Photoshop :: Psd Preview With Cs
Jun 4, 2004
i recently upgraded to photoshop cs from 7. immediately i realized that when you look for a psd with windows explorer it no longer shows you a preview of the file, or what it looks like. is there any way around this, or is there a setting i can change to enable this? i know that you can use the file browser in cs, but i find it to be a lot slower and more tedious to find a psd that way. this can be really annoying when you are trying to find a file among a hundred or so psd's in a folder.

A feature notably absent from the Oil Paint filter is any way to temporarily disable the effect (e.g., not preview it).I happen to like using Oil Paint to make refllections in the surface of water smoother and more "liquid" (which involves turning off the "Shine"), and it would really be nice if I could easily gauge the amount of the effect easily by blinking back and forth between original and processed image with a quick "disable preview" functionality.
Â
With most standard filters, one can either uncheck a [ ] Preview box, and/or click the mouse button down on the image to temporarily show what the image is like without the effect.Yes, I know I can turn the Stylization down to 0.1 and see how a very minimal amount of the effect can be applied. And I can look at the original image in Photoshop proper, but of course that can't be zoomed while the Oil Paint filter is active.
Â
Also, the zooming / panning seems kind of stiffly implemented. In summary, the more or less standard and expected filter features I'd like to see added to this (new class of) GPU-accelerated filters are:Preview/No Preview capability. It doesn't have to update Photoshop, just the preview display in the filter itself. I suggest a [ ] Preview checkbox and/or an on-mouse-click temporary effect disable.Â
Modal click and drag Zooming vs. Panning - i.e., based on a Zoom or Pan function selected (e.g., via an icon along the left) vs. having to hold modifier keys down. I personally would want it set to Zoom by default, not Pan. Since the filter has scroll bars (a Good Thing), I would have thought Zoom would have been a better default as it is. I have implemented these things in my own GPU-accelerated plug-ins, so I know that all the infrastructure Adobe needs to support them is already in there. These changes are controls only and should be trivial to implement.

I recently bought a Nikon D7100. I took some test shots and imported the images to Lightroom 4.4, then generated 1:1 previews for all the images.
Â
Previews zoomed to 1:1 in Library Mode are noticeably soft. The image below is a screen shot of the Library preview:
Moving to Develop View produces a higher-resolution 1:1 preview. The image below is a screen shot of the Develop preview:
Look at the bricks and window screens to see the difference.
Â
This difference occurs immediately after import (with a User Preset applied during import). Once any Develop work is done, the Library preview updates and displays at full resolution.
Â
This problem makes doing initial editing/selection of images time consuming, because I can't determine the sharpness/quality of imported images until I've done some kind of Develop adjustment on each image.

I'm trying to edit a set of titles made in Premiere in After Effects, and after I import the file (as a Premiere file) then load the sequence into the timeline; the preview is just a black screen throughout the entire preview. The titles never show up.

I am using MacBook (late 2008) OS X 10.9.2 and recently upgraded to Lightroom 5.3 from Lightroom 4. After a while, some photo started to show exclamation mark at the right hand corner of the photo (*.CR2 raw files in NAS) in grid view. When I click on the exclamation mark, it shows a dialog with following message; "Lightroom has encountered problems reading this photo". So, I moved previews.lrdata, which is about 9GB, to the trash and restarted the Lightroom 5, expecting Lightroom 5 to create a new previews.lrdata. However, it won't create any preview at all.
Â
exclamation mark at the top right hand corner of the photos in grid view.
Â
size of Previews.lrdata file stops at 152KB.

Just downloaded LR 5 and noticed that I cannot jump back from a Publish Service folder preview to a different folder preview in grid mode. The only way to view photos in another folder is to restart LR 5. This only happens when I am viewing photos in a Publish Service such as Flickr.
Â
I updated from LR 4 using Creative Cloud installer.

