Premiere Pro :: How To Get Rid Of Dots That Mark Location Of Previous Keyframes
Mar 31, 2014
I am using Premiere CC on Windows 7, though I have the same problem when keyframing in After Effects CC using the wire removal tool. I am using a garbage matte to crop out a certain part of my frame, and as I go through and keyframe the points of the garbage matte, dots appear in all of the previous locations of the points. This causes a significant problem because I'm making very minute, detailed adjustments and the dots are so close to each other that I will frequently accidentally move a dot for a previous keyframe instead of the point to make a new keyframe.
Say I have a four-point garbage matte, so the four points are the four corners of the rectangle. I keyframe the bottom-left corner to move towards the center of the rectangle just a little bit. There will now be a dot at the point's previous location, and a dot at the point's new location. If I continue to make adjustments, additional dots will appear, 1 for every keyframe that I put in. I need this to stop, very badly, because it's impossible to always click the point to edit the next keyframe when all of these dots from previous keyframes are covering the area. It makes for a lot of mistakes and a lot of going back to redo things and a lot of wasted time.

Just added an mp4 and can't add a keyframe to either audi0 or visual.
When I try, I get the red line (render ) and when I click add key frame again the line turns to yellow.
This is from get-go as this is the first edit that I want to make - a fade in.

We just migrated from FCP to PR CC, and my editors are used to adding position and scale keyframes with a shortcut key stroke. I haven't found a way to do this in Premiere without having to go to to the Effect Controlls and click on the stop watches for each motion option. We edit a ton of photo montages, and having a quick way to drag our CTI to the beginning of a clip, press a key, go to the end of the clip, move/scale with the mouse in the program window and be done with it would be solid!
Additionally, once we time the photos to the VO and have made our keyframes, we add our various transitions throughout the timeline. When doing it this way, the keyframes have to be re-adjusted to cover the transition frames before and after each clip so the movement through the transitions are smooth.
We have tried some plug-ins that try to work with this, but they mostly seem to add MORE options opposed to offering the 6 mostly used movements, in/out, out/in, up/down, down/up, left/right, and right left.
I envision a sale-to-fit frame both vertically AND horizontally (filling the screen without pilar or letter boxing), then choose one of the 6 basic movements.
Then, if the magic developers could allow an editor to save customized transition pre-sets (like dissolve, blur dissolve, scatter, dissolve, flip, dissolve, etc.), and magically apply the presets to the clips on the timeline while auto-adjusting the keyframes to cover the extra transition frames, man, I'd be a happy camper.

I am not getting the keyframes on my Audio graph: A1, A2, or A3. I want to be able to fade out parts from my audio clip during the editing process and also tweak the audio levels at various points during the editing. How can I get the keyframes to appear back near my audio waves?

I used to have this problem with CS5 and hoped it wouldn't happen again when I bought in to CC.
In the timeline certain audio tracks will not allow me to enable clip keyframes. When I try the 'add keyframe' button is greyed out. I can add track keyframes no problem but using them is a lengthy work around. The error also seems to be radom and trashing my prefs makes no difference.
Specs are:
iMac 27" 3.4GHZ i7, 16GB DDR3, Radeon HD 6790M 2GB

Move my audio track (along with my video) down the timeline a bit and have the (audio) keyframes move with it.
What I'm doing exactly is:
- Select the Timeline Panel and Ctrl A (Select All)
- Then, click on my mouse on the selected area and drag/move the media down the timeline a bit
- All media moves fine BUT, the keyframes in my audio track A2 does not move
The video keyframes I have move just fine.
The audio on A2 is currently checked as Track Keyframes. I tried selecting Clip Keyframes, but no difference when moved; the keyframes stay at the same original place.
Is it even possible to do what I need to achieve ... or do I have to redo my keyframes manually as Clip Keyframes?

