Revit :: Error / Can't Obtain Permission To Edit The Element
Apr 17, 2012
error: Can't obtain permission to edit the element: The Central Model is inaccessible. You can check out worksets at risk, but consider carefully!thats what it says i took the file of my the drive but cant edit it.
I would like to know about the permission needed to edit the autocad file. In my folder there are many autocad files. I need to give the edit permission to one particual file to a specific user.
First i tried with folder level security. But i failed.
1. I have given full permission for the particular user (Except: Delete,Write Attribute) in the folder level. But when i tried to open the drawing file, it throws an error. Error: "File is currently using by the user1. Would you like to open the file read-only?"
2. I have given full permission for the particular user (Except: Delete) in the folder level. Now i could open the file successfully. But after editing, when i tried to save the document, it throws an error: Error: "Unable to save to drawing D:TestTest.dwg as it is being accessed by another session. Drawing saved to "D:Testsav460B.tmp"
3. Now i have given full permission for the particular user including Delete permission in the folder level. Now i could save the drawing succesfully after editing.
From this , i guess, it needs delete permission in the folder level to edit and save the drawing (I understood this is for creating/deleting tmp/.bak files during saving the document.). But giving delete permission in the folder level is very risky.
I'm using PS5.1. When I try to Save for Web & Devices I'm getting write permission errors. I haven't used this application for over a year, but it used to work fine.I also used the Mac Disk Utility to Repair Permissions.
Have created a roof with a gable on each end. Edit roof footprint to change the two gable end roof slopes to a hip roof. When I finish the edit, I get a "Can't keep wall & target joined" error message...which affect all sides of the roof. I have done this many times before without ever getting this error message.
The roof being edited is on the two-story portion. There is a gable roof on a lower level on one side.
Trying to import images from my camera - Canon T3i. Using both the SD card plugged into a reader and camera with full battery plugged in USB gets the error "Cannot obtain all files from this device. Please ensure that the devices is connected properly, or that the battery is charged. The files that have been obtained till now will be sent to Elements Organizer." All updates installed, running on Vista x64, Elements 10.
I am used to searching for Elements by using their IDs, however in editing a door family I have been stumped by a dialogue, herewith:
The unusual thing with this is that this dialogue is always followed by another stating that 'No good view could be found', whatever view I try to look for them in! Having opened every view in the family and done a search I am wondering what next to do?
i gotta problem wit 'Element 3D v1.6'window version. when im animated E3D and then trynna 'Ram preview' in that case.i gotta error message like below,'element has encountered an unrecoverable error' 'after effect warning: a frame failed to render while using render multiple frames simultaneously. allocating more memory to the background processes in Memory & Multiprocessing preferences may fix this problem.'
but im did it everythin in M&M preference and this error only Rampreviewing wit E3D, anything is cool. My issue is Few days ago Upgrade VGA card n Driver and Element3D v1.6 update.
I am exporting gbXML file from Revit Architecture 2013. And I am looking at the format of the name of the surface element. According to the Autodesk wikihelp, I understand that it is composed in a form as : orientation-space-(other space)-exposure-type-sequence number-(opening type)
It means if the surface is an interior wall surface, there will be two adjacent space names recored here. such as N-101-102-E-W-D-84
But I notice that in my gbXML file, I have some terms like : B-2-2-I-F-10, B-2-2-I-F-16, X-1-1-I-O-6, and X-1-1-I-O-15, I notice that when the orientation is "Bottom" or it is a type of "air", the space names will repeated twice.
(Can't edit the element until 'A' resaves the element to central and relinquishes it and you Reload Latest.).this note come when i try to modify or erase any element in revit file and i want to know why does this proplem occur ? and how can i resolve this proplem becouse ineed this file.
I have an error that started appearing in my VBA programs since we upgraded to AutoCAD 2012. This problem never occured in our previous releases. The program is supposed to loop through all entities in paperspace and check for entities that are a acBlockReference object.
Below is a simplified version of my program. I get an Element Not Found error on the line noted. Again, this has never happened in any of our previous versions of AutoCAD. Just started with 2012.
Sub Test Dim blkref As AcadBlockReference Dim entry As Variant For Each entry In ThisDrawing.PaperSpace If entry.EntityType = acBlockReference Then ' <-This is where the Element Not Found error occurs msgbox entry.name endif next end sub
Why can't I rename a shader? I am following a Gnomon eye tutorial and when I rename a blinn, lambert or any other shader/material this pops up Error: Could not find UI element named "". After the error I can't access the hardware texture rollout on the shader. Its happened with all maya versions since 2009 with different PC's, the graphics cards I have used are gaming cards both nvidia/ati at the moment its a 460gtx could that be the problem, do I need a Quadro card.
I'm working on a project incorporating field inspections into a Revit model. I have a model built, and I'm trying to export information regarding each structural element (family, type & instance, dimensions, etc) into an 'inspection sheet' (excel spreadsheet or text file). After the field inspection, my goal is to update the Revit model with inspection results. For example, damage to a beam might include a reduced cross sectional area/reduced moment of inertia.
How do I apply a Project Parameter (not Shared Parameter) that I created in Manage> Settings > Project Parameters to an existing element.
