Why is this bug still in this program? This is my palette as saved...Same palette after relaunching.......and it goes on like this for another 10 inches or so. Every layer and group was minimized prior to saving.
View 8 RepliesI have PS CS3 operating on Windows Vista Home Basic (Dell laptop). I installed CS3 about a month ago and it has worked perfectly until now. (I am NOT running the trial version). All of a sudden when I attempt to launch the program it opens and then closes within a split second. (It is not running in the task manager.) I am a photography and NEED my PS to edit photos. I'm in a crunch b/c I have wedding invitations to design and get ordered.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy understanding of Auto Recover is that when a working file is saved and closed, the corresponding Auto Recover psb should be trashed automatically.
Every evening I save and close all my work, quit Photoshop and shut down the Mac. Every morning when I start Photoshop, at least one Auto Recovery file opens. It's the last file(s) I was working on the previous evening.
I've toggled Auto Recover on/off, trashed the folder and had CS6 recreate it. Nothing works. Every morning, I am presented with a psb of the previous evening's work.
My scratch disk is a dedicated 100gb SSD. I have triple verified that CS6 is not writing recovery files to a different location.
I had recently encountered a problem where I couldn't get the layer tool (F7) to show up. The "delete AI Pref" course of action didn't work for me. To cut the story short, this is what I did to get it working.
# Search for *.aip in the system
# Found "Layer Palette.aip" in C:Program FilesAdobeIllustrator 10Support FilesRequired
# Made a copy of "Layer Palette.aip" to C:Program FilesAdobeIllustrator 10Plug-insExtensions
I downloaded this vector from Shutter stock, but what I am seeing on the layer palette is different from what is on the canvas and if I try to save or export it to anything else the result comes out looking like the layers palette - almost black.
And it's only happening on a few of the objects, as you can see from the image, the apple and other leaves are fine. It is also doing it to the pumkin and some of the grapes in the cornicopia.I checked all my layers to see if something looked weird but they all look fine...
When I open the original .eps file from Shutterstock in Photoshop, I get the same black objects.
Is there any way to change the background color of the Layer palette? (CS6/Mac here)
Working with white type and objects is very frustrating.
For example I would like to make my images layer Green and my copy layer Red in my layers palette.

I'm sure there is a patch for this out there by now, I mean there has to be, I mean, why would Auto desk NOT want to fix this problem.
I have two layers. Upper most with text is locked.Bottom layer is an image I have applied a transparency/gradient mask for the raster image. Now, seems my layers palette is stuck in a mode called 'Layers (Opacity Mask)'.Not seen this before, but this is CS6. How do I get out to the main, root level of the layers palette?

also, when i select a a single, or group of layers and move them around in the palette, i thought it used.
I used to be able to select a layer (getting the Marching ants of a layer on a image) via the Layers palette (I think I used to press ctrl + mouse-click) but now, in Photoshop CS2, I can't get it to work.

How can I select a shape on a layer in PSD in the layers palette?
In my past version of PSD, I was able to simply click on the Layer and hold either select or control to have marching ants go around my image - but with CS2 I am not able to do that.
Here's my problem:
I get eps files that i have to post to a website. I open the files in Photoshop, and they open on 1 layer, a Background later, that has a white background. However when I drop them into a PPT or Word doc, they are indeed transparent.
When I open the EPS's in Illustrator, they are transparent. When I re-save the EPS in Illustrator as an Illustrator EPS, and then open that file in Photoshop, it opens on "Layer 1" and is transparent.
Why are these EPS's opening on a background later to begin with?
One of our CAD machines has been down graded from a two monitor setup to a single monitor. Now the layer manager, which was opening up on the second monitor, opens off screen. How can I reset it to open on my main monitor?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever I create a new autocad drawing or open an existing autocad drawing it seems to automatically set my layer to default of "dim" in lieu "0" or whichever last layer I was on before I closed and saved the file.
The same goes for XCLIPFRAME. For some reason XCLIPFRAME is automatically set at 2 in lieu of 0 whenever I open any existing autocad files (again it does not matter whichever state I saved the drawing in)
I've checked my default template dwt file and i've made sure these settings are right.
The preview of the picture still appears when I select it in Photoshop, and even appears for a few seconds in Adobe Bridge before going back to black. But nothing I tried, from restore plug ins to online retrieve systems (that tried to bring back individual layers, only accounting to a single black layer and a bunch of blank ones) worked. I'd really like to get the picture back, or at least a png of it, but I'm at loss for what to try next. I use Cs5.1 64 bits.

The problem is that we have a script that runs and interacts with AI, that only works with the 32 bit version. what could cause the .pdf to only work in AI 64-bit? If you need the .pdf itself, I'll have to get permission from the artist/customer before I can upload it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedLast week I finished my artwork and saved as usual as an .ai file. I checked it again a few days ago, made a few amendments, and it was fine. Today I tried to open it but a box I have never seen before seems to think my document is a pdf and I get the option to open either 'image' or 'pages'. I open pages and the artwork does not look such great resolution as it did previously.
I tried to open it in Photoshop not AI.
why does my illustrator CC crash as soon as it opens ? I am using widows 7 (64) servies pack one , i have 6 gig of ram.
View 1 Replies View RelatedRight now I'm using at the same time AutoCAD 2009 and 2012 (trying the newest version). Thing is that I think that I screwed up both version from changing so much between them.
My problem is that when I click the Layer Properties Manager nothing happens, in both versions, the layer window should appear but it doesn't.
Creative Cloud Illustrator will not launch on my Mac running 10.6.8. InDesign & Photoshop work fine. But even after multiple uninstalls and reinstalls, the illustrator icon simply bounces and stops, failing to launch the application.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have Adobe CC on a Mac 10.6.8. Illustrator has just stopped launching. It bounces a few times, then stops. No error message. I have:
- restarted my machine
- updated the Illustrator CC
- restarted application deleting preferences
- deleted my Wacom drivers (even though they were up to date)
- I do not have any 3rd party drivers
I am trying to open an emf file in Illustrator, but it just appears as a blank page. I tried some emf files that I created a few years ago, and they open fine. But the new ones that I made are not appearing.

I am using Adobe Illustrator CS6, on a macbook Pro device.
Every time I open illustrator and click on the pen icon, open a document, etc etc it crashes. I am using a Mac computer OS X version 10.9. I only have downloaded fonts from dafont.com on this computer. Nothing else has been installed or downloaded. I have tried opening the program while holding CMD/OPT/SHIFT,uninstalling illustrator and redownloading but it still does not work. Below is the error message I get:

I just installed cs6, and when I open files in Illustrator, it opens all of the layers which contain sublayers. It does this even if all the top-level layers were closed during the previous save. The files I work with have a large layer-structure, so re-closing the top-level layers every time I open a file wastes a lot of my time. Can I close all layers at once, or better yet, can I stop Illustrator from opening all of the layers automatically when I load a file?
If not, then WHY on earth not? I can't be the only one who opens and closes large files with lots of layers and sub-layers...
Edit: I also am noticing this problem is even worse in cs6, because openning and closing individual layers plays a little animation of rotating the triangular arrow before the layer which, cute as it may be, just makes the task of individually closing up all my layers that much more tedious. Can I turn off that little animation of the triangular arrow when opening and closing layers?
It is only happening with 2 files, created in CS4. When I go to open either of these documents, I get 3 previews opening at once. I restarted Illustrator, I also tried saving one of the documents as a CS3 document and the problem happens every time. All of magnifications are different, one is at 99.37% and the 2 other open files are also at random magnifications. Is there a way to stop this from happening?
