML file from Revit Architecture 2013. And I am looking at the format of the name of the surface element. According to the Autodesk wikihelp, I understand that it is composed in a form as : orientation-space-(other space)-exposure-type-sequence number-(opening type)
It means if the surface is an interior wall surface, there will be two adjacent space names recored here. such as N-101-102-E-W-D-84
But I notice that in my gbXML file, I have some terms like : B-2-2-I-F-10, B-2-2-I-F-16, X-1-1-I-O-6, and X-1-1-I-O-15, I notice that when the orientation is "Bottom" or it is a type of "air", the space names will repeated twice.
(Can't edit the element until 'A' resaves the element to central and relinquishes it and you Reload Latest.).this note come when i try to modify or erase any element in revit file and i want to know why does this proplem occur ? and how can i resolve this proplem becouse ineed this file.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a project incorporating field inspections into a Revit model. I have a model built, and I'm trying to export information regarding each structural element (family, type & instance, dimensions, etc) into an 'inspection sheet' (excel spreadsheet or text file). After the field inspection, my goal is to update the Revit model with inspection results. For example, damage to a beam might include a reduced cross sectional area/reduced moment of inertia.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow do I apply a Project Parameter (not Shared Parameter) that I created in Manage> Settings > Project Parameters to an existing element.
Following the instructions under Creating a Project Parameter in WikiHelp for Revit 2013, I created a Project Parameter called "Equipment ID" (common, text, text) in Manage> Settings > Project Parameters. In the process I clicked the Modify button and assigned it to all Categories by checking all boxes. However, when I opened the family editor for a piece of electrical equipment, selected an element (an extrusion), and then went into the Family Types dialog and clicked Add Parameter, it did not give me the option of adding Project Parameters, only Shared Parameters.
WikiHelp, under "Project Parameters", states "Project parameters are parameters you define and then add to multiple categories of elements in a project", but does not say how to "add" them to the element and doesn't direct me to another section that dose.
Is it possible to show the exterior walls at a different detail level than the interior walls in the same view? Keep in mind they are all apart of the basic wall system family so there is no editing the family visibility at this point.
View 1 Replies View RelatedProblem: in order to get Revit Mep to calculate roofs in the heatload calculation I the floor I used need to be a roof.
Revit MEP does not calculate any roof area since in my model I used floors to finish a level. Which i architurally correct. But partially it's also a roof. Revit Mep does not use the floor as a roof. So what i want to do is to redefine a complex floor with lots of curved sides etc. into a roof.
The question is: is it possible to just tell revit somehow to change the categorie of the element to roof? or do I have to redraw the whole floor as a flat roof?
error: Can't obtain permission to edit the element: The Central Model is inaccessible. You can check out worksets at risk, but consider carefully!thats what it says i took the file of my the drive but cant edit it.

this sounds nice but the Beams are not an option in the filter tool...
where are the beams in the filter tool?

I’m Photoshop self-taught. Most of the work I do on Photoshop involves placing elements (objects, people, animals, etc.) into regular and stock photos. Down below is a list of the tools and filters I use to adjust the element(s) so they look like they are a real part of the picture.I can get real close. Real close. But I can’t quite bring it home. I feel there’s some tool(s) or trick(s) or filter(s) I’m not using. I can’t find anything online or in Photoshop books or manuals.

I followed this tutorial to create 3D Christmas lights, and all was going well until I reached one of the final steps- release clipping mask in order to proceed with making a pattern brush. The "Release" option is simply not available, I'm only allowed to "Make."
My questions:
- What might have I missed/what should I look for to enable making a pattern brush with 3d objects?
I've utilized the Plywood-Section detail component out of the Imperial
Library, and it runs left-to-right, no matter the orientation of the element I drew. Messing with the Fill Pattern settings, it looks identical if I set the Plywood-Align pattern to "Align to Element", or "Orient to View". Nothing changes.
Is the attached possible? I'm trying to cut out the plaster wrap to a wall, but can't figure out how to do it.
I've had a look at using reference planes in the door family object, but they don't seem to be able to do this?
Simply checking the wall type to wrap at only the external insert isn't going to work as I want the recess in the plaster to be away from the door frame edge.
Is it possible to use something like a parameter that would allow you to enter a width in the element properties window of the selected wall(s)?
we would like to have a generic wall (outline only) that the width can be changed per wall for layout purposes, then the walls will be selected & changed later to an actual wall with known materials.
With a RGB or CYMK no problem for me to have certain element in the picture distinguishing from the rest. But now I have to do the same building up in duotone (2 PMS colours). It looks like Photoshop doesn't allow to put a black&white layer into a duotone document (it automatically turns into the 2 duotone colours).
So how can i make a duotone image (source = FC) in which a part looks "black and white" (1 colour=black) and a part "lights up" in the second colour (2 colour= yellow)?
- so I know how to make a duotone image, that's not the problem
- i know how to work with layers and masks
(i try to upload the image.. but server seems very busy...)
Why isn’t my DWG link from one RVT visible when I link it into another? I.E. I link my site dwg into my Arch central and want the Site to be visible when I link the Arch into other files. I want the Arch to hold the Site link but be able to see the site when the arch in linked into other models. I could have sworn I have done this in the past but can’t get it to work now for some reason.

I can't figure out why the bas is visible through the floor :s while the middle part is not. The part where you can see the color of the stairs is cut out of the floor.
The bread shaped object is a structural concrete column with two corners rounded.
Why can I see the new wall's lines ghosted through a structural column?

I load my .cuix file into Autocad 2013 using VB.Net:
Dim mg As ObjectTry mg = Application.MenuGroups.Item(cuiName)Catch ex As System.Exception mg = Application.MenuGroups.Load(cuiFile)End Try
File loading sucsessfuly, but my menu is invisible.
I tried do this, but got an error..
Dim i As Integer For i = 0 To mg.Menus.count - 1 mg.Menus.Item(i).Visible = True Next
How to make menu visible?
I am fairly new to more than the basic elements of photoshop. I am using 'Actions' to create a e-book cover and had my design created but when I pressed finalise iget the error box - The command Merge Visible is not available with two boxes continue or stop Clicking on either box produces no results.
My query how do I cure this please, I also notice that in the layer detail menu all but the background layer have disappeared. I have taken back steps and re-entered layers with the same result. Forgive my ignorance I am a silver haired surfer who was told it was easy to create e-book covers in photoshop.
So whenever I open up Gimp and then a new image, the layer for the background don't show up. > [URL]..
I've this window with all the tabs for the brushes, patterns etc and when I want to make the layers visible, I've to drag the layers window to the tabs and then drag it back to where it first was.. (it's quite hard to explain )
[URL]....
so basically, the layers don't show unless i do something what can i do about this?
Basically, I'm trying to make simple animations. For some reason, I can't figure out how to make any layer but the top visible. Is there any way to essentially make the layers have a visible/invisible function? I'm not talking about the eye button next to the layer name.
