Revit :: Applying Project Parameters To Element

Sep 28, 2012

How do I apply a Project Parameter (not Shared Parameter) that I created in Manage> Settings > Project Parameters to an existing element.

Following the instructions under Creating a Project Parameter in WikiHelp for Revit 2013, I created a Project Parameter called "Equipment ID" (common, text, text) in Manage> Settings > Project Parameters. In the process I clicked the Modify button and assigned it to all Categories by checking all boxes. However, when I opened the family editor for a piece of electrical equipment, selected an element (an extrusion), and then went into the Family Types dialog and clicked Add Parameter, it did not give me the option of adding Project Parameters, only Shared Parameters.

WikiHelp, under "Project Parameters", states "Project parameters are parameters you define and then add to multiple categories of elements in a project", but does not say how to "add" them to the element and doesn't direct me to another section that dose.

Revit :: Add Parameters To The Project Information List?

May 17, 2012

Is it possible to add parameters to the project information list? For example I am using the project address parameter in my sheet borders for the full street address of a project. However on the cover sheet the project address is listed as ciry and state only. I know how to create a label parameter for the address on the cover sheet, but I would like to add that label to the project information family to keep all of that information in one place.

Revit :: Project Parameters For Mass Identity Data

Feb 25, 2014

Is this a Revit Hard Code issue or am I overlooking something? I have created some In-Place Masses (with floor mass for each level) and I have created 2 Project Parameters for for the Mass Schedule. Parameters are Block and Sub Block as Text under Identity Data and in the Mass Category. When the Mass Heading is ticked all mass categories are ticked. So Im thinking, it should not matter what type of Mas schedule I setup. The Parameters should be available in the fields.

The Schedule is created as a Mass Schedule. and the Parameters show up in the field and data is populated as I expect.

I want to create a Mass Floor Schedule and the parameters are not showing up in the fields list. Also I can not Add Parameters from the Schedule dialogue window as those Parameters has already been created. When I select the Mass  Floor in a 3D view the Identity Data fields in the Properties window are mostly greyed out. The Project Parameters do not appear as Identity Data fields and the Edit Type is greyed out (not that Edit Type maters but it adds to the thinking process)

Revit :: Searching With Element IDs?

Dec 4, 2012

I am used to searching for Elements by using their IDs, however in editing a door family I have been stumped by a dialogue, herewith:

The unusual thing with this is that this dialogue is always followed by another stating that 'No good view could be found', whatever view I try to look for them in!  Having opened every view in the family and done a search I am wondering what next to do?

Revit :: Format Of Surface Element

Feb 6, 2013

I am exporting gbXML file from Revit Architecture 2013. And I am looking at the format of the name of the surface element. According to the Autodesk wikihelp, I understand that it is composed in a form as : orientation-space-(other space)-exposure-type-sequence number-(opening type)

It means if the surface is an interior wall surface, there will be two adjacent space names recored here. such as N-101-102-E-W-D-84

But I notice that in my gbXML file, I have some terms like :  B-2-2-I-F-10, B-2-2-I-F-16, X-1-1-I-O-6, and  X-1-1-I-O-15,  I notice that when the orientation is "Bottom" or it is a type of "air", the space names will repeated twice.

Revit :: Import / Export Element Information?

I'm working on a project incorporating field inspections into a Revit model.  I have a model built, and I'm trying to export information regarding each structural element (family, type & instance, dimensions, etc)  into an 'inspection sheet' (excel spreadsheet or text file).  After the field inspection, my goal is to update the Revit model with inspection results.  For example, damage to a beam might include a reduced cross sectional area/reduced moment of inertia.

Revit :: How To Change The Category Of The Element To Roof

Aug 22, 2011

Problem: in order to get Revit Mep to calculate roofs in the heatload calculation I the floor I used need to be a roof.

Revit MEP does not calculate any roof area since in my model I used floors to finish a level. Which i architurally correct. But partially it's also a roof. Revit Mep does not use the floor as a roof. So what i want to do is to redefine a complex floor with lots of curved sides etc. into a roof.

The question is: is it possible to just tell revit somehow to change the categorie of the element to roof? or do I have to redraw the whole floor as a flat roof?

Revit :: Door Cutting Out Plaster Wall Wrap Element At Opening

Is the attached possible? I'm trying to cut out the plaster wrap to a wall, but can't figure out how to do it.

I've had a look at using reference planes in the door family object, but they don't seem to be able to do this?

Simply checking the wall type to wrap at only the external insert isn't going to work as I want the recess in the plaster to be away from the door frame edge.

Revit :: Concatenate 2 Parameters Into One

Mar 8, 2013

Is it possible to concatenate 2 parameters into one in Revit.  So I want the door parameters (i.e. Width, height)  to be automatically generated by the family.  I want those two parameters to be joined in one field width x height.  This is what the department wants.

If I can't then I can't.  I know earlier versions of Revit could not concatenate.  This is one example but there re several instances where I want (2) separate fields/ parameters to report into one field that can then be used fro a schedule.

Revit :: 2012 Freezes And Crashes When Applying Materials To Wall Types?

Jun 23, 2012

This is the first time I experience a major problem with Revit 2012. I created a duplicate of an 8" concrete masonry wall for my student project. Then I selected the Edit option in the Structure to change the rendered material to concrete masonry. Suddenly the program freezes and crashes. A window pops up stating that Windows has detected a problem with Revit and must shut the program down. I've everything since my last save. As of now, I recreated a duplicate of the masonry wall I need and started drawing some of the walls for my project but I'm afraid to experiment with other materials. Background Information about my computer: I downloadeda free version of  Revit 2012 student software to practice at home. I have Windows 7 64-bit, 6GB of Ram and Intel (R) Core i7 2.20GHz...(I checked all the software requirements before downloading the correct version of Revit 2012)

Do I have to uninstall the program and reinstall it again? Would the problem go away?

If i select the pile in the pile cap family i have the option to put a value in the properties dialogue box under Vert Load. The pile cap family is now loaded into my project and the parameters shared in the project. AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Objects Having Parameters Like Revit

Aug 10, 2012

I am currently using Civil 3D 2011 and 2012 but soon making the jump to 2013.In my project I want to able to present a 3D-object from Civil 3D 2011 to Navisworks, eg the body of a road. I am doing this currently with the add-on program from Autodesk Labs named Corridor Solids. The several different 3D-objects that represent the different layers of the road body needs to have a certain set of parameters. For instance, Name, Dimensions, Material and so forth.

Currently, the only thing that I can present in Navisworks is the layer name that I associate to that object when I export it from Civil 3D with Corridor Solids. Is there a way, in vanilla Civil 3D or perhaps an add-on program that I can use to associate more parameters to a solid?
