How do you get the lines an easy way? I was wracking my brain and I just couldnt figure it out. I tried doing clouds, and making the lightning type thing then using satin for some shading etc... But it doesnt look really lasery, and i had to reduce the size alot.
making the laser lines from the plasma effect?
I don't know if the section I'm posting this question in is certainly correct but I just can't figure out one thing that "my" GIMP used to possess years ago, while I was using it for the first time. And which doesn't seem to occur anymore after some more releases.
Now, to the point:
I'm using a WACOM Bamboo tablet and -- I need to make my core pointer use decent brushing parameters than my tablet rubber and stylus. The effect I'm seeking is to enable using my mouse pointer as a rubber with increased brush size comparing to the thin brush I'm using while drawing with the tablet. The brush size seems to be the same regardless of which tool I'm using at a time, and it stinks, because if I could use them in a decent way, my work would be way enhanced. I just need to know how to make those two mediums behave adversely.
how to make a layer cut from another pic look more part of the background it's being placed on. I try to keep the pics relatively the same size then I'll usually use quick selection tool and get the item outlined how I want, then adjust the "refine edge" settings and drag onto the new background. I can get it to look pretty good messing with the Enhance features including defringe layer and maybe mess with the erase tool a little to feather a little more, but it still seems to look a bit as though it's sitting on top..

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been taking and prepping photos of a client's parts. For the most part things have been going fine. I use pen tool for thought - but round or curved - objects and for other objects I have a series of auto actions that clean them up quite nicely and quickly. For example see before and after below of an object I did. Photos were taken with Nikon D70:
I've now run into a really tough one and it's foam. I told my wife to take photos of them with black background so it's more contrasty. But I just can't seem to figure out how to get rid of the black so the result looks "foamy." Evidently, the pen tool just won't work because lines there are two straight. Below is example of photo and I now have about 6 photos similar with more to come. The photo below is reduced version to keep the file size here small:
I'm working on a necrotic zombie-like picture of myself and was trying to wrap skin around my mouth, but it looks fake. Can anyone give me a tip on how to make this look real?
I also noticed my right eye is much darker do to the lighting of the original picture, and I can't seem to get that lightened to match the left one.
In the Halloween spirit, I decided to photoshop a Gears of War themed jackolantern. However, obviously at this point it doesn't look very realistic.
Can anyone help me define the edges of the carvings? Also, anyone know how I can make the lighting inside the pumpkin look more realistic (maybe add a candle inside of it)?
Running Windows 7 - 64 bit with X5. About 2 weeks ago PhotoPaint tools changed from a nice, easy to use circle, showing the size of the nib in use (paint brush, clone, mask brush, eraser, etc) to a representation of the tool with no indication of how large the nib is. I've tried working through this, being busy with work, but it's very frustrating and was so much easier with the nib circles - showing the size.
This is the same thing that used to happen in V.12, and previously the solution was to return to a checkpoint in the system, re-install and all was set back to normal. It's been almost a year since switching to X5 and have no memory on how or what the process was back for V.12.
I want to have a slick looking website user interface and background image with sheets of realistic looking overlapping sheets of glass.

The pointer flickers when in AutoCAD, especially when in menus, between the arrow and the arrow / waiting circle. Also does this flicker with the cross hairs and the waiting symbol when in the drawing window. Have all the drivers up to date no luck.
Have also tried multiple different pointing devices. Also have several instances where text will not move or allow to be modified until I save and restart the program.
How do you change the characteristic of the cursor from Hand (Move Tool) back to just being a pointer? This condition only exists in the Develope Module when my cursor is placed over the top of the photo. When I move it off the photo it returns to a pointer. In the Library Module it is always a pointer like I like it to be.

