AutoDesk Smoke :: How To Adjust Timing Of Keyframes In Gmask
Nov 11, 2013
I'll be tweeking my gmask on frame 1. (Autokey is not select) then I move my gmask to frame 19, make an adjustment, and keframe from 1 to 19 is set. I just want to change the whole gmask? how to adjust the mask points globally? (something like the uber key in mocha) that way I can scrub thru my timeline, adjust my mask, and it changes the shape for the entire time, but does not add a keyframe?
also, I have my mask moving in. and points keyframes. I find that I need to move the animtion back 2 frames, how do you adjust the timing of keyframes in gmask?
I didnt see an auto adjust option in the gmask node, I can always use the hot key (classic smoke not FCP7 ha!) but I think its a nice feature to not have hidden.
Also having the context button in plain site not a right click would be nice too. Not a fan of the right click anything being a long time user of smoke and flame.
Why doesn't Selecting clips in the "Timing" view in CFX reveal which clip it is the Schematic? I realize there is a very small corresponding number, but a nice yellow surround would be nice.
I am trying to paint out a logo on a bottle with the clone paint tool, then have what I have painted over track/scale as the bottle zooms in during the shot. I think I am supposed to be using the Gmask to get the geometry of the track done (as I can do this with a matte if I want that to cover the logo with a blur or gradient or something else), but I am uncertain how to link the Gmask track node to the paint node in the correct way.
I'm in CFX in the Modilar Keyer. I loaded a setup previously with GMASKs previously applied on a HD shot. I now need to scale the GMASK for a 4K HD shot (200%). I was told to go in the GMASK schematic (the one that looks like action) and add a parent axis to move all the masks at once. WHen I'm in GMASK schematics I don't have access to a node bin. Where do I add an AXIS to parent all my masks in there?
I draw a spline (gmask) and when it overlap itself, it will cut a hole. Can we change this kind of setting? I know it's already like this from the beginning but honestly what is the BIG reason to have this behavior ?
Also in gmask node, how to delete multiple spline without going to gmask schematic ? why can't just simply select multiple spline icon and press 'del' ?
Is it possible in Smack 2013 to feather only a section of a GMask? I have cut out the sky with a GMask in a shot and need to blend the matte only in a particular section.
I'm trying to reveal text using Gmask and Blur. When I apply the effects I get a dark edge around the text. I've tried the different key operators in the blur node but that's not working.
In certain applications you are offered the option to snap the tangents at 45 degrees angles as you hold down a hotkey. Does this option exist in Smoke?
In gmask, i switch the softness to 'tracer' so i got individual control of each the control points (cp). But seems that the feather's cp doesn't have its own tangent control. Is is hidden ? how can i turn it on ? or is it not available ?
how can i do this in Smoke. I can't find any option to turn the capability on. is it available ? i want to be able to edit gmask in context , after the transform is applied to the gmask. can i do this ?
I want to turn on 'constant shape' parameter in gmask and i want to do it for multiple spline. How can i do that ? How to select multiple spline in viewer ? Also, i tried to pick multiple spline using animation editor but when turn 'on' the 'constant shape' , it only apply to single spline.
I drew a Gmask with 4 points and broke the handles. My questions is:
1. How do I know when 2 or more points are exactly on the same vertical or horizontal line? 2. How do i get them to align? 3. How do I move 2 or more points together? (Control select and drag)?
I have more than 50 geometries in my Gmask module, now I want to change all color to 0. Select all geometry and change the value doesn't work. I know I can always invert it in the next node, but I just wonder if there's any button that I missed.
how can i save selected spline/geom of gmask node ? i want just to save couple of spline not the whole gmask setup. is it possible ? for example i have 20 geom in my gmask but i want to save just 3 of them.
I have been learning smoke 2012 (mac osx) for some days. I am FCP user, know Photoshop, Aftereffects, premiere pro etc etc..... However i have some small and big hurdles to work away smoothly with SMOKE.
1) Are MASKS available in CC (or color warper) ? ( to relight shot)
2) How to navigate between existing keyframes? (any shortcuts)
3) How to change a part of a clip.....eg. I want to replace a sky from one clip to sky of another clip...how do i go about it? (HLS key or masks etc..i have no clue)
4) In my last export (with lot of blur and motion graphics)..i was only able to export it as DPX and not as .mov file? (.mov was showing error) . Also....I always see some artifacts with my export...why does that happen?
5) Are there any SCOPES in Color corrector....for broadcast safety purpose ? (VECTOR,PARADE etc)
6) Is there any way in smoke .where i can finish and grade my SD clips so they look like HD standard. I mean even some of HD clips look substandard or lacking that vibrant, sleek look..... am i missing something while finishing them. I am not talking about increasing gain/gamma etc to make them look brighter and breach broadcast limits.Am i suppose add a light to the clip so that they look vibrant or any other trick to keep in mind, so clip look the way they should.
There is a box below the Stablizer button. Pressing the Adjust Box for a while, it pops up with 3 options which are Adj off, Adj Axis, Adj offset. I've used "Adj off" all the time as default.
On the other side, there is one more Adjust box for Vertices. I don't get it either. I just used it set to "Adj Tangents" as any tutorial said.
I tried to understand it from user guide, but it is still unclear.
Is it possible to change the settings of red files that exists in a sequence?
I've tried altering the red import settings of a sequence that contained the same clip cut up and a sequence that contained red files and non-red files, but the change seem to only work on the original clips.
I know that the AJA Kona 3 card has 2 outputs. Can Smoke send one eye to one channel and the other eye to the other of the Kona 3 card? Dual Stream output is what I am really getting at.
Is there any way that Smoke can see/output sub-blacks and super whites? Can't find any way of seeing them on my scope, Smoke just clamps everything. It won't even see anything below zero in order for me to make a correction on it, everything seems to be clamped on import. I'm using ProRes HQ footage.
What is the best plugin to do spline warps in smoke?(need something like the distort in flame) I notice revisionfx don't make a warper for smoke on mac.
I am experimenting with Smoke 2013 pre-trial and I am having issues with importing images and video with alpha channels.
1. If I have a layered Photoshop file or png with an alpha channel (a still frame lower third), I see that I can import it as a multi layered clip, but what is the best way to have it in the sequence to show up properly?
2. If I have a QuickTime in animation format or Pro Res4444 format with an embedded alpha, how can I import that file to show and cut it on a top layer to animate above my video?
Does Smoke have selection functionality similar to that of Combustion? As an example, you might want to selectively blur part of an image. In Combustion, you would draw a selection and then apply an operator above the selection to achieve this. I don't see a similar selection tool function in Smoke, but I imagine you could achieve the same effect by duplicating a layer and using a Gmask via the Wipe timeline FX.does Smoke not have a selection tool similar to Combustion?
