I had recently encountered a problem where I couldn't get the layer tool (F7) to show up. The "delete AI Pref" course of action didn't work for me. To cut the story short, this is what I did to get it working.
# Search for *.aip in the system
# Found "Layer Palette.aip" in C:Program FilesAdobeIllustrator 10Support FilesRequired
# Made a copy of "Layer Palette.aip" to C:Program FilesAdobeIllustrator 10Plug-insExtensions
It appears that the Layer Filters functionality is broken again with 2013. Unchecking the "Apply layer filter to layer toolbar" disables the function of layer filters in the tool palette.
View 5 Replies View Relatedthis is how i usually duplicate a layer, by dragging and dropping to the new layer icon at the bottom of the palette. it is not letting me do that.
also, when i select a a single, or group of layers and move them around in the palette, i thought it used.
I used to be able to select a layer (getting the Marching ants of a layer on a image) via the Layers palette (I think I used to press ctrl + mouse-click) but now, in Photoshop CS2, I can't get it to work.

How can I select a shape on a layer in PSD in the layers palette?
In my past version of PSD, I was able to simply click on the Layer and hold either select or control to have marching ants go around my image - but with CS2 I am not able to do that.
I seem to be missing all of the control button icons in my Actions Palette. Can anyone tell me how to restore them?

On one, in the Layers palette, next to the "eye" that turns layers on and off, a thumbnail image shows for each layer making it very easy to identify the layer you are working on.
On my other PC, the thumbnail is not there.
What setting must I change? How do I turn that thumbnail on?
Seen this bug before on Mac OSX 10.6.8..CS6 Illustrator 16.0.3 Missing thumbnails and labels in the layers palette. Also note missing selections at the bottom of the palette.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was working in Photoshop CS6 and I must of accidentally clicked on something. My layers palette went from showing me a picture of what was in each layer to only showing a brush in every layer. Now I can't see which layer is what.
I've tried Googling a fix but I can't find anything. Here is what it now looks like. I want each layer to show me what is actually on that layer.
I am working in Civil 3D 2011 and cannot call up my sheet set manager. I have used it before but not recently. Here are the things I have tried.
1. Sheetset command in the commanline doesn't produce the palette and shows no error.
2. Opensheetset command in the command line brings up the dialog box to browse to my sheetset. I select it and click open and there is no error but still does not display my sheetset manager.
3. Opened up my cui and made sure the sheet set is added to my work space, visible, and docked and still nothing.
4. Clicked the sheetset palette button on my view ribbon under the Palettes tab.
5. Restarted the computer.
Still haven't gotten the sheetset manager back.
This was my first go-around attempting to create a custom tool palette for our office. Everything was fine, the palette worked well. All of the block libraries and associated files were initially saved on my local drive. I then moved the files and folders out on the network, repathed all the items on the palette to the new area but for whatever reason when I insert blocks that have attribute data attached It is not recognizing it anymore. I am just trying to get this piece straightened out before I export the palette itself out to the network to share.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe title says it all. The file(s) I imported and want to develop are JPEG files. Not sure that has anything to do with the problem.
How can I restore this tool pallette?
I meant the right column. The main things in the palette I am looking for are: exposure, shadows, clarity, saturation, vibrance, etc.
When creating a new layer using the icons in the adjustments palette and holding ALT in CS5 a dialog box would appear before creating the new layer. At this point you could rename the layer change the blending mode etc.
In CS6 I do not get the dialog box to appear the new layer is just created. I've tried to reset my preference twice and this has not work.
The Photoshop CS6 Info Palette is not showing before and after in Grouped Adjustment Layers. It only shows the after values on both sides of the Palette.
The two macs with this problem are:
Mac Pro
2 x 2.93 Ghz 6-Core intel Xeon
96 GB 1333 HZ DDR3 ECC
ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
OSX Lion 10.7.5
The two macs that work correctly are:
Mac Pro
2 x 3.06 Ghz 6-Core Intel Xeon
96 GB 1333 HZ DDR3 ECC
ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB
OSX Lion 10.7.5
I don't know why but I don't see images of my dynamic blocks at tool palette.
View 6 Replies View Relatedhow to change the colour of the selected layer in the layers pallete? It's quite annoying the way it is (Dull grey/blue) and sometimes hard to see what layer's selected?

View 1 Replies View RelatedNoticed that the Dynamic Blocks in the Annotation Tool Palette are missing? Let me rephrase that, in the Tool palette they show up, but the dwg's that they reference are missing. I have 4 users that are currently testing Civil 3D 2013 and all of them are missing the files.
I'm sure I could copy them from 2012, but still.
when I added a layer mask to a layer, it would display in the palette as the alpha channel, which was very handy. Now, when I add a layer mask, it only appears as the mask icon; i.e., gray square with white circle in the middle. I have no clue what I did to change from the one to the other, but I would certainly like to get the alpha representation back!
View 3 Replies View RelatedA lot of times I'll be working on multiple .psd files and as I'm moving between files I'll notice that all the layers & layer comps will disappear from their palette

I can bring them back by doing something like clicking on the text tool and then clicking on a text item on the stage. It's annoying because it takes a couple of clicks for the palette(s) to redisplay.
Is this a bug or is there a setting in preferences that can control this?
When I select a layer, it is highlighted in grey (in the layers palette) and I am unable to edit it. My current process for making a layer editable is as follows: Select layer (highlighted in grey)Double click layer (opens "Layer Styles" dialogue box)Close "Layer Styles" dialogue boxLayer is now highlighted in blue and can be edited. I am currently running Photoshop CS5.1 on a windows machine which is using Windows 7.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRight now I'm using at the same time AutoCAD 2009 and 2012 (trying the newest version). Thing is that I think that I screwed up both version from changing so much between them.
My problem is that when I click the Layer Properties Manager nothing happens, in both versions, the layer window should appear but it doesn't.
Out of the blue, my Layer Control will not work. When I click on the icon, the top two lines on the screen go gray and the whole thing locks up. The layer palette does not appear. If I try to choose anything on the screen, it beeps. It unlocks if I hit escape. If I type in "layer" at the command line, the same thing happens. At this point, I am unable to change lineweights & colors within my layers settings.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhy is this bug still in this program? This is my palette as saved...Same palette after relaunching.......and it goes on like this for another 10 inches or so. Every layer and group was minimized prior to saving.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI downloaded this vector from Shutter stock, but what I am seeing on the layer palette is different from what is on the canvas and if I try to save or export it to anything else the result comes out looking like the layers palette - almost black.
And it's only happening on a few of the objects, as you can see from the image, the apple and other leaves are fine. It is also doing it to the pumkin and some of the grapes in the cornicopia.I checked all my layers to see if something looked weird but they all look fine...
When I open the original .eps file from Shutterstock in Photoshop, I get the same black objects.
I'm trying to customize the Layer Palette with icons that I mostly use but it does not work. It have been possible in all previous versions. Is it just me or is it a bug or something new that we have to live with?