Long story short: audio problems when using keyframes or fades (Constant Power). Annoying glitchy noise occurs instead of fade. The problem still happened when the green audio track's gain was set to 0db and one of the two constant powers was deleted.
My colleague says that she can avoid the problem by using Export directly within Premiere, instead of using AME. So this may be an AME issue. It's wasting a lot of company time and I'd like to see this problem solved ASAP!I wasn't able to find any other theads upon searching.

I have just upgraded from CS3. My workflow when preparing files for the printer is to print to postscript file, then use distiller to convert the file to pdf for sending.
CS3 retained the file location, so that each time I performed the same action, it went straight to the previous folder where the postscript file (for the current AI file) was created.
Now, in CS6, it takes me back to 'My Computer' (equivalent in Windows 7) every time... which is really, really frustrating to have to re-navigate back to the same server path every time I output the file. (Which I do a lot as I do final checks and proofing within acrobat, so need to perform this process frequently).

Sometimes when working on a timeline, I come across a clip that needs to be reshot or otherwise modified.
Now I could use a marker but markers don't stick to clips and don't have any visible flyouts like in Vegas, making labeling rather pointless.
So the next idea would be to change the color of the clip on the timeline so it is 'at-a-glance' visible that it needs to be dealt with before the sequence is pumped out.
Kind of like a highlighter in a text document.
Before submitting it to wishlist, I'm interested in hearing thoughts of other users.

Not having used Premier all that much - as I leave that to the editor, I have a question around Premier and its file usage. We save our source footage in several location on a local server. Video in some folders, Sound in others, backgrounds in yet other folders. The editor creates a project, then a sequence where she pulls all the files together - so, for instance, lets assume it is a prject sequence that consists of:
1) Background footage of a field
2) Green screen footage of character #1 moving around
3) Blue screen footage of characters #2 mocing around
4) Music Layer
5) Vocal layer
She creates and saves her project on the server in the specific project folder. I am now interrested in collecting those files through premier and storing them all in one place, then copying that collected structure to her local machine to see if response will be better for her editing - our network is not the best at the moment, and we are still working on solutions. She will then have all the source footage and files sitting on her local maching, along with the Premier project file.
She now completes her edit and we are all happy with the way it looks. How do we get that specific edit back onto the server (at the end of the specific edit, as well as daily for backup purposes)? Do we have to recopy and replace the entire folder every time, or do we just copy the project file back to the server? Will this require a relink of every single piece of footage?

Behavior that I'm used to in both AE and FCP: When I double click the nested sequence my cursor lands in the exact same location on the timeline matching the original cursor location. So if I'm viewing clip 1234.mov on the main timeline I would expect that after double clicking and opening the nested sequence I would still be looking at clip 1234.mov. Premiere is not handling it the same way.
The way Premiere Pro CC Behaves: I double click the nested sequence to open it but it doesn't match my cursor location. Instead it lands me in the location I was last positioned when inside the nested sequence. This is very frustrating when trying to make client changes based on the timecode of the master sequence. Once I open the nested sequence I have to hunt for the clip that needs editing.

Due to consolidating space on my hard drive I changed the location of the orginaly linked files (MXF footage). Having relinked in both Pr and Ae (CS6 latest updates as of posting date) to the new file location all looks good until I try to view the horizontally flipped clip in the sequence. If I look at the footage on Ae its all there, every frame. In the effects for the clip the opacity is as it should be -100%- but there is no image. I see the background footage (working with green screen foreground -hence the Ae project using Keylight plug-in). The non flipped footage from the exact same Ae file is as clear as day.

I have a user in my group that is hesitant to upgrade to 2012 because , he has many lisp routines that are associated with the PREVIOUS selection feature. This selection is very useful in that when you are moving or selecting many objects you can enter P for previous and the object will be selected.
In 2009, when you select objects then hit escape, then try to execute a command requesting to use the Previous, AutoCAD will remember the last selected object and then highlight it.
In 2012, when you select objects then hit escape, then try to execute a command using P for previous, it will not highlight the previous object selected but will highlight the previous object where a command was executed on.
Hope I haven't lost you. It seems there should be a setting under SELECTION of how to manipulate the Previous selection feature.