I'm wondering if there is a Font Preview plugin available that will do what Illustrator SHOULD HAVE done for many years - which is to actually allow you to toggle through your font list and display the text you entered in the fonts you are clicking through - - kind of like what CorelDraw has had for the last 15 years.
Â
Imagine that... being able to review text in a selected font to facillitate the selection of an appropriate visual reference for logos, etc. Earth-shaking, I know.it seems there would be an Illustrator plugin by now that would do this???
Â
Or do I have to continue to have CorelDraw opened up so that I can review text in various fonts to determine the best choice for a given project font?

I've lost the histogram and image adjustment tools when previewing NEF files. The only tools i have when previewing is the exposure compensation slidebar and the white balance dropdown menu.

I had previously been using CS3 and recently upgraded to CS6. When doing color processing I no longer find the on/off preview button so that when adjusting color balance, for example, I do not see a toggle switch (preview)Â to see the effect on and off.

I recently upgraded from CS5 to the latest version and I'm having trouble adjusting. One of the smallest but most usable features of previous versions of photoshop has been that when I go to File > open and browse to one of my thousands of image folders Photoshop will display a small thumbnail of whichever image I have selected.
Â
This is essential so that I can tell which images I need rather than by file name which is useless.I'm probably just being thick and just need to find where to switch on the thumbnail preview.

I am running Photoshop 7 on a Mac, the problem is that when I save a group of Jpegs, for some a preview is created, and others there is no preview. I am also using iPhoto, To get a preview I am having to use SAVE AS and that is tedious.
I seem to only be able to view the images with a preview on my DVD player - so If I burn a disk, I have to create previews beforehand.

I have gotten so excited about brushes I have downloaded tons of them,
over 500, I like them all and will probably use hardly 1/5 of them Is there a way to save these and be able to see a preview of brushes without loading them in PS. Or should I just delete them all and look when I need something?I would prefer saving to skip the search process but it is so hard to remember which is which.

I can't get the red brush preview to work.
I can change the brush size through the shortcut (alt, right-click, drag), but it doesn't preview.
Also, when I try to change the hardness, I get no preview at all either.
The command works, but all I get it a round hairline.

When my instructor shows the brush preview mode, his brush looks like the selected brush, which means that if there's a lot of feathering on it, he can see that. In the same mode and with the same cursor settings in the preferences, I only get a circle indicating the size of the brush. There's nothing to see about the relative hardness of it. COuld this be because I'm running on Windows XP? If not, how can I get to see the brush the way he does.

When printing I unchecked center image in PScs5 and reduced the size of my image, using the achor in the preview window, to run a test print. I'm printing to an Epson 3880. Once I ran the test print, I returned to PS and my original image. Selected print and only the preview of the test print is there. The orginal sized image will not load in the preview window. I have deleted the PS preferences and restarted twice. Even after moving to another machine, the profile seems to be embedded in my image. The same preview image is on the three machines I moved to.Â

I saw a video of some guy making a texture for a 3d model in photoshop and time to time he switched to a window where he could see and manipulate the 3d model with the unfinished texture and no, he didn't save the project and apply it everytime. I was wondering if that was a plug-in or something like that.

Whenever I print from Photoshop CS6 it launches Adobe Preview where the image appears and I can only print from Preview. If I print 'Print One Copy' it does the same thing. I reinstalled printer drivers for my Canon iP4950, looked through preferences in both Photoshop and Preview, and checked the System Preferences, still couldn't see anything obvious. All image files have preferences set to be opened in Photoshop. How to reset this so I can print directly from CS6 Photoshop?

I believe it is opening the jpeg preview stored with the DNG. Is this true or does Preview support DNG an RAW natively somehow? The particular image I opened, just to try it, looked brighter and more saturated than opening the same image in a converter.

Once I have turned on font preview the only way I can get Photoshop to open and stay open is to manually delete the preferences. The font test script claims that I have no defective fonts. I have twon computers bothe running 64bit windows 7 pro. one with 12G memory 2TB disk space, quad core 2.5gHz processor with only 350G occupying the HD, and I have a laptop with only 4G memory, 222Gb HD (half full), and a 2gHz single core processor. Photoshop only has issues with font preview on the more powerful machine.
Â
Now when I run the font test script it says I have 1600 fonts on my system, but I only show about half that in my font folder. Is photoshop reading fonts from elsewhere than c:windowsfonts
