I have just added a seond external drive to my Windows 7 computer. I can view the contents of my backup drive but I cannot see the new Seagate drive I just installed. I have read and searched but cannot figure out how to make the drive visible.
View 4 RepliesI'm trying to find the best way to plan my workflow while I'm on the road. While I'm away from home, I will be uploading and editing photos to my laptop in LR and then when I'm home, I would like to store the files on my external harddrive, so that I don't eat up so much space on my computer. Would I need to make two libraries for this? One for temporarily holding the images, and then a main one for everything on my external harddrive? How do I go about copying the metadate or edits that I make to each photo to my external drive?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to an SSD on my MBP, I bought a caddy and swapped out the optical drive for the original HDD internally. Now, I was hoping to move the scratch disk from the SSD to the original HDD, but the HDD doesn't even show up as an option in the Photoshop preferences. The drive is easily accessible anywhere else, and even accessible through the open/save/etc. menus within Photoshop, so OS X and Photoshop both know the drive is there, but Photoshop just isn't showing it as an option within the Scratch Disk options setting.

I opened Lightroom.
Noticed there was a question mark by the photo folder I needed.
I synchronized the folders. Nada.
I rememebered I moved the images (first line ^^)
I re-imported the images from the external drive into Lightroom.
These images (other than one that was marked previously with a blue label) look completely untouched - completely original files - even though I spent hours working on them.
I am glad the images weren't deleted BUT re-doing 600 images will be a MAJOR FAIL if I can't figure out how to import the images with the settings / developments I did beforehand.
I have about 900 raw files on an external drive. I edited those files using my master catalog using a laptop while still travelling. When I got home, I copied the master catalog from the external drive to the desk top, then opened the master catalog on my desktop. I can see the edited images on the external drive. So far so good.
I want to copy (add) the edited images to my desk top. I tried to export the images as a new catalog and then import it into the desire location on my desktop drive. However, LR5 does not allow that. I get this message: "There is nothing new in the catalog you have selected. All of the catalog's photos are up to date in this catalog." Yes, but the edited images are not on my desktop.....
I also tried to Import from the external drive and then Copy the files to the desktop, but then I lose all of the work done in the develop module and the keywords.
I watched Kost's LR 3 video on merging catalogs, but she dodges the question of how to deal with this issue since the "merge" is within the same catalog.I'm using LR5 with Windows 7.
I'm copying RAW files from a shoot onto my network RAID drive in a per-album folder, from where I then import into a new LR catalog (I'm using LR 4.1) on my Windows laptop for that album.
I'm finding that editing RAW files on a network drive from a wireless laptop is awfully slow (not to mention not being able to continue the work offline somewhere else), so I'd like to cache those files on my speedy SSD drive just until I'm done editing and exporting/publishing that album.
I back up my per-album catalog onto the network folder alongside the RAW files since that's my IT-managed master repository. When I'm done editing, I'd purge the cached files and just keep the catalog previews on my limited capacity SSD.
So, is there a way to tell LR to, for one/all files imported from a location (in my case a network folder), look in an alternate location for the identical files? Since I create per-album catalogs in per-album folders, there wouldn't be filename clashing. Either LR can provide this caching behavior on its own or I'd manually copy files from the network folder to a local folder and tell LR to look there first.
I don't really want to make copies of files into secondary folders within LR since then it's a hassle to merge edits on the cached copy to its master copy (I haven't done this, but I'd imagine so).
How can I move my Lightroom 4 catalog (data, not photos) from my local drive to an external drive? My local drive is running out of space.

I am fairly new to more than the basic elements of photoshop. I am using 'Actions' to create a e-book cover and had my design created but when I pressed finalise iget the error box - The command Merge Visible is not available with two boxes continue or stop Clicking on either box produces no results.
My query how do I cure this please, I also notice that in the layer detail menu all but the background layer have disappeared. I have taken back steps and re-entered layers with the same result. Forgive my ignorance I am a silver haired surfer who was told it was easy to create e-book covers in photoshop.

I've this window with all the tabs for the brushes, patterns etc and when I want to make the layers visible, I've to drag the layers window to the tabs and then drag it back to where it first was.. (it's quite hard to explain )

I don't know if I need to create a dynamic block property (or if that can be done), or somehow get this AssocVariable to display on its own.I also noticed that the example for creating a parametric Dimension object, does not set the dimension to the right type of Dynamic dimension. (Play with the Constraint From property in the properties palette, be sure to regen in between).

View 7 Replies View RelatedRevit 2012 .I have a topo file linked to the main building file.I am trying to render a 3d exterior view of the building (new construction ).I see the linked topography in black lines in my elevations.but not in the 3d view.
The question/ problem unsolved is how to get the site/ ground to be visible as per the linked topography in the 3d view of the main file . All I see is the building in the air , with a very light greyed site in a block form. I would like to see the site in earth: soil material for me to render the exterior view.

I recently bought a Bamboo Pen tablet to use with GIMP and have been installing under Windows (XP).
The tablet installs fine, is recognised by GIMP and I can draw with the stylus. Excellent. The only problem is that the cursor/arrow is missing which means that I can draw things but I only know where the stylus is when I start to write/draw.
I am hoping that this is a simple settings issue but how to make the cursor/arrow visible?
I'm using Photoshop CC. After using a process known as frequency separation the stamp visible layer does not allow me to use any tools to make adjustments.

But is there a way to make that grey background visible even if i'm zoomed in?
Example: I'm drawing grass and I would like that my brush strokes begins outside of the box, while being zoomed in.

I have to do this due the final topo looks strange in the borders so I am displaying another contours -that do not have elevation- and make look the drawing better. The problem is that if I turn off the Visible property of the contours, the labels turn off even that they were created in a different layer and attached to a label style with its own layer property.