Following the instructions under Creating a Project Parameter in WikiHelp for Revit 2013, I created a Project Parameter called "Equipment ID" (common, text, text) in Manage> Settings > Project Parameters. In the process I clicked the Modify button and assigned it to all Categories by checking all boxes. However, when I opened the family editor for a piece of electrical equipment, selected an element (an extrusion), and then went into the Family Types dialog and clicked Add Parameter, it did not give me the option of adding Project Parameters, only Shared Parameters.
WikiHelp, under "Project Parameters", states "Project parameters are parameters you define and then add to multiple categories of elements in a project", but does not say how to "add" them to the element and doesn't direct me to another section that dose.
Is it possible to show the exterior walls at a different detail level than the interior walls in the same view? Keep in mind they are all apart of the basic wall system family so there is no editing the family visibility at this point.
Problem: in order to get Revit Mep to calculate roofs in the heatload calculation I the floor I used need to be a roof.
Revit MEP does not calculate any roof area since in my model I used floors to finish a level. Which i architurally correct. But partially it's also a roof. Revit Mep does not use the floor as a roof. So what i want to do is to redefine a complex floor with lots of curved sides etc. into a roof.
The question is: is it possible to just tell revit somehow to change the categorie of the element to roof? or do I have to redraw the whole floor as a flat roof?
I am getting an error with a script i have used before without any problems. The script updates the only image at the bottom of a single page PDF and saves the changed PDF in another folder.
It asks me to locate the folder of PDFs to be modified. It asks me to locate the folder where the modified PDFs will be saved. It asks me to select the new image that will be used.It will then update the image and resizes it and save the PDF in the specified folder.
I don't get this error on all PDFs but i get it at least once every 10 PDFs (and there are over a 1,000 PDFs).The error i get is this:
Error 1302:No such elementLine:27-> rip=doc.rasterItems[0].position;
I get this error regardless of whether the script is run in CS3 or CS5.
Additional info.I ran this script in CS3 and it worked. At a later date i ran another script on the folder of modified PDFs in CS5 that deleted any unnessesary elements outside the artboard, it selected All on the Artboard - then inversed the selection - and deleted any selected items followed by save and close.I have tried making sure the "new" image has the same name as the image being replaced but this made no difference.I am using Illustrator on Vista.
Exist a way to Attach the top of the wall in a element that is not a floor or roof. I have a wall under a stair and i want to make de top of the with a slope.
I've utilized the Plywood-Section detail component out of the Imperial
Library, and it runs left-to-right, no matter the orientation of the element I drew. Messing with the Fill Pattern settings, it looks identical if I set the Plywood-Align pattern to "Align to Element", or "Orient to View". Nothing changes.
we've made a part from an assembly and put the stress analysis to the test. Unfortunately the analysis doesn't complete it's run, because of an error:
"An error occurred while creating the finite element mesh. The cause may be invalid geometry or features that are extremely small in comparison to the overall dimensions of the part. To fix the problem, please suppress those problematic features or use standard meshing method."
We can't change the thickness of the sheet-metal, because it's a model which comes from a supplier with a different cad-program. And supressing any features isn't possible, because it's a base-solid.
But where can we change it to the standard meshing methode? The program is recently re-installed on my computer, the settings haven't changed since it's been installed. We can't find the feature.
Is the attached possible? I'm trying to cut out the plaster wrap to a wall, but can't figure out how to do it.
I've had a look at using reference planes in the door family object, but they don't seem to be able to do this?
Simply checking the wall type to wrap at only the external insert isn't going to work as I want the recess in the plaster to be away from the door frame edge.
Is it possible to use something like a parameter that would allow you to enter a width in the element properties window of the selected wall(s)?
we would like to have a generic wall (outline only) that the width can be changed per wall for layout purposes, then the walls will be selected & changed later to an actual wall with known materials.
-No I did NOT uncheck the layers box. -No I did NOT accidently FLATTEN my piece -No I didn't change the color space
why the eff my photoshop has flattened two of my PSD files without my permission.
I work in PSD then when done I hit save. Then File> Save as> PDF then I name my PDFS, do so for my other projects then I close everything. I've had two files already where I have opened the PSDS and they're flattened when I never saved them this way.
I had Photoshop 7.0 installed on an XP that crashed and had to re-built (new hard disk? I don't remember). Anyway I lost all the apps I had, and I'm trying to get PS 7.0 re-installed. I have the original CD complete with the serial number right on the box. But this was an upgrade from PS 6.0, for which I no longer have the CD (if indeed I ever did - for all I can remember it may have been a download). I did remember to keep the serial number from PS6.0. Unfortunately, the install process, when it doesn't find a copy of PS 6.0 on this (wiped clean) hard drive, does not provide me the opportunity to key my PS 6.0 serial number. All I can do in the dialog I'm presented with is press OK and exit.
I recently upgraded to Windows 7, reinstalled InDesign CS5.5. Now when I try to save a previouisly created InDesign document in InDesign I get the message: "You don't have permission to save to this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission." I am the administrator.
I downloaded some patterns and after unzipping couldn't copy them to program files adobe ..... patterns. get message need administrative permission to do this how do I get this permission or is there another way to include these patterns into my cs5.
