VideoStudio :: Too Small Video Preview?
Oct 6, 2013After I successfully imported some videos into VideoStudio, I tried to preview them. Originally, the video preview was taking a quarter of the screen. It is still the case, but when I start playback, now the video size becomes half of this (half ot the quarter screen preview). I am searching since half an hour without any success for a solution. Google always return me PDF documents describing main features of Corel VideoStudio as well as reviews of the product. I thought this could be related to the fact project properties are set to output video at 480p, but I cannot set the project properties to HD. The HD option is just not there. Seems VideoStudio X6 Pro can only work for DVD projects and upconvert to HD after the fact. I found some page showing how to configure project as HD, but the layout of the options does not correspond to VideoStudio X6. Could this be because X5 had HD and X6 has not? Would be quite surprising. Seems I really have to ask support from Corel, seems an unknown undocumented issue, but I am now outside the 90-day warranty period and don't want to pay to be told to reformat my computer. So I will try other software, be pissed off during weekends and weekends and probably end up trying with another computer or asking a friend with a Mac to do the editing for me with Final Cut (and literally wait MONTHS to get a single 30-minute video).

VideoStudio :: Video Not Playing Smooth In Preview Bar?
Jun 17, 2013I am a amateur editor and do the basic stuff with the editing like color fixing and cropping/cutting. Since the time, i switched to HD videos the video does not render and playback smoothly in preview mode.
However in other editing programs like Vegas it plays back like butter but i am not into Vegas and i dont like vegas. I use Videostudio only.
the video plays back like in 1FPS or like 2-3FPS i mean the videos one picture is shown then directly after 2-3 seconds. The audio is howver smooth.

After Effects :: Firewire Output For Video Preview Intermittent
May 1, 2013We're producing some video to be projected, so to see what the final output will really look like, I'm doing video previews using FireWire so output goes directly to the projector.
It's been working great up until yesterday. Was working fine until I had to restart my Mac. Upon reboot, my the projector no longer gets any video output.
I've tried restarting numerous times, checked all connections, etc. Got it working again after several restarts, but after switching over to Photoshop momentarily, the video output once again disappeared.
how to regain consistent Firewire output for Video Previews?
My setup:
After Effects CS6
Mac Pro
OSX Version 10.7.5
Firewire Output of my Mac's monitor is going to the Firewire Input on my Sony Media Converter
RCA Video out (Composite video) going to the projector's video input.

Aug 9, 2012I have an old video on cassette that I'm trying to capture to my computer to burn to dvd. It's fine on my t.v. being played in my vhs player. When I connect it to my computer using the program Video Studio Pro X5, I can capture, and everything is functioning fine, but the tracking is off in the preview section. I've captured, and played it back, and it captures like the preview. It's got the wave at the top, and a tiny bit of it on the bottom. How to adjust the tracking, like on old t.v.'s so that the picture is centered?

Dec 2, 2011Firstly note I am using Videostudio Pro X4.
I have noticed many times that when I add the CIRCLE transition between two video clips that when I drag the 'scrubber' along through the two clips and transition, when the scrubber goes past/through the circle transition the preview window goes blank (displays black).
If I change the CIRCLE to any other transition it displays (the transition) correctly but as soon as I put the CIRCLE back it once again only shows BLACK.
If I PLAY the project the CIRCLE transition displays correctly - it is only when dragging the scrubber that the problem exists.
Is there a known problem with the CIRCLE transition?
Premiere Pro :: Get A Black Capture Screen (preview) / But Video Captures Fine
Feb 17, 2014I get a black capture screen when capturing with CS6 on a Windows 7 machine. I'm capturing through Fire wire from DV tape, via the VCR function of a Canon XL2 camera. I have tried restarting, etc.; also toggled the "preview video" radio from the Settings button in the capture Window. Nothing works and I need to be able to preview my video as I'm capturing. It is not good enough that the video actually captures fine. Also, I am forced to turn off Device Control in order to capture because it kicks me out of every capture (an immediate message of : "no frames captured") unless I do.