I am able to open the file in the upgraded version but it states that it will open as a student version. Also I cannot copy and paste anything from the student version to the upgraded one. Not sure why.

When i created another new object, it allowed me to delete key frames, but not this one. One more thing: There are no red bars in the time slider for me to edit/ delete. When i right click on the time slider, 3 things pop up:
- filter

-go to time
The "Delete" option is blanked out?

Photoshop Elements 6 (20070910.r.377499)
I do not know why the catalog has changed the file location of "ALL" pictures to the location on my backup drive.
Example: K:My DocumentsMy PicturesPetsPICT1460-1.JPG
The actual location of the original photo is: D:My DocumentsMy PicturesPetsPICT1460-1.JPG
The location of "My Pictures" is on my primary Hard Drive D:My DocumentsMy Pictures
Why is Photoshop changing all of my 37,000+ photo thumbnails to point to my Backup Drive K:?
I need to correct the catalog file. How do I make the correction and stop it from happening in the future?

I have this audio layer that I want to add as a soundtrack to the intro video I made. The audio is a bit longer than the intro so I added 2 keyframes at the end of the audio to act as a fade out (I decreased the audio levels from +0.00 dB to -19.00 dB). The problem is when I export the project, I don't hear this faiding out. Is like AE doesn't "reads" the 2 audio keyframes. (When I hit play inside the project, with RAM preview, I can hear the fading out, but not when exporting). I have to mention I export the project as .FLV, as .AVI exports much bigger files. I attached a screenshot so you can see the keyframes I'm talking about.

I made a stupid mistake and started lip-syncing a long piece of animation at 25 FPS instead of 24 which I need to use. I just set it to 24 and it put all of my keys on frames like 10.68 or 54.22, it has become really frustrating to animate with. I was wondering if there's some way to snap these keyframes to solid keys instead of having them on decimals, I don't care if the animation is slightly off, I can fix it later.

3dsmax freezes and whole process is taking a lot of time, about 8 hours.
Simulation without baking is taking only 20min.
3dsmax file before baking process have 20MB and file after baking have 9GB
Is there other, more efficient way to bake physics dynamics or to simulate physics Maybe using particles with physics? particle toolbox #2 ?

I have been learning smoke 2012 (mac osx) for some days. I am FCP user, know Photoshop, Aftereffects, premiere pro etc etc..... However i have some small and big hurdles to work away smoothly with SMOKE.
1) Are MASKS available in CC (or color warper) ? ( to relight shot)
2) How to navigate between existing keyframes? (any shortcuts)
3) How to change a part of a clip.....eg. I want to replace a sky from one clip to sky of another clip...how do i go about it? (HLS key or masks etc..i have no clue)
4) In my last export (with lot of blur and motion graphics)..i was only able to export it as DPX and not as .mov file? (.mov was showing error) . Also....I always see some artifacts with my export...why does that happen?
5) Are there any SCOPES in Color corrector....for broadcast safety purpose ? (VECTOR,PARADE etc)
6) Is there any way in smoke .where i can finish and grade my SD clips so they look like HD standard. I mean even some of HD clips look substandard or lacking that vibrant, sleek look..... am i missing something while finishing them. I am not talking about increasing gain/gamma etc to make them look brighter and breach broadcast limits.Am i suppose add a light to the clip so that they look vibrant or any other trick to keep in mind, so clip look the way they should.

I just want to change the whole gmask? how to adjust the mask points globally? (something like the uber key in mocha) that way I can scrub thru my timeline, adjust my mask, and it changes the shape for the entire time, but does not add a keyframe?
also, I have my mask moving in. and points keyframes. I find that I need to move the animtion back 2 frames, how do you adjust the timing of keyframes in gmask?