I am trying to learn Photoshop but it is challenging and takes more time then I have right now. When I try this I try with a paintbrush, but with a larger circle brush the result is to smooth and with a 1px brush it is to small?
I need to send 2D drawings for laser cutting. Opti is the laser software..My issue is that the laser cuts to each grip and gives the cut metal a serrated looking edge.
Removing/simpliying the lines into fewer (microscopic!) segements or being able to adjusts the number of grips.
Was wondering if there are some ways in converting a highly realistic rendering of an object generated in a 3D program into a more illustrative, simplified, alittle less realistic version in Photoshop?
The object has plenty of silver reflections, HDRI environment map reflections, precise shadows and highlights, etc. I just want to make it look more generic and not as polished I guess.
Are there filters or plugins that will do this in a plug in play method or is it more prodedural and manual?
Well I'm trying to convert an image into seperate layers with each individual color on it, in this case grey/white/red/black, and I cant seem to figure out how to do it...
I need to have each color on a seperate layer so I can screen print the image...does anyone have any ideas?
The resolution of my monitor is set to the recommended resolution of 1920 x 1080. The default text size of 100% is too small. One of the preset options is to set the text at 125%. That works find in Revit Architecture 2012. BUT, I need the text to be a tad larger. If I set the text to 130% with a custom text size, something weird happens in Revit. The "status" bar at the bottom of the editing screen distorts the text. Some other weird things happen as well. Is text size in Revit hardwired?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAny way to make a the wireframe of an object "grow" or build onto screen through animation?
For example, I need to have the wireframe of a bridge look like it's drawing onto the screen as the bridge rotates.
I'm not a scripter. So I'm lacking the ability to create a script from scratch.
I'm using Premiere Pro CC on Windows 7. I previously was able to import and edit clips via exactly the same workflow - but now, not matter what clips I import, they all appear as the 'white screen'. The thumbnail is a frame of the video, but as soon as I mouse over, scrub, or try to play the clip, it turns totally white. Audio will play fine though.
I'm almost positive it has to do with using an AOC display that plugs in via USB. This is based on a similar issue I had using that display on a Mac and having part of a Blackmagic Design software UI not appear while using that screen.
I've tried lots of things, including updating the driver for my graphics card, from the manufacturer's site. I can try - especially a way to undo whatever was done when I plugged in that USB display (worked without manually installing any drivers).
Alright. This is an unusual situation. I recently formatted my OS for Vista. Reinstalled CS3. And started getting some interesting things with my pointer (mouse AND tablet). It lags to put it simply. But only when I'm activating something (like a lasso or brush). But that's not all. I've found a workaround kinda. If I zoom in and/or out, the pointer is fine and there's absolutely no lag. Code:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am on a Mac Pro with Magic Trackpad. Using Photoshop CS5, the cursor/pointer disappears after a while, and I have to switch to another application, then back to Photoshop to bring it back. The pointer does not disappear over the image window, just over the tool palettes, toolbar, menus, etc. This is a recent development, and I've only ever seen it in Mountain Lion. None of my previous systems exhibited this behavior.

View 14 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm working in an image, and in other places, the cursor is a horizontal series of symbols rather than the pointer arrow I'm used to in PSE 6, 10 and 11. The left side of the symbols is where the cursor is at.
I don't know what this is about, and don't care. I want the pointer arrow I'm used to. I've looked in Preferences but see nothing that applies. How do I replace these hard to use and irritating horizontal symbols with the pointer arrow?

View 23 Replies View RelatedEver since PS CS3 I've noticed that when I print a 300 dpi grayscale image to my laser printer directly from Photoshop, it comes out as if a 72dpi benday screen had been applied. Never happened in earlier versions. I used to get excellent black-and-white print quality through Photoshop, just using the default settings.
I have 300 or 600 dpi grayscale images, usually with a lot of clean black lines. But whether I set to "printer manages colors" or "Photoshop manages colors", and no matter what profile I select, I get the same halftone (awful) result on my HP Deskjet 3330. The printer's settings are fine. If I print the same image from any other application, such as Quark or MS Word, the print quality is fine.
I am looking to purchase my 1st color laser printer. Iam a graphic designer that does print and web projects. I would like to find one that is great but not too pricey.