Photoshop :: Oil Paint Feature - Preview / No Preview Capability?
Sep 3, 2012A feature notably absent from the Oil Paint filter is any way to temporarily disable the effect (e.g., not preview it).I happen to like using Oil Paint to make refllections in the surface of water smoother and more "liquid" (which involves turning off the "Shine"), and it would really be nice if I could easily gauge the amount of the effect easily by blinking back and forth between original and processed image with a quick "disable preview" functionality.
With most standard filters, one can either uncheck a [ ] Preview box, and/or click the mouse button down on the image to temporarily show what the image is like without the effect.Yes, I know I can turn the Stylization down to 0.1 and see how a very minimal amount of the effect can be applied. And I can look at the original image in Photoshop proper, but of course that can't be zoomed while the Oil Paint filter is active.
Also, the zooming / panning seems kind of stiffly implemented.In summary, the more or less standard and expected filter features I'd like to see added to this (new class of) GPU-accelerated filters are:Preview/No Preview capability. It doesn't have to update Photoshop, just the preview display in the filter itself. I suggest a [ ] Preview checkbox and/or an on-mouse-click temporary effect disable.
Modal click and drag Zooming vs. Panning - i.e., based on a Zoom or Pan function selected (e.g., via an icon along the left) vs. having to hold modifier keys down. I personally would want it set to Zoom by default, not Pan. Since the filter has scroll bars (a Good Thing), I would have thought Zoom would have been a better default as it is. I have implemented these things in my own GPU-accelerated plug-ins, so I know that all the infrastructure Adobe needs to support them is already in there. These changes are controls only and should be trivial to implement.
Lightroom :: Library Preview Displays At Lower Resolution Than Develop Preview
Jun 2, 2013I recently bought a Nikon D7100. I took some test shots and imported the images to Lightroom 4.4, then generated 1:1 previews for all the images.
Previews zoomed to 1:1 in Library Mode are noticeably soft. The image below is a screen shot of the Library preview:
Moving to Develop View produces a higher-resolution 1:1 preview. The image below is a screen shot of the Develop preview:
Look at the bricks and window screens to see the difference.
This difference occurs immediately after import (with a User Preset applied during import). Once any Develop work is done, the Library preview updates and displays at full resolution.
This problem makes doing initial editing/selection of images time consuming, because I can't determine the sharpness/quality of imported images until I've done some kind of Develop adjustment on each image.

Mar 29, 2014I am using MacBook (late 2008) OS X 10.9.2 and recently upgraded to Lightroom 5.3 from Lightroom 4. After a while, some photo started to show exclamation mark at the right hand corner of the photo (*.CR2 raw files in NAS) in grid view. When I click on the exclamation mark, it shows a dialog with following message; "Lightroom has encountered problems reading this photo". So, I moved previews.lrdata, which is about 9GB, to the trash and restarted the Lightroom 5, expecting Lightroom 5 to create a new previews.lrdata. However, it won't create any preview at all.

size of Previews.lrdata file stops at 152KB.

Oct 7, 2013Just downloaded LR 5 and noticed that I cannot jump back from a Publish Service folder preview to a different folder preview in grid mode. The only way to view photos in another folder is to restart LR 5. This only happens when I am viewing photos in a Publish Service such as Flickr.
I updated from LR 4 using Creative Cloud installer.
VideoStudio :: Split Single Video File Into Multiple Video Files?
Feb 13, 2011I recently purchased Video Studio Pro X3 - and after going through the knowledge base and product read me, I have been unable to find an answer to the following problem I have:
PROBLEM:
I have a number of videos (HD 1080p) that I have recorded. Each video is on average 50 minutes in length - what I want to do it to be able to do is to slice this video into 10 x 5 minute videos (based on topics discussed in the video), (so essentially clip the video into these segments and edit each one) and then when producing the video file - actually create 10 separate video files (all with editing in place) instead of one single large file.
As far as I have been able to work out, I need to go through the whole file, clip relevant sections, edit them, and then save project. I then need to go trim the saved file 10 times, to extract each time the single 5 minute video I want to create. This is a fairly manual and time consuming process, hence my hope that I can create 10 files based on the clips I have made in the larger 50 minute file in one go.
as I have 30 videos to edit, so looking for ways to save time!

Photoshop :: Why Does Imported 1920 X 1080 Video Not Fill Frame In 1920 X 1080 Video Project
Nov 20, 2012I have started a new video project with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 in Photoshop CS6with a pixel aspect ratio set to square.. In the project I add a video to the timeline. The source video was created in QuickTime and exported at a 1920 x 1080 resolution MOV file. I have check both the source clip at the canvas siye and have confirmed that both are 1920 x 1080. However, when I import the video it takes up less than the entire frame. It appears that the video is being scaled down so that there is some white space to the right and below the video clip. See the image below.
In the past I have been able to import 1920x1080 video to a 1920x1080 project without a problem. I have 4 or 5 examples that have worked well.

Jun 4, 2004i recently upgraded to photoshop cs from 7. immediately i realized that when you look for a psd with windows explorer it no longer shows you a preview of the file, or what it looks like. is there any way around this, or is there a setting i can change to enable this? i know that you can use the file browser in cs, but i find it to be a lot slower and more tedious to find a psd that way. this can be really annoying when you are trying to find a file among a hundred or so psd's in a folder.
